Re: Turn 57
Someone's planning to go all Arcane Nexus on us, is he?

Re: Turn 57
No AN. I promise to behave http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Re: Turn 57
Quite an exciting battle at Niefelhiem this turn, couldn't have been much closer.
|
Re: Turn 57
Scouts report that during this particular siege R'lyeh has lost some few hundred units. Must have been one awesome battle.

Turn 61 is out.
Deadline is Tuesday night. Pasha |
Re: BARK turns 61
And *again* my global draws the short straw! What is this, some kind of conspiracy by the Random Number Gods to keep Sauromatia an insignificant primitive backwater?
Hmph. We'll just have to find other means of securing power. Now, where can we look...? |
The haves and the have nots. (Talking \'bout balls)

Hehe, you're certainly not the only one coming for a piece! Just the most surprising one http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
Arcos gave notice last turn, and Caelum this turn. (Big surprise that the coward waits until I'm fighting at least 3 other nations before joining the dawgpile.) |
Re: The haves and the have nots. (Talking \'bout ba
Note to self: do NOT set god and prophet to retreat when you have no provinces to retreat to...
|
Re: The haves and the have nots. (Talking \'bout ba
What???
Could you please elaborate. It sounds like a good story, though of course I share your grief. |
Thog go wrong way
At one point in time, C'tis had two underwater empires separated by a peninsula. I was trying to get Thog the wrym and my prophet from the east to the west undersea empire, and I tried to rush them across the peninsula in the same month an invader was probably going to take the peninsula. So I set them to retreat, reasoning they had a 50-50 chance of retreating to the west instead of east.
Of course they didn't, and of course I forgot to reset their orders, and of course several turns later someone threw a horror at me (Caelum is my guess, they ate my western undersea empire), and they ran out of places to go. This is just another exhibit in why I am not a feared opponent: insufficient attention to detail! I'll be out in 1-2 turns. It's been fun, see you in the next one... |

Re: Thog go wrong way
True, Sauro makes more sense. The horror attacks in the west showed up intermingled with the Genie attacks, so I jumped to conclusions. I may be misremembering. Couldn't do much about it either way.

We will miss Thog. The Triumphant Genius led a rich life, and it's sad how he died such an unsavory death. |
Re: The haves and the have nots. (Talking \'bout ba
Yeah, that might have been me. My gem production got axed by the RNG, remember, and I needed an alternate source of power? A more reliable one? Well, lots of virgins in Sauromatia - the Blood Gods don't have modern enlightened attitudes about just what constitutes "sex".
Sorry you had to go that way though. I figured the horror was a long shot... |

Turn 62
Turn 62 is out.
Deadline is Sunday night. Pasha |
Re: Turn 62
4 VPs to R'lyeh.
I bet ye, if there's *any* VP with no castle and strong defense he is going to claim victory and very soon. |
Re: Turn 62
And then the world will descend irrevocably into darkness.
|
Delay
QM requested an extension until today.
I will shoot to host when I get home from work today. |
Turn 63
Turn 63 went out last night.
If possible, it would be great to host again tonight to stay on schedule, but if players need until Thursday, that would be fine. Pasha |
Re: Turn 63
Sorry I couldn't make tonight - I'm still stuck at work... Weep for me.
|
Re: Turn 63
I am still waiting for turns from Sauro and R'lyeh. The deadline is tonight (Thursday).
Pasha |
Re: Turn 64
Turn 64 is out.
Deadline is Sunday night. Thanks. Pasha |
Re: Turn 65
Turn 65 is out.
Deadline is Tuesday. The emails say "Turn 64" but that's a mistake. Pasha |
Re: Turn 66
Turn 66 is out. Deadline is Thursday.

