Re: Easter Eggs

I think we should pause it. 12 hours to go and a considerable number haven't played their turns.

Oh and We cave dwellers (who are sadly only able to build one cave ever /playstinyviolin) announce our offensive drive versus Mictlan; via Vanheim, and C'tis.

Actually, We have no idea where Mictlan is but we know for CERTAIN that the best amd ONLY(!) way to stop their GLOBAL DOMINATION SCHEMES is to attack Vanheim immediately.

Ack!!! I'm sorry I completely forgot about the pause request FAJ http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif My weekend was kind of hectic and I didnt even get back to the forums until just now.

If you like, I will delay my offensive a turn, to compensate for your staling? I really feel badly about forgetting.

FAJ April 9th, 2007 04:22 PM

Re: Easter Eggs

I only staled once or twice.

Its no big deal, you can keep on your offensive. I wasn't going to defend my lands anyways, only my castles. I lost a few mages to Vanheim when I could have avoided it, and I lost a province or two to Marverni and the van, but i will either recover or lose as if I hadnt staled, im sure.

Sorry, did not http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

As I said before I completely forgot. But that said, I would never pause the game without explicity stating so here in the thread (ie. "Server now paused until so-and-so"). So, always keep an eye out for a message to that effect here as it would be the rule.

Earth Gems

It is a sad day for the people of Marverni as the Earth Gem Crisis of '07 continues to rage unchecked through that earth-loving land. Rationing of earth gems has failed to curtail the severe shortage and the Druidic Council has become seriously concerned! To respond to the crisis, the Marverni government is now seeking international assitance. Any nation willing to trade earth gems should contact High Druid Invictus aka "The Badger" with an offer. We have many fire, air, and astral gems to barter.

I am so angry with dominions right now i can't even explain it. Why don't my units EVER do what I script them to do? Instead they choose suicide. Is it a bug? My units TRY to die.

Why is it that in essentially every game I play, the computer chooses fire shield over what I script?

Ironhawk April 11th, 2007 05:36 PM

Re: Earth Gems

I'm guessing we had a battle in this upcoming turn where your men cast fireshield, FAJ? I havent seen it yet but if so - I remember intentionally pulling my troop formations back to keep them out of your Falling Fires range. Perhaps it was just a range issue?

I can confirm when I get home and can look at my turn.

FAJ April 11th, 2007 06:25 PM

Re: Earth Gems

I set him to cast fire storm. Your army was full of hp 10 prot <10 guys. it would have done huge damage. Instead he cast fire shield, got diseased and ran away.

He is fire 9 and had a ton of gems on him. The only reason i can think of him not casting it is to spite me.

Your point of view is truly skewed. Those fair lands were rightfully liberated by Kailasa from the foul clutches of Lanka. It is you who chose to once again blaspheme these lands with the foul, Demonic stench of your Dai Onis by chasing away my garrisons.

Now most of your Onis are gone, their damned souls banished away to drift with the winds.

FAJ: I just looked at the battle and I am as confused as you. Are you 100% positive you had Firestorm scripted?

If you are then I cant think of any reason why he wouldnt cast it. The only conceivable rule that could be coming into play is the "battle too insignificant for gems" rule. But how could that be the case here with all my men and mages??

So odd. You definitely have every right to be enraged at dom3 right now.

Uh oh, looks bleak.

The noble Vanheimigian race of Vanirs sees the sun setting upon their glorious empire. The hated cave-dwellers have seized upon an opportunity to come through the back door.

Things are looking bleak for Vanheim, and also for the C'tis. We have worn ourselves out fighting in the early game, and now the vultures are swooping down on us both for easy pickings.

Alas and haroog, the Vanheimigians are scattering to the hills and their home fortress has fallen.

The king is dead! Long live the king!

Neifelheim: you just signed your own death warrant! How can you not expect every player to immediately go to war with you??

Re: Astral Corrtuption!!!!

Yes - you all should probably wipe me out as Neifelheim now.

Since I would really like to play another game, I should point this out: This really isn't a strategy I would have chosen personally, but Solo constructed a Pretender/Domain/Strategy that was designed to cast these "un-neighborly" spells. So I've gone with it. Besides, I've never gotten to cast Astral Corruption before.

Kydorias April 15th, 2007 03:52 PM

Neifelheim, if I had a presence close to your nation I would immediately move to crush your empire and stick your Blood Mages' heads on pikes outside your walls.

No matter, I still declare war on you.

Astral Corruption: How\'s it Doing?

I've never actually cast Astral Corruption (or been in a game where it was cast), and I was dissapointed that I didn't get any messages concerning its results.

If anyone's willing to share, what did it do? Did the sky fill with Horrors? Did the spell pass unnoticed (save for the massive ritual sacrifice)? Did puppies at least whimper?

Everytime a mage does something like cast a spell or forge an item, there is a chance of an attack. I had 9-10 sauromancers cast summons that turn and one was attacked by a lesser horror and died.

One of my more powerful mages was casting a powerful summons. The summoned creature arrived with a Horror who then proceeded to annhilate the summoner, his bodyguards, and several powerful magic items equipped by the summoner.

The nation of Pangaea pledges to match any public offer of astral gem donation to any honorable and reputable nation competent and confident enough to dispel these atrocious enchantments woven by the maniacal Giants.

Storm - Please Pause Game?

Hi Ironhawk:

We're having a big storm up here in New England, and I have no power or internet at home. Any chance you could put the quickhost on pause? I cannot play my turns.

The storm is supposed to die down by Tuesday afternoon.

I will try to play my turn tonight, just in case I have power, etc.

A very specific set of boosters- those IW forgot to bump up when they changed the rest of them for dom3. It's actually the last remnant of the attempt to diversify magic present in the early dom3 CB versions. But since by itself it doesn't do a lot I'm planning to remove it next version.

Yeah that battle went really poorly, but hey thats the way things go in capital assaults. The next attack will be far less rushed and far more deadly.

I do have to say tho that I'm getting really tired of Shadow Blast in general. This is the third game where my armies have been utterly destroyed by that spell. Its begining to look like Death is actually the best combat path, not Fire/Air/Earth. Very disappointing.

FAJ April 16th, 2007 05:38 PM

Re: Astral Corruption: How\'s it Doing?

Its powerful. It would certaintly be more powerful if I had any gem income http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif.

But, my prophet got about 50-60 kills scripted to cloud of death then 3 blasts <spells>. Ill pay 4 gems to do that any day. Death has proven less powerful than fire in my experiance, but fire doesn't benifit from cheap astral penetration items like Shadowblast does.

I am also curious about the effects of the giants impressive spray of global unfriendliness as I too have never seen them in action and so far I am unimpressed and wonder why the lot of you scream so much.

I have no doubt that the losses due to these spells has been greater but these losses are not publicized because of the fact that that is "sekret" info but I and no doubt others would love to hear some generalized stuff!

The agarthan's have had a Giant and his wolfpack kill off the PD of a region I had conquered and I had a demon slay off an indy commander plus some unrest but no horrors to speak of. Of course, we are all researching atm (hoping someone makes the bad mens go away, nod nod) so..

Anyways I would love more data to decide whether those spells are worth it or not and I am thinking not!
