Very happy that you didn't win that, I must say :) I was actually expecting worse losses, so I'm sort of happy with the result. Of course, you still have tons of those mindless guys left. Not sure what exactly I'm going to do about those ones yet, when 90% of my magic is utterly useless on them. How on earth you managed to raise so many of them is beyond me... it must have taken ages. Anyway, as you can see there is plenty of fight left in me yet. For the time being at least. I will probably lose the battle up there eventually, but I will try to at least give you a challenge. At least now my treasury is a bit healthier :D

No, same Win XP. It *should* have something to do with CB version installed, but I could swear I updated CB on both machines.
Ironically, it shows correct replay on my work PC, where Dominions is generally bugged for some reason (Ctrl key doesnt work, so cant copy orders, force-move stealthy units, select whole groups of commanders etc).

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

Lapis is using CBM 1.41. It is not the same 1.41 that it was originally, Llama updated it slightly on Llamaserver and then to the CBM thread too. If you downloaded and installed 1.41 from the original thread before Llama updated it, you would have a very teeny weeny (but perhaps enough to cause the replay oddities?) different version of 1.41.

ok, tien chi is finally toast.

But fighting 2 nations at once is always hard.

i will now visit this thread more sparsely, so if you need some administration to do, please send me a PM.

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

Heh, I'm pretty sure I would have handily won it except one of the mages I moved there snuck and hid in the bushes watching the fight, counting all the pretty gems I gave her. :(

I was wondering why you only sent two mages vs what, 16-20? I hate when you have that one crucial mage sneak instead of attack... really makes you wish it was control to sneak instead of moving sometimes.

Now I will spend the next 24 hours trying to figure out just what you were intending to throw at me. Yay!

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

The majority of players have yet to submit turns. I suppose there's still a decent amount of time left, but the possibility of mass staling is looming.

Toran July 6th, 2009 02:08 AM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

Well, I'm just prepping my turn right now. Hope others do as well - staling/dropping from a game ain't fun (for the other players!).

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

Still, wazzup with Machaka? I guess we need a sub or AI, or maybe someone can contact Bluff?

Toran July 6th, 2009 03:52 AM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

Oh, right, there's nations who are worse positioned, and Machaka still seems playable...? I have PM'ed Hadrian to delay a bit - my vote would go for subbing Machaka as well.

rdonj July 6th, 2009 03:59 AM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

So far as I can tell machaka is only fighting me. I've killed a tartarian, taken a few provinces and killed some of his spider armies, but so far I haven't really done significant damage to him. However over the next few turns I intend to have another few dead tartarians. So whether machaka goes ai or is subbed out, the sooner it happens the better for machaka's position.

rdonj July 6th, 2009 06:12 AM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

Well, I can see my fears were mostly unfounded. Nice job with the last-minute turn in everyone. Just Machaka and Caelum staled this turn. Much better than I was starting to expect.

I also note I got one of Baalz's marble creatures this turn. :) Let's see how long its killer lasts now, though.

Alpine Joe July 6th, 2009 09:50 AM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

Bah that was a stale that never should have happened. I had my turn ready and thought I sent it, and hadn't. Oh well. If it makes you feel better, I am fighting Machaka as well rdonj :) Although i have been holding off invading him since the stales.

rdonj July 6th, 2009 09:58 AM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

Ah. That's very classy of you AJ :) I wish I could say the same but it's hard ignoring someone with 3 tartarians and an earth king on your doorstep. Well, here's to machaka's destruction once the stale-storm clears.

Hadrian_II July 6th, 2009 05:54 PM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

postponed the game for 72 hours, and put a ask for sub thread up.

Dimaz July 9th, 2009 06:20 PM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

I'll try to improve situation for Machaka, but first I need to know current diplomatic relations.

rdonj July 9th, 2009 06:24 PM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

You're at war with nehekhara, and apparently caelum but he hasn't been fighting you since the stales. Ah well, the time of recovery is over for nehekhara. Time to start getting serious.

Dimaz July 10th, 2009 01:55 AM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

Then I propose NAP to Caelum, as for Nehekara - I agree about getting serious and all that :)

Dimaz July 11th, 2009 10:16 AM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

I need some more time to sort out all the mess after 5 stales, so please delay the hosting by 24h.

Toran July 11th, 2009 10:19 AM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

Maybe consider PM'ing Hadrian_II about that as well, he's no longer playing and might not be reading the game thread all the time...

