Why T'ien Ch'i? We are not neighbours :) I could sell you provinces on one of my neighbours though.

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Game On!)

Because you're probably the most powerful nation in the game atm :) Your offer actually does sound tempting though. Hmm, that gives me an idea.

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Game On!)

If anyone wants to buy some of Machaka, I can make a good deal right now on their southern or western regions (beyond their capital of course!). ;)

Zeldor February 2nd, 2009 11:21 AM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Game On!)

Well, PM me your offer and I will think about it. And nah, MA Pythium is the strongest, I think. And winner of EA Ermor - EA Marverni war will be the leader later. And it also looks like MA Man will fall a victim of LA Marignon aggression. I am a peaceful nation on the other hand, unless bribed or provoked that is :)

rdonj February 2nd, 2009 11:32 AM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Game On!)

MA Pythium is definitely a major contendor, he does have a bit of a research lead on you at the moment but it looks like you're catching up. But mainly, wow you have a lot of gems. Your inevitable power makes me glad you're so peaceful. Like me, only much larger and richer.

Unfortunately Zeldor, I don't think I can buy much from you of what I'd be interested in. I'll have to see how it goes.

rdonj February 4th, 2009 11:08 AM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Game On!)

Hear me Bokassa, lord of Machaka! Your war with the noble samurai of Jomon brings our people great sadness. Due to your people's thoughtless aggression, we find ourselves forced to dissolve our pact of non-aggression with your empire as of this month. We cannot allow the harm your empire has dealt to go unanswered. Though we personally have no quarrel with your empire, its aggression has thrown nature out of balance.

As of this month, Ulm mobilizes for war. Though it does not please us to take up this task, Machaka's viciousness cannot be allowed to run rampant. In four month's time, if peace between Jomon and Machaka has not been reached our forces will be at war.

In response, I'm pretty sure the answer is no, I checked and I don't think that's the case.

Actually MA MAN's sudden attack on my undefended castle provoked the war... We are just merely... counter-attacking :o

LA TC is interested in buying bigger amounts of N and S gems. We have good prices, both in gems and items. We can get bribed to help someone in a war too :)

Hey folks, my computer is currently out of service and I'm unable to post any turns until it's fixed. So in hopes that everything will get sorted I'm going to delay the game a couple of days. However, if the gods continue to mock me and my troubles continue through the weekend I'll hand over admin duties to someone else and let you guys look for a replacement or just set me to AI.

I'm got called out of town suddenly, I am going to try to get my turn in on time; there may however be a slight delay. I will be back in town on Monday.

Fakey, I can never tell if my turn is in or the other arco.
I'll check again- but can you delay till monday if I havne't submitted?

Fakeymcfake February 22nd, 2009 02:44 AM

yeah no problem, I'll send mine in tomorrow and I think I already delayed it until monday anyhow. Either way I'll tack on another 24 hours to be safe.

Someone resent my turn?

Fakeymcfake February 25th, 2009 03:51 AM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Game On!)

That was me, couldn't tell which one was mine on the list so I had them both resend. For some reason I didn't receive the last turn when the turns got sent out earlier, that or I miss placed it while I was having computer issues.

Fakeymcfake February 25th, 2009 07:55 PM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Game On!)

Alright, my computer has gone meltdown yet again and I'm going to have to order away for a replacement part. This coupled with work becoming more and more hectic has convinced me that I'd be better off backing out of all my games for the time being.

Anyone who wants to take over as admin PM me and I'll pass along the code then you can start looking for a replacement.

Everyone would be very wise to watch LA TC's province count. There is a highly opportunistic power play in progress at the moment.

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Game On!)

Hmm, I'm trying to watch a battle I had this turn, and it crashes at a certain point every time. Are there any known battle replay crash bugs?

JimMorrison February 26th, 2009 07:53 AM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Game On!)

Wow, that's odd. I had a Scout there, and I had a CTD during the replay as well. It was so long, I just reloaded and didn't bother trying to watch it again.

Zeldor February 26th, 2009 08:21 AM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Game On!)

