Re: Global War (started!)

well, Abysia is pretty important for evil. so no I'd rather not see him being turned to AI. What is it with people just leave the game without any warning and leaving their password???

CUnknown May 17th, 2008 02:42 PM

Re: Global War (started!)

No, he did give warning. We just didn't pay much attention to him. Read back through the thread.. When I saw Abysia stale, I thought... 'Hey didn't someone say they were going to Japan?' And.. yep, it was Abysia.

It would have been nice for him to send Foodstamp his password, though, you're right.

Hey, Foodstamp! Why don't you take over as temp for Abysia in the meantime (using the master password), until we get his password?

Re: Global War (started!)

Now that we found a reliable sub for abysia, can't we finally turn to a real automated 48h schedule?
I say that because it seems the timer has been reset again this morning after running for 30h or so, not mentioning the week pause earlier.
Frankly, the game has come to a pace at which I'm starting to forget it at times, which is as bad as I can get as a geek ^^

CU, please make it automated so as to speed people a bit. 48h schedule was what was agreed upon at start and the game isn't so advanced that we need a 72h or 96h timer I think.

But it may be just me so enthralled in this game that I can't wait ? ;-)

Baalz May 19th, 2008 10:37 AM

Re: Global War (started!)

So am I still subbing or is Foodstamp gonna stay on? Just PM me if the pw shows up and you still need me, I'm not really following this thread at the moment. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

CUnknown May 19th, 2008 11:43 AM

Re: Global War (started!)

I had to restart my computer, that's why the timer reset. You're probably right that I should start letting people stale if necessary to speed up this game.

However, with Abysia gone, and no password in sight, we still have a problem which will delay us. I'm not sure what to do about it, either. Foodstamp has seen the entire map... it's not quite fair that he stay on as Abysia. I mean, it would be the same if we just gave Baalz the master password to take Abysia's turns with.

We could do that, but as much as we trust Baalz, I'm not sure team Good would be happy with that solution.

I guess that is an option.. if this goes on any longer, we will take that option, I guess.

Re: Global War (started!)

I have no objection to simply giving Baalz the password. Even with someone less proven, I'd be fine with it- I don't think there is much intersection between people willing to cheat and people willing to sub.

CUnknown May 19th, 2008 05:29 PM

Re: Global War (started!)

Okay, let's do it then. Baalz will get the master password so he can sub for Abysia.

That may be foolish but I quite agree with QM. Just hope it's not http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

mmm...I think I broke a rule last turn :
To avoid any incident, I stated to a player that I intended to invade a province "this very month".
I realize I could have said that I shall claim the province in the near future, but certainly not "this very month", which may then be a kind of coordination.

Is there a way to atone?

sorry guys I can't connect at the moment. I'm traveling long distance again in a few hours. So probably won't be able to play due to jet-lag. Could I have a 12 hours extension please.

Sorry about this.

Re: Global War (started!)

I don't know why my computer is down -- well, it could be the computer itself shut off for some reason (maybe a power surge), or my internet is down.

If it's the internet, it will come back up in a few hours probably. If it's the computer, we will have to wait until saturday or sunday to start the game up again, because I am out of town.

Guys, I have to fly to Europe in a few hours. I had no notice whatsoever,
which is why I did not give you any. I will try my best to take my turns...
but I hoped to at least be able to take my turn before I left, and it seems
I will not be able to do so.

Global War will be updated as soon as I get home (sunday). And actually, the week after next, I will be away as well. I will try to get a sub.

Re: Global War (started!)

Actually, I found Internet access. I had sent my turn to the host via e-mail,
so everything should be OK... now if I can only find the damn mods that I keep
forgetting when I transfer games...

I'm sorry about the delay everyone. I'm not sure what happened. The server is up again now.

I am going away again next week, I will try the same sort of set up as last time -- hopefully it will work and my computer will stay up for the whole week. I'm not sure what else to do.

Re: Global War (started!)

It looks like the server just crashed because someone (Pythium, I believe) loaded up the turn using the most recent patch. I haven't updated the server yet (I will after this current turn hosts). Please take your turn using 3.15 for one more turn. Again, sorry for the delay.

DonCorazon June 1st, 2008 10:18 PM

Re: Global War (started!)

I took my turn awhile ago before the patch, but patched a couple days ago, then connected to the server today to check on things and it must have auto uploaded. I am not really sure how to go back and take the turn on a pre-patch basis. Argh.

CUnknown June 1st, 2008 11:46 PM

Re: Global War (started!)

I don't think it was you, DonCorazon.. Did it crash on you? If so, I guess it was you. I removed Pythium's 2H file and the server was able to go back up, so I think it was him.

DonCorazon June 2nd, 2008 12:09 AM

Re: Global War (started!)

Oy, I've already patched as well and am afraid to connect to see if its hosted. I've already played last turn though, so if not somebody just post when it's hosted.

CUnknown June 2nd, 2008 10:00 AM

Re: Global War (started!)

I suppose it won't hurt to patch? The thing is, half the people already have loaded up their turns using the previous patch.. will that cause problems if I patch?

Kheldron June 2nd, 2008 02:42 PM

We may have to reload our turn I think but no big deal...?

moderation June 2nd, 2008 05:31 PM

Re: Global War (started!)

So do we upload our turns in 3.17 or 3.15? I don't want to crash the server. :\

Also, I checked the server last night and it was working, but it seems to be down again today. Can anyone else connect?