Turn 67
Turn 67 is out.
Deadline is SUNDAY night at 9:00 pm Boston time Pasha |
Re: Turn 68
Turn 68 is now out.
Let's say that turns will be due on Thursday night. The turns for SOME folks take a long time to play, so I hear. We Giants, on the other hand, are quick and nimble. Pasha |
Jurri Ascends!
I am pleased to announce that the ultra-excellent Ygorl will be spared the duties of hosting this game while I am away.
Congratulations, Jurri! Once again... please see Lulu in the back room for your prize. |
Re: Jurri Ascends!
Congrats Jurri for a well deserved and hard earned victory http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
You have really assembled one scary army at 162, there was nothing all of us together could do to stop it. |
Re: Jurri Ascends!
Congrats to my semi-ally. Did he liberate my C'tisian capital from the evil Sauromatian invaders?
|
Re: Jurri Ascends!
Whoa! That was a bit surprising http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif I was sure QM would airdrop another 30+ seraphs and ream my army but good. It sure was dang hard to get the last capital: well defended Bluebird, QM et Izaqyos!
I had quite literally nothing at all in reserve, too, so had my army been repelled that would have been it for me. When I started attacking Pasha, I for a while planned to cast to cast Sea of Ice with lotsa gems to defend against the gangbang he was trying to scare me off with, and just sit it out in the ocean (casting Wrath of the Sea once gems permitted: on a map that's mostly coast it would have been fun to try), but when it didn't come, I decided to risk it all on a mad dash to the nearest capital. All in all it was one of the more difficult games that have ended in my favor (and certainly the most close), beginning with that punk Ewierl repelling my assault and ending with the uncanny Wraithlord very nearly ruining me with his 'mistakes' http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif Early R'lyeh sure is crappy, the only reason I did this well because the map has so much water. And because certain players were too passive for their own good http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif With a victory condition like this, you gotta attack, attack, attack. djo: the last of my capitals was the vile Arcoscephalean den of sin. Ygorl never did attack me, unless those Disease demons were his instead of Boron's. Anyway, off to see Lulu... Thanks, Pasha, for the hosting and thank you all for the game! |
Re: Jurri Ascends!
Those disease demons were indeed courtesy of me. Izaqyos told me that you were about to take 162, thus ending the game, so I had to send something nasty your way. Too bad it wasn't enough. Good game, everyone, especially the victorious squid-lords. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
|
Re: Jurri Ascends!
Yeap, some players (me included) were too passive in this game, yet you had some balls there to go against everyone. You know, I think I could have taken one VP from you, one of the ex Neifel VPS, but I chose not to do so because I wanted the bulls eye to be painted on your back http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
Obviously, I miscalculated strategically. I must say that I really appreciate how you stuck to your aggressive plan and made that bold play pay for you. Another lesson learned from the Jurri institution for dominions strategy http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif |

But congrats on the win, you certainly had to work hard to project that much power on land. I do wonder how the situation would have shaken down if your last attack had failed, given all the superpower's teleport powers, the VP chaos could get quite wild if everyone was feelinng frisky. |
Re: Jurri Ascends!
Oh, I almost forgot to ask, does anyone have any comments on how CB balancing worked out this game?
|
Re: Jurri Ascends!
I have noticed balance effects mainly in the item forging area. I liked the changes to empowerment items and to gem generating items.
|
Re: Jurri Ascends!
Hah, I totally hated the D3-requirement for skull staves. I don't like the other booster-item cost-increases either. On the whole I still have mixed feelings for the mod: there's a lot of things in it that make the game more fun, but there is also stuff that creates unnecessary frustrations or that don't do anything for the fun-factor, except cause annoyance when you notice it's been changed. I would much prefer the mod took a more streamlined approach, instead of fiddling with every little thing.
|
Re: Jurri Ascends!
Well, liked or disliked, the booster nerfs are gone in the current version. And actually I don't think CB messes with gem gen items.
As for streamlined... it's hard to be streamlined when there are so many options to be balanced. Nerfs are the most 'streamlined' balancing option, and everyone hates those. |