It worked fine for me, if we are talking about the same battle.

rdonj February 26th, 2009 11:43 AM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Game On!)

We should be, I only had one battle this turn against anything other than scouts.

I tried to watch it twice, but the second time I applied liberal use of 'n' to skip ahead :P Anyway, I don't appear to have lost anything that mattered, it just would have been nice to actually see the battle. Should I add this to the bug thread/submit my turn file to illwinter?

LoloMo February 26th, 2009 01:06 PM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Game On!)

Last turn or two turns ago, I had a battle that I couldn't watch also. It would CTD on the 4th or 5th round everytime.

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Game On!)

Did the game get delayed again? I thought we were due for a turn by now...last I checked it said: turn due saturday 0:00gmt

Also, can we set Man to AI? He's staled for the last 5 or so turns after he started losing...

chrispedersen February 28th, 2009 02:10 AM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Game On!)

Yes, I was rather annoyed. I asked both francis and Fakey to set man to AI - neither did. I have arranged for it to happen, but we are on delay until that happens.

Also, Fakey has bowed out of all games and we are attempting to locate a sub for him. He has a solid position. So if you know anyone... help spread the word. If we can't find one in a day or so, I will restart the countdown.

I got a hosting in 6 hours msgs even.

speaking of which can we set the msg time to at least 12 hours, maybe even 18? usually the message hits while I'm asleep or away from the comp and is not that helpful...

Thanks,

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Game On!)

Reuters, Newswire:

A followup to an earlier rumour, there is now independent confirmation of the machinations of the nation previously referred to as "LA T'ien Ch'i". While simultaneously vulturing both sides of the Machaka vs Jomon conflict, the TC sacred cavalry specops, assisted with artifact weapons, are rapidly gobbling up the vulnerable seas, and they have been said to have designs on the lands of the now beleaguered MA Pythium.

Will this menace ever be stopped? Who will find the Khan's weakness? This reporter does not have the answers - all that is known is that Machaka has sworn to continue to cause grievous damage to the armies of Jomon, while T'ien Ch'i plunders their lands and coffers. And since T'ien Ch'i has all but declared war on Jomon already, it is quite obvious that there is a god with a plan to ascend - and that no other ascension plan is feasible, unless it includes provisions to stop this rising star.

Ok.. I guess the consensus is we give up on a replacement player.
I'll ask some people to set him to AI.

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Game On!)

In case anyone is interested in some cheap real-estate. I have no other direct interest than crushing EA Arcos in the immediate future. The cowards attacked our undefended Vine Ogre orchards. Our retribution shall be fierce.

Zeldor March 6th, 2009 03:36 PM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Game On!)

EA ARco is AI.

qio March 7th, 2009 06:16 AM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Game On!)

Hmm.. Was hoping he would have stuck around a little while longer. I had a bone to pick.

So, to clarify the erroneous prior statement.

Nothing to see here. Go home. We have things under control.

On another topic. Should we just agree Zeldor has won? Or is someone going to do something about this rampaging TC that is sprouting Tartarians to ruin the landscape. Lacking a common border, LA Pythium will naturally give its' moral support in any such undertakings.

Zeldor March 7th, 2009 01:01 PM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Game On!)

Tartarians? Where? TC is really a friendly nation :) [well, with one exception now maybe...]. We are surely not unstoppable :)

rdonj March 7th, 2009 03:41 PM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Game On!)

Hmm, well, I can't say as I've seen any yet but with the well of misery up and a call out for nature gems, a tartarian factory must surely be in the works if not already started.

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Game On!)

Sometimes I really hate the way sneaking works :/

rdonj March 11th, 2009 08:01 AM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Game On!)

Hmm. Well, I hate to say this but I have completely lost interest in playing this game. I'm not in any position to win, I'm not in a position to really even affect the stronger players, and due to T'ien Ch'i killing off Jomon I am stuck fighting a war that I am certain I can win, but will prevent me from doing anything else for many, many turns. With Zeldor's impending victory all but certain, I am really looking for a good reason to keep playing. So if there's anyone out there with plans to take on T'ien Ch'i soon, please let me know and I'll do my best to contribute to the cause. Otherwise, I invite anyone to come in and kill my tiny little nation quickly. There's really no chance of getting a sub for my position, and I'd rather not go AI, but I am not interested in sticking around for 20 more turns of skirmishing with machaka while I watch Zeldor ascend unmolested.

