Re: MP Game - European War

Might as well leave it up but turn the timer off. If the server does stay up, and people have the inclination to take turns, we may get a few in.

Its been an odd game - rather pacifistic. I woder how long that can Last? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I agree, leave the server up with no timer and we'll just see what happens.

I think I remember Graeme was saying something about holidays, I hope that now, when the holidays are over it will continue...

It looks like the game is moving again.

Or then again, maybe not?

Btw. Iz just got back from his vacation, and kindly offered me Caelum on a permanent basis - so I'll be in full charge of the Birdmen from now on.

The timer for the game seems to have been turned back on. 39 hours and counting, at the moment.

Is the server up? I don't seem to be able to connect...

The pace of this game has slowed to the point that it's not really holding my interest. What do the rest of you think about this? Still having fun?

I'm feeling the same way - can't remember what happened, starting to not care what does happen.

I second that opinion. Though it seems to me that, with the exception of Mictlan, the turn are still coming in at a reasonable pace

Re: MP Game - European War

Yeah, it's hard to maintain an interest when it is so slow. I'd be either for setting it to fixed schedule (48hrs?) or abandoning it...

I'm happy to keep plugging away. But given that my current situation is not so good, I'm not going to shed any tears if the game is ended. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Welp, I don't know what's happened, but as of turn 55, my empire has disappeared. All my units are gone, I got lots of battles with bad VCR headers, a few provinces seem to be under the control of R'lyeh http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif and the game seems entirely fubared. Did this happen to anyone else?

Don't know. I can't get through to the server

Ahhh... I thought you'd say it was C'tis fault http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

I can't even connect to the game, so I don't know what's happening

Crap. It looks like there was a collision between the two games I'm running on this computer. I had a similar thing happen in a different game that I was playing in a long time ago. The games are probably not recoverable, and I apologize for not having a recent backup.

Hmm. Well I guess that's it then?

Re: MP Game - European War

I guess it is.

Had the game gone on, I think it would have been C'tis'. I think we could have an interesting discussion over the relative usefulness of late game Death gems vs. all others.

I for one think Tartarian Gate should simply be removed from the game. [Dons flame-proof suit]. In a game about Pretenders, being able to chain-summon Pretender-class units just doesn't make much sense.

I think I agree here too http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif death gems are good http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif There's no hoarding method to get them though. So their usefullness is somewhat balanced by difficulty of obtaining them. And Well of Misery didn't have to stay that long. Can you say wonders of C'tis diplomacy? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Tartarian Gate or Gift of Reason? Non-commander tartarians are not that dangerous. In another game I played, which lasted into the late game, Tartarians were the weapon of choice for everybody. Funny thing was a Wish-wars for The Chalice http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: MP Game - European War

I agree, C'tis was in an excellent position to win. Had Zen not dropped out though, that might have gone differently. He was a much more dangerous neighbor for alexti than I was. Especially after Caelum and Marignon attacked me. There was no way I could be anything but friendly to C'tis after that.

I figured I was doomed from the start since I was right in the middle of the map and everyone would hate having me as a neighbor. I'm just pleased that when the attacks finally came, I didn't get completely steamrolled.

Getting the Soulstone of the Wolves off of some AI Pangaean troops was fun. Marignon in particular seemed to be having trouble dealing with my Calls of the Wild.

Killing off your wolves was a nice change from all the undead. It's a pity the game stopped, I was just getting my summoned troops moving and getting the hang of Caelum. Still.. I agree the C'tis is the most likely winner.

Yeah, I noticed that Caelum had some high quality troops headed my way. What was that, a Fire King and a bunch of Air Elementals and an Air Queen and a bunch of some other nasty critter... I forget. Anyway I was not happy to see them show up on my borders after I finally rid myself of most of your weaker troops.

There was a 50% conjuration site in Sahara, so I had a bit of everything. Water Queens, Air Queens, Fire Kings and a load of Vine Ogres, Elementals, Undead Cavalry, Mechanical Men and so on - and more on their way. My problem was that I had to teach most of them to swim before they could get to Italy ;-)

btw. I'm hoping my carpet bombing with Fires from the Sky made some impression too.

Re: MP Game - European War

A 50% conjuration site? Man if I'd had one of those...

I assumed that the Fires were Marignon's doing. They killed a few hundred of my longdeads etc., but I don't know that they would have done me much good against your armies anyway.
