IIRC its 67.66.187.69 and 12001. I believe you can download the map from the server.

As a rule the universe hates clever buggers...with clever names...a bit like the god Terminator who was the 1st to be terminated in a alternative universe...

Yeah. A bunch of giants stormed my home. So it goes. Fun playing anyhow.

We both had huge blesses, so that's not my excuse.

Mivayan, you just got unlucky. You committed yourself to a battle with T'ien Ch'i which got broadcast to all in his plea for help. Easy for me to attack your weak front. I was actually surprised that you didn't try to secure peace with me before engaging.

Thanks for sticking it out to the bitter end - always more fun that way. And I'm sure everyone else will appreciate all those Decay spells you threw at me in the last couple of battles. I, personally, did not!

I made a similar mistake: attacking yomi just before discovering mivayan. Luckily Miv attacking me shielded me from yomi til i could get rid of the lankan army attacking me.

I don't think you after worry about Yomi now, not 100% sure but I think Ermor as attacked him.

Wow, you guys are sure having fun, sounds like a cascade effect, 1 guy attacks his neighbour, so is neighbour attacks him, then is neighbour and so on...a mess but good fun nonetheless.

Yeh Shovah32, that Lanka vs Tien Chi in Tien Chi battle was nice. I got to watch it with that Scout you kicked a few turns later.

Yep, seems like starting on the edge of the map is a significant advantage. I haven't played a game yet that I wasn't on the edge and managed to avoid a multi-front war. As you say though, that's part of the fun of this game. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I was randomly hoping you'd do something else. Also I was hoping to finish tien quickly and bring my army home.

Ah, unscripted decay... fun! Mostly scripted a few spirit curses for the giants.

The time of treachery has passed. The surprise attack from our friends(?) of Caelum allied with the powerful nation of Ulm is acknowledge but those things are of the past and present is a two front war in which our divinity died. Now revenge is in the hearts of the wild.
This turn Hundreds of invaders were sent home on their shields when they were heading towards the sacred grove. Unfortunately the flying chickens of Caelum were cut out landing inland of our country and their entire group perished.
Those deaths and the future ones are a message that Pangaea is not of free pass and that no tresspassers will be allowed.

To be honest, I don't know how I lost so many commanders. I see one die, and after the battle a bunch of them are gone. Its not poison or some other end battle effect.

Basically, my Prophet and a bunch of mages just got eaten by a bug. Let's just say I'm not pleased.

Bogus, bogus, bogus...:(

*sigh*
Turn one - that archer with the insane precision takes out my prophet...no blessings for the jaguar/eagle warriors. Eagle warriors trudge up on foot to whack with non-enchanted weapons.

Turn two the guy on the griffin with the +10 fear aura kills three dudes and causes the other 200 to route (still had two commanders- this is total mad moral roll). Now I've got to build an anti-Bogus army and go collect my wayward troops...:(

Folket March 19th, 2007 03:56 PM

Baalz, did you not know that that archer always aim for commanders?

Baalz March 19th, 2007 04:03 PM

Re: Bogus, bogus, bogus...:(

Yep, that's why I brought extra commanders, but I forgot that my prophet was out of dominion and easy pickings...didn't bring any extra *priests* (eagle warriors would have settled it in one turn if divine blessing had gone off). Oh well, live and learn...

The cursed above ground lands of Agartha have felt the triple hammer blow of Helheim. We plan to go down making obscene gestures with our claws and swearing at them even more enthusiastically. We write this here so those innumerable Helherdlings don't mistake these gestures and shouts for feeble attempts to hit them and pitiful squeaking. Hitting opponents and successful diplomacy have not been amongst our strong suits thus far.

We can report that Helheim has observed all pacts between us faithfully and their suprise attack was not a suprise at all http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif We desperately cling to this as a mark of our incredible tactical nous http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif

mmm. the south of the map seem so far...
the distribution was odd. My western enemy, Ulm has a large continent with no neighbours and I´m tired now of his hordes. And Caelum is attacking me too. The game is intresting so far. But others seem more threatened with no chokepoints and maybe more enemies.

Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)

I guess it's not terribly impressive to brag about stomping on the AI, but the fight to take the Sauromatian capital was a hoot anyway (I think the defenses were scripted before they got set AI).

