I was going to ask at turn 30 but, if we get one more vote for it, I'll do it now.

EDIT: Actually, I see that Chris's original post specified 36h/turn after turn 20. So what do people want - 36h or 48h? If there's an obvious preference, we'll go with that (immediately) otherwise we'll stick with the original 36h.

I'm at war and I could surely use 12 or 24h more per turn :) 24 would be better for me.

I'll second the 48h timer.

OK - going to 48h.

Vacation's over peoples - llamaserver is live and we still have 4 nations outstanding. The next turn will host in 48 hours (around 22:20 on Thursday GMT) at the latest.

Re: Crimson Skies - Running

24 hours to go and counting, with 3 nations still outstanding. Tell me here if you need a postponement, coz I aint rolling back just because people staled without notice.

Anything interesting going on? I see that south is getting bloody...

Re: Crimson Skies - Running

I made a move against Pangaea to grab a couple of lands on our side of the water, then started raiding his side of the pond. Pythium wisely decided it was a good time to end our NAP and declared war against me. Can't say I blame him, it was a pretty clever move and he waited the requisite turns.

Ouch... Funny killing your pretender and other mage with your own earthquakke. I thought robe of shadows would protect them... That was a painful lesson. Didn't help that my disease addled death mage routed before even casting a single spell.. Darkness would at least have helped me take down more of Pythium's troops in the process.

Current Status

Pythium. Tartarians, artifacts and elemental royalty.
Chance of victory: Almost certain

T'ien Ch'i. Artifacts, elemental royalty and who knows what else.
Chance of victory: Almost certain

Midgard. Free blood summons and a blood economy in a gem-poor world. No current wars.
Chance of victory: Almost certain

Arcosephale. Kickass pretender, communion magic and the knowhow to use them. No current wars.
Chance of victory: Almost certain

Pangaea. Whatever it takes to beat back an invader of the calibre of T'ien Ch'i.
Chance of victory: Almost certain

Mictlan. A blood economy in a gem-poor world. No current wars. Sense of humour.
Chance of victory: Would be almost certain if I had free blood summons :)

FYI: I asked for an extension of 24 hours after this Friday's turn, which the game admin has approved.

But note that its not the current turn that has been postponed - Arco has his turn in already. When this turn hosts, I'll postpone the next one by 24 hours (unless qio cancels his request before then).

The turn took the full 48 hours (Pan staled) and qio returned early, so he has cancelled his request for a postponement. The turn schedule is therefore unaltered.

We are canceling our NAP with Pan. If she continues to stale we are not letting you vultures get all of her provinces.

Quitti has just been on an overseas trip to Finland. From my previous experience with him, I know he's not the kind of guy to abandom a game without a word. I reckon he's just on a plane over the Atlantic, or something.

Well, it has not been a very lucky weekend for me. My computers gfx-card died on me first, and then my internet connection simply ceased to work (damn ISP messing up with something again). I still have my laptop, and connection to internet at university.

Well, I'm still here, hanging around. You're free to come to visit if you want, qio.

Really, notification emails should be set to 12h, not 8h. I went to bed, notification came and I woke up 3 minutes after hosting, just to see new turn arriving... not cool.

Zapmeister May 8th, 2009 07:40 AM

Re: Crimson Skies - Running

Eight hours was the original setting (by Chris) which I've now changed to 12. Personally, I use the Llamaserver to keep track of when the next turn is due.

Just popping into the thread:

So how is the game shaping up? Who'se left?
What did y'all think of the changes in cCBM?

Yeah, its pretty much a 2-cornered race between Pythium and Midgard. The rest of us (4 players) are still there in a spectator capacity :)

The only comment I've heard about the game parameters have been a few grumblings about the paucity of magic sites, leading to an advantage for the blood nations. But that doesn't seem to be bothering Pythium too much :D

Re: Crimson Skies - Running

It's turn 60. Everyone still OK with the 48 hour turns?

Zeldor May 9th, 2009 02:17 AM

Re: Crimson Skies - Running

Yeah, I like that speed. Even with that unlucky stale.

Zapmeister May 11th, 2009 08:45 PM

Re: Crimson Skies - Running

Just a heads up that 2 consecutive stales by either TC or Pangaea will prompt me to arrange for them to be put to AI, unless any of the other players object.

Did Acro give up? Seemed he had quite a good position in the game

Re: Crimson Skies - Running

Only way for Arcos to win, is to team-up with someone, but that is rather boring. Pythium and Midgard are in much better standing.

Quitti May 13th, 2009 10:49 PM

Re: Crimson Skies - Running

I'm still around, just not competing for the top spot anymore. All I can basically do is eliminate Mictlan from having any chance of winning (even if they did have a slim chance anymore), and after that boosting either pythium or midgård to victory. Hmh.

Wow, that was unexpected :( I guess I must have transgressed some unwritten law. Just wish someone would write the mother down.

I give up. I lost all of my mages and SCs and now the global. I still could influence the game a little, but since exams are starting i won't be having much free time anyway. Well, its been nice playing with you guys :)

Oh no! And here's me thinking that you're practically unstoppable!

Well, where does that leave us? With two large AI positions (Pythium and Arco) still in play, there's probably still some interest left in the game. But I'm not sure that I have the energy for that.

What do you reckon, Quitti? Call the game for Midgard?

Quitti May 26th, 2009 03:55 AM

Re: Crimson Skies - Running

Yeah, Midgård is a clear winner. Thanks for the opposition Zap, you taught me a few things. I hope you learned something too :)

And Congratulations to Zeldor.

Zeldor May 26th, 2009 05:19 AM

Re: Crimson Skies - Running

I wanted to ask you Zap if you want to continue that. Huh, I did not expect Pythium to go AI, I really thought he is much much stronger. He had good gem income, lots of provs and forts to recruit mages from, lots of tarts [I had 0], but without GoH a bit harder to use. And I did overwrite his Well of Misery that turn.

I have 20k gold income, pretty much every land prov forted [or under construction]
~500 commanders
~100 vampire lords
few hundred vampires
all arch devils
all heliophagis
all demon lords
250+ B a turn
~800 gems stocked
small collection of blood stones
big part of artifacts [including Chalice, Ark...]
some elemental royalty
LOTS of demons, fiends, fould spawns...

If we agree it's over I can attach my turn file.

Zapmeister May 26th, 2009 05:43 AM

Re: Crimson Skies - Running

OK, its over. Congratulations Zeldor.

And yes, I learned a few things from everybody I went up against. Mostly, I learned to never again play Mictlan without a bless :)
