Hey, stay in the game Holyfrog. Ulm may have a lot of armies, but it is set to AI. It's dumber than dirt. You can build up again and take a lot of provinces.

Re: Globals

I may have difficulty finding time to play if I stay in the game and become a large nation. In fact, when T'C failed I think I'll get beaten in a few turns(I made a big mistake in this game and end up with a very small army and lots of useless researchers), never expected so many nations will go AI, that's why I joined other games http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/redface.gif

Re: Globals

True. I never expected so many to go AI either. See my post in the Fearsome Legions thread.

I think the xmas/new year holidays and the 3.14 patch had hit the game pretty badly; something like 3-4 players abandoning the game each time http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Re: Globals

1. No, I was new to MP and did not know how to fight with freezing game at first.
2. I was thrown out for missing two turns even when I was active on forum and yes - second turn was missed on patch 314.
3. From now on I will use only llamabeast hostings http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Lingchih February 14th, 2008 02:49 AM

Re: Globals

Aww. JZ. Don't be so hard. Zachariah has hosted a lot of good games. True, he does not visit the forums much. And he AI's players staling like lightning when he does. You just have to keep up with the game.

Re: Globals

My guess is that it was the connection problem that caused the massive attrition.

Lingchih February 15th, 2008 01:19 AM

Re: Globals

Only 5 of us left... maybe fewer. I don't know that Helheim is playing his turns anymore. Please excuse me if I attack one of you by accident... I am surrounded by AI nations. Some of the most powerful AI I have ever seen in an MP game.

Crazy game. Unofficial pole:

Who is still playing?

shard February 15th, 2008 05:19 AM

Re: Globals

If by 'playing' you mean having a look at my turn once in a while to hire new mages and cast auto sitesearching spells then... yes

but even then I will have to stop next week. Though almost all my different gem/blood types are in the triple digits. This will be a most powerful AI http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif

Lingchih February 17th, 2008 09:41 PM

Re: Globals

We look forward to crushing it. Although it will take me 20 turns just to clear out the massive empire that Ulm left. Once again... crazy game.

Can't connect to the server at all now. Even four windows didn't work

Re: Globals

Weird. I just connected and did my turn. I did not even get the bug this time. One of Zach's other games though (Fearsome Legions) is locked up. I think maybe he needs to reboot his computer.

Zach, oh Zach. Where are you?

It's back to connect-alt/tab/del-try again for me.

Re: Globals

I've emailed and messaged Zach, but he has not replied. I'm probably going to bow out of all Evilzombie games because of the connection problems. I don't think he is actually administering the servers anymore.

I'm afraid I'm out... grabbed a whole lot of artifacts but thats it, got a flight to catch!

Re: Globals

I hope he left a nice, uber-powerful AI. Oh wait, of course he did. He is leading the game.

I suggest we give the win in this MP game to the AI. Long may it reign.

I agree, now the AIs are more powerful than human players http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Lingchih February 23rd, 2008 01:42 AM

Re: Globals

And I just verified, Fomoria has all the Artifacts... at least all of the good ones. Not much reason to keep playing this one.

Unless you guys want to have some kind of Pretender showdown at the OK Corral. That could be fun. I have a decked out Gorgon that could fly to some centrally located province.

Tyrant February 23rd, 2008 03:36 PM

Re: Globals

Not sure what Fomoria having the artifacts has to do with anything, and the AI's are most certainly not more powerful than me, but shard failed to set Fomoria to AI before he left and with Yomi on the ropes and Holyfrog wavering there's really not much of a game left here.

If you you guys want to do a three vs one alliance against me and we can get Zach to set Fomoria to AI i'll do that, otherwise i guess we should bag it.

Lingchih February 27th, 2008 12:30 AM

Re: Globals

Out of curiosity, I took a look at the turn. Holy cow Tir! There were so many thunder strikes raining down on Ulm's capitol troops, I thought maybe Thor himself was in the battle. That was amazing... an entire army (albeit a small one) decimated by thunder strikes, with your own troops not having to even move. There were bodies flying everywhere.

Nice.

I've set Fomoria to AI, have fun taking it apart!

Lingchih February 29th, 2008 03:11 AM

Re: Globals

Alas, although it looks like fun, I cannot run the game anymore. Launching 3 instances of the game, in order to get past the syncinfo bug, causes my graphics card to overheat. I won't chance it again.

Redfrog February 29th, 2008 06:25 AM

Re: Globals

The 'multi-windows' method is not working for me either.
Now I can connect in this way:
1). open Dominions
2). try to connect
3). if it cannot, kill it in Task Manager
4). repeat step 1
I find that if I don't close the first window, I always can't connect, it is quite strange http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif

Reverend Zombie February 29th, 2008 06:39 PM

Re: Globals

That leaves Pangea, Tir, Helheim and me (Yomi) as the only human players.

Are the rest of you interested in continuing?

Lingchih February 29th, 2008 06:53 PM

Re: Globals

I am Pangaea. As I posted above, unless Zach miraculously appears to fix the server, I can't play anymore, as the three window workaround almost burned up my graphics card. I can set Pan to AI if needed.

Lingchih March 6th, 2008 12:21 AM

Re: Globals

It is rather interesting to see the progress of this game. I have not played in several turns, since Zach has disappeared and the server is buggy, but I logged in just to set myself to AI (since the server is still running).

In the several turns since I have not logged in, I have lost no provinces, and lost very few troops. In fact, I found I now have over 5000 gold, fortresses under siege are ready to be stormed, and my research has gone through the roof. On top of all that, the server appears to be working normally now, with no syncinfo bug (waiting for info) in evidence.

I think I will play this again for a few turns. If anyone else wants to join me, do so. It still looks very interesting.

We can? That would be interesting for testing out some lategame strategies etc...

Hows the once-mighty-empire-of-Fomoria doing? :p

Lingchih March 6th, 2008 03:35 AM

Re: Globals

Looks like they are still doing pretty well. I don't think there is any way for you to get back in after you have gone AI though.