"Aw crap, that's a gorgon. And wonderful, several hydras with a good sized army of heavy infantry and a dozen skellispamers to hold the gates." (I relieved Vanheim of the siege so I had no idea what was inside)

"Ah, cool, note to self: make sure to use hellbind heart again next time I go up against Hydras"

It was great, all their dudes ran up to whack on the recently converted hydras (getting lethally poisoned) while my guys strolled in the front gate unopposed. The skellispam considerately put the Hydras down before my troops got in the danger zone, and the gorgon climbed her fatigue over 100 buffing the lethally poisoned troops. Then it was just knocking down a bunch of unsupported skellis and passed out mages...

Sorry to say, I'm going to have to pull out of this game. I start a new job on Monday, so (sadly) I'm going to have reduce time spent playing Dominions. It's been fun everyone! Thanks especially to Velusion for doing an excellent job at hosting.

I've asked Velusion to find a substitute, and I think the position could offer some fun to whoever takes it over. While the position has its flaws, it's certainly far from hopeless (and I'll be happy to give a detailed briefing to whoever takes it over).

Baalz April 16th, 2007 01:16 PM

Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)

The gates of Sauromatia fall, and the bloody god demands fresh blood in appeasement. After a brief stare at the ominously silent nation of R’yleh it was decided that now was not the time to march underwater. This left the vanir cousins for consideration. Helheim appears otherwise occupied, but perhaps a bit much to bite off. Vanheim, on the other hand appears ripe for the plucking. The trick will be to start and finish the conquest quickly enough that the hungry Helheim and R’yleh have no chance to notice us otherwise engaged.

“Very well” said high priest Baalz, “First we shut down their capital. We must minimize the number of heavily blessed Vans we face on the battlefield. Let their crops wither and die, I want every drop of rain to become a toad until their population drowns under the rotting corpses. Next, open the gates of Inferno, I want their country to burn. Let no corner of their kingdom be spared, imps should raid from the mountain tops to the swamps and find everywhere their glamoured troops are not. Finally, march forth with the mighty Jaguar Warrior host which has just finished sacking Sauromatia, for somewhere in these red-flag territories lie the tricksie hidden defenders.”

As the nation of Vanheim caught fire and began to burn, the hidden defenders quickly found that glamour and fancy moves alone was no match for the hungry Jaguar Warriors. Dozens upon dozens of huskurls gave their lifeblood to the ground and the bloody god was, for a time satiated. Then, the scouts reported a more formidable defensive force trying to sneak upon us. Behind a impressive phalanx of huskurls several dwarves were seen practicing sending huge clouds of spinning blades out, sure to decimate the lightly armored Jaguar Warriors. Towering above them all was an immensely magically powerful Frost Father, the self styled god of the Vanir.

“No, that’s not going to work for me, I will not have our noble warriors cut down in swaths by those dirt grubbing rock slugs, bring me their heads before the battle.” No sooner had the order been given than a swarm of seething disease demons flew forth to deliver. All dwarves were slain (ethereal disease demons weren’t impressed with the blade winds), though the demon which attacked the Frost Father had to be content to infect him with a lethal disease before being blasted back to the abyss.

“This is still not satisfactory, that Frost Father alone has enough power to level a city, I will not send our troops to die under that vile deluge.”

“But your holiness, how can we hope to assassinate such a powerful creature? No assassin in existence can hope to challenge him one on one!”

“I have been keeping something for just this occurrence, bring forth the black bows.” The terrible black bows were brought out of the vault, and given to lesser warriors that they might win some glory. They would have but a few shots apiece before they must retreat – no point risking the valuable bows. By high priest Baalz’ orders, only militia and slave chaff would be sent forth for this fight – the Jaguar warriors would be held in reserve until the Van’s support was broken. The one exception being that vile Bogus creature, having offended the high priest with his vulgar behavior Baalz had ordered him to hold the center of the front line to give the archers time to work…and work they did.

Now the Vanheim host sits virtually leaderless at the foot of the former Sauromatian capital, surrounding a feebleminded and diseased wretch they still worship with not a mage to be seen within a hundred leagues. There is no hope of reinforcements, their capital stands all but abandoned, their fields burn and but a few territories were able to fight off the imps. The Jaguar warrior host prepares to make a truly fitting blood sacrifice in honor of another successful conquest. We salute our latest opponent and will honor you in death by offering you directly to the bloody god.