If no one decides to take me up on my offer, well, I apologize in advance but I'm going to do my best to convince you that my immediate removal is in your best interests.

Zeldor March 11th, 2009 01:25 PM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Game On!)

Well, Jomon did not try to resist at all. And he was just asking to get invaded. He was lucky it did not happen earlier ;)

And me unmolested? Someone grabbed artifacts I wanted, still trying to find that evil bugger...

Anyway, TC is a friendly nation. It was pretty much one guy with his friends taking all that Jomon provs. Hard to blame him, he has some strange illness...

Isokron March 11th, 2009 01:29 PM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Game On!)

I have ended my NAP with LA TC, we will see what happens when it ends. I also urge anyone else interested in stopping them to do the same (or if you aren't a neighbor at least dispel those globals).

Zeldor March 11th, 2009 01:50 PM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Game On!)

Are you like the one just behind me? With stronger nation by definition? Why would anyone want to help you win then? Because it would end that way :)

Jomon was in the middle of a very bloody war.

What you did was simply exploitive vulturing.

Someday, people will know better than to ever sign a NAP with you. I think that day is coming sooner than you'd like. ;)

Zeldor March 11th, 2009 04:07 PM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Game On!)

I never break NAPs, not like some other people. So people get fair deals with me :) But I will admit there was not much fighting in that game. Hard to say why, maybe lack of some VP victory with VPs at capitals?

Don't worry, I'm not going AI. Well, not yet anyway. We'll have to see what I look like in a few turns, should zeldor turn his gaze in my general direction I don't expect to survive very long.

Isokron: Glad to hear you're intention towards fighting the all powerful Zeldor. Although you do seem to be in the middle of a brawl with the other ulm at the moment :( It would be very nice if anyone else decided to join in because just you and or me I doubt is going to be enough to bring down zeldor. Anyway, I have construction 6 and will forge you items for the low, low price of whatever it costs me to forge them. And I will do the same for anyone else who pledges publically to join the fight against zeldor. Take up this offer quickly, warrior smith supplies are limited, as is my projected lifespan as of this post!

So we have Zeldor, fresh from his kingmaker victory, versus some backwards barbarians and one of the three most powerful nations around. Who is being attacked by the other of the three. Not great odds, I don't think. Even if zeldor is defeated, I doubt that ma pythium will be able to capitalize on it terribly while fighting two superpowers. T'ien Ch'i will be far easier for notpythium to gobble up than for Pythium. Listen not to zeldor's treacherous words!

Zeldor: You're not dangerous because you break NAPs, you're dangerous because you never have to, and just keep growing. I find it amazing that your blatant run towards tartarians and artifacts is not causing more outward alarm. Clearly, there are few people in this game likely to have either aside from yourself with your incredible lead in the research graphs. I suspect the world is largely unable to cope with them at the moment. I guess we'll see!

gotchaaa March 12th, 2009 10:42 PM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Game On!)

TC is practically surrounding me, from both seas and land provinces. I have to demand TC to leave the Sea provinces that connect directly to my capital and the islands TC grabbed from Jomon recently. Or I have to cancel the NAP3 and war is inevitable.

rdonj March 12th, 2009 11:40 PM

Re: HumanWar: Odd Man Out (Game On!)

I retract my previous comment about ulm being one of the game's super powers. He might have been at one point, but seems I haven't been paying much attention to score graphs lately! In any case, TC is still a significant threat that can't be let to grow more powerful, and onto the charge of theoretical but almost completely assured tartarians, this turn I can confirm sightings of elemental royalty.

Also, machaka. I wonder just where we will have our showdown. I'm looking forward to seeing your great spider army finally collapse, and then getting to watch tien chi gobble up all your territories so I can't have them, pursuant to your prior arrangements.
