Has Vanheim staled twice in a row? If so I'll have someone flip him to AI.

Re: Nuance - Random Nations, Middle Era (Sign Up)

Damn ... Vanheim's intervention had taken Ulm's increasingly heavy, armourclad boot off my neck (and pretty much every other body part http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/Sick.gif

Baalz September 11th, 2007 10:01 AM

Re: Nuance - Random Nations, Middle Era (Sign Up)

Well, FWIW Vanhiem is going to be conquered in 3-4 turns and is in a pretty hopeless position. This will free up the forces which got pulled off of my T'ein Ch'i conquest so I can return to finishing them off, which will free up the forces which got pulled off of my C'tis conquest so I can finally kill off that god forsaken miasma. Gah, I'm getting blue balls from not being able to finish a conquest yet and you tennatious bastards certainly take advantage of every distraction! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Re: Nuance - Random Nations, Middle Era (Sign Up)

Yeah, good battles Baalz. I got tired of trying to run down those accursed Dragons, which I'm sure are being churned out faster than I can kill them. I was hoping for more of the army vs. army battles, which were tremendous fun.

This was my first game and I learned a lot against a worthy opponent. GL Baalz!

Re: Nuance - Random Nations, Middle Era (Sign Up)

Heh, yeah I wasn't a big fan of marching my heavy infantry into a heavy poison environment which is why I avoided the army vs army scenario after our first engagement (very well deployed, BTW). I did have a plan to flood you with mechanical men in addition to iron dragons to take your capital, but that got..er...sidetracked. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif I hate leaving people crippled - doing just enough raiding to keep them from getting on their feet but I kept getting attacked by new people! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Have to say though that was quite gratifying when I finally smushed a couple dozen of those damn sirussh...they were such a thorn in my side for so long. Very well played for your first game!

Was this game on 24h timer?

Velusion September 11th, 2007 06:27 PM

Re: Nuance - Random Nations, Middle Era (Sign Up)

There was some mix ups because of a request for a 24hr time extension which I forget to change back so it hosted early and I had to revert and add an addtional 24 hours to the clock.

Currently though turns are on 48 hours (just changed it to the correct time).

Re: Nuance - Random Nations, Middle Era (Sign Up)

Cool, I wasn't sure how well that Djinn air drop would work, and indeed he's now diseased and almost dead (unlucky crossbow bolt :/), but that was just as hideous as I'd hoped. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif I wasn't sure how the math works out on a single 9f mage casting a 500 fatigue 5f spell holding a bunch of fire gems - I was quite worried he'd pass out on the first round and let your dudes walk up and slit his throat. Only 50-something fatigue though, not bad, and living fires is just scary with a fire mage that powerful...

Anyone else having problems connecting to the server? I connect, get 'waiting for game info' message then the game hangs http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Re: Nuance - Random Nations, Middle Era (Sign Up)

yeah I couldn't connect to any of Vel's servers this morning.

Velusion October 9th, 2007 01:17 PM

New patch

Here is the deal:

DO NOT CONNECT TO THIS SERVER WITH THE 3.10 PATCH.

I will post here when the game is updated and you can connect with the new patch.

I will upgrade all the games on my server at once. The timer will be be taken off all the games and I will manually upgrade and host all of my games Wed (tomorrow) at about 10pm. Please do all your turns with the old patch (3.08)

Until the upgrade of the server please continue to use the old 3.08 patch.

Thanks!

Could somebody tell me if my turn is in please? I updated before reading this and my internet is going really slow so going back to 3.08 and then back up to 3.10 would be a real pain.

Re: Nuance - Random Nations, Middle Era (Sign Up)

When I first started noticing Vengeance of the Dead being cast on my pretender many, many turns ago - I gave the benefit of the doubt to other players, assuming (though I've never seen it before) that the AI nation I was fighting (Caelum) was casting it.

Then I noticed it was cast 5+ a turn on my pretender. I was extreamly skeptical it was the AI, but as I wanted peace I wasn't going to accuse anyone as I had NAPs with all my neighbors.

Then, a couple turns after the AI went under I got a few more. Still I ignored 'the villain".

About 4 turns ago I started to get them again, still I ignored them.

Last turn the villain decided to cast murdering winter on a province with troops. THAT I cannot not tolerate.

So, after considering the volumes of circumstantial evidence Naberius, Lord of the Pit and Devourer of Children, declares that Ermor has broken the spirit of the non-aggression pact and unleashes his demonic brethren upon the lands of the living-dead.

Shovah32 October 11th, 2007 04:30 AM

Re: Nuance - Random Nations, Middle Era (Sign Up)

Ok no, just plain no.

Why the hell would I cast vengance of the dead on a god, in friendly dominion, who I have seen with well over 20MR?
Why would I cast a 50 gem spell requiring cold on a heat 3 nation?
Think what you like, and use any reason you like to declare war.
See you on the field of battle in 3 turns time?

Why would anyone else? Arco is the only other player I border now... So either he did a hell of a job setting you up over the last 15-20 turns (targeting my pretender only when he is a province that borders your own so I'm not in my own domain) or it's you! You even advertised your Vengeance of the Dead services!

*tears up the violated NAP and points at Ermor* I call Shenanigans! The Legions of Hell already are on the march! Make your time! Count your days! All your base belong to us!

Shovah32 October 11th, 2007 01:59 PM

Re: Nuance - Random Nations, Middle Era (Sign Up)

Well I'm incredibly annoyed. Mainly because this is the second time I've been attacked in a game by an 'ally' who has decided to disregard the NAP I had with them, although I know this happens.

Although this is the first time it has happened after that allied claimed "That it is perpetual and only ends by one of us giving notice to the other player and waiting the said amount of turns before commencing any hostilities".

Oh well - Have a fun game guys. I don't see myself surviving against abysian armies+most of the games blood uniques fully equipped.

edit: A small foot-note to apologise for the sulky nature of this post.

Velusion October 12th, 2007 10:35 PM

Re: Nuance - Random Nations, Middle Era (Sign Up)

Astral Corruption will only be up for approximately 5-7 turns.

To those that lost globals (minus ermor), my apologies. I seriously assumed the really valuable casters would be scripted to defend against horrors, etc.

New turn is up guys - My war isn't going too great.

Also, the Unquenched Sword and the Barrier are both free now.

Re: Nuance - Random Nations, Middle Era (Sign Up)

....only if you dare to forge.

HOLY [censored]. The sky turned bloody in a split second.

My global only survived because I've used a minor mage to cast it and then hide him in the end of world sitting in the tower, but countless other mages casting site searching spells and forging items are slayed in the taint. INCLUDING the mage who has been empowered so many times and who had forged priceless uniques in the past. Meanwhile, the unholy nation of pythium has invaded land of Arco JUST NOW and, after seeing his action, I tend to believe that he has something to do for the corruption - know this corrupted pythium, the slaughter will not go unanswered.

Re: Nuance - Random Nations, Middle Era (Sign Up)

Yes, my pretender was scripted for returning, but not thinking about it I've been pooling my astral pearls to harvest my clams. There go all three of my globals. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Shovah32 October 14th, 2007 11:21 AM

Re: Nuance - Random Nations, Middle Era (Sign Up)

The funny thing is that my global-caster didn't even die, my well of misery just got over-powered by the Astral Corruption casting before it killed off most of the other nations global casters.

You want my babies to come out and play? Well, maybe, but not yet. I'm going to try and either out-last your corruption or make you go back on your word to get rid of it.

Well, that combination of spells worked different than i expected (particularily Wrathful Skies seemed a waste), but it worked nevertheless. 3 Abominations, including the GoR-ed one, down and that's what counts.

Now i need to figure out what to do with Arco's Astral 14 Oracle, scripted to Master Enslave of course, that just snatched my 400-strong army, troops and mages altogether.

EDIT: 400 turned out to be low. See the screenshot.
EDIT2: Right screenshot added.

And Ulm decides to end the NAP, naturally. Not that that NAP was worth much with 50 of his spies inciting unrest in my provinces.

Btw, could we go to 72h timer perhaps? Those turns start to take a lot of time, and i have a quite busy period at work recently.

Was helping my friend to do some strategy planning on critical seconds, and it's me whose suggestion lead to the birth and the destruction of an abomination raiding party. It's consisted of few abominations, some sprites and some HIs. For some reasons I thought the party is good enough to survive from most single SCs, but I was wrong. The party has been destroyed exactly the same scripting I used in Ludus, and the same Air Queen.
So I lost a bet. I now needs to get my nails done ... haha.

If ulm declares war on you, arco has won the game.

Re: Nuance - Random Nations, Middle Era (Sign Up)

Yeah, i'm not evenly matched with Arco alone, and pretty sure when Ulm joins them it's just much a matter of time until Arco wins. Unless Abyssia is much stronger that i think, that is.

It probably could have been alot worse. Particularly if you had planned on me staling(you could have done huge amounts of raiding and such).

It's back up.

Velusion January 5th, 2008 01:24 AM

Re: Nuance - Random Nations, Middle Era (Sign Up)

The game is crashing with a "no space left on bg" error. It is tied into my siege of Ermor's capital (If I rerun the host without sieging it doesn't error out on me). I'm going to post in the main forums because I thought this bug was fixed.

Not being able to take Ermor's capital after so much investment would be very bad for me... so I want to try and exhaust all possibilities in trying to fix this...