Hadrian_II July 12th, 2009 10:40 AM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

sorry that i missed to postpone the game, but i was not really around yesterday.

Dimaz July 12th, 2009 03:01 PM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

Sorry, but I think I'm out. First I don't have much time to do the turns really, and considering I'll be able to play for 2 weeks only, and that with every additional stale it's just harder to make something of what is left of Machaka, the best decision is not to try.

rdonj July 12th, 2009 03:12 PM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

so... you're going ai? Or are we looking for another sub?

Dimaz July 12th, 2009 03:31 PM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

I don't know. Perhaps the best thing is to go AI now. But if someone else wants to play, he'll still have something to play with. So I'll send the turn with switching to AI 2 hours before the host, if no one takes Machaka tomorrow.

Dimaz July 13th, 2009 02:00 PM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

Machaka switched to AI.

rdonj July 13th, 2009 06:43 PM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

Hrm. Well, that turn went rather more poorly than I'd hoped. Also, I thought tomb swarms were cold immune, not resistant. I never would have sent those two mages in if I'd realized they weren't immune. That said I still almost had that statue. Just like a certain tartarian in another battle. I do appear to be on the way out but I'll try to make it difficult.

Toran July 16th, 2009 01:28 AM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

Hiya - could we maybe extend the hosting interval to 72 hours? It takes a bit to prepare a turn in this stage now.. :)

Alpine Joe July 17th, 2009 09:05 AM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

Could I get a 6-hour delay on this turn? Turn file didn't get sent, so I had it resent, but I'm at work now and can't get my turn. Normally I wouldn't bother, but with Toran about to "colonize" me, I can't really afford a stale at this point.

Toran July 18th, 2009 11:35 AM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

Ahem - two things,

a) could we maybe give admin rights to another player (if there's not much more needed for that job than watching the game thread, I volunteer)

b) could we get a voting on getting a general 72h schedule for this game?

I really hope Hadrian reads his mails so he extends this one before tomorrow...

Toran July 19th, 2009 10:34 AM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

Dee-dum. Noone here backing me up to extend the tight hosting schedule for this game?

Should we just wait/hope for Hadrian_II to pop up again, or pester llamabeast for transfering adminship for the game?

I for one am fine with the current schedule, but if others need to change it to a longer interval, I think I could live with that :)

AFAIK Hadrian was not around this weekend (at least he mentioned that in the Magellan thread on Wednesedat or Thursday I think), I am sure he will pop in here when he is back online.

rdonj July 19th, 2009 11:11 AM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

Personally I don't mind. My turns really don't take that long, though I do appreciate the extra time to decide to switch orders around.

Hadrian_II July 19th, 2009 01:25 PM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

sent toran the admin pw.

sorry for the delays, i was away over the weekend.

Toran July 20th, 2009 01:48 AM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

I wasn't suggesting that Hadrian_II had left us, just finding that several requests for delay couldn't be handled, probably due to his absence. Just to state it clearly :)

Dee-dum, we would need a few more votes on the schedule extension, per favore!

Toran July 20th, 2009 04:31 PM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

Following my own request, I'll postpone for just 24 hours. Would still be happy to get a few more votes on a general 72h schedule..

Toran July 23rd, 2009 04:48 PM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

Well, since noone feels like replying to my 72h schedule request, I'll have to ask for a 6h delay myself.

Sounds selfish to me as game admin, but will be necessary. Better than no Pythium .trn, I hope ;)

Baalz July 23rd, 2009 06:28 PM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

I don't mind bumping it up to 72h.

Not for me :(

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 10/16 Players left

Well, I just have to say I wouldn't cope with a 48h schedule any longer. So unless anyone accuses me of "abuse", I'll switch to 72h from now on.

If you object, please let me know, I'm just taking the freedom to count a few non-voters as "I don't mind" ;)

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 7/16 Players left

Well, I seem to have saved Nehekhara from Machaka and Agartha. So for the moment, Nehekhara is "safe". I definitely had some interesting battles in this game... but I would rather leave this game soon. So I am going to look for a sub. Hopefully said sub doesn't get pounced on as soon as he comes in :D Assuming I can find one.

Toran July 31st, 2009 03:41 AM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 7/16 Players left

Memo to myself: It is good to send a "placeholder turn file" when you don't know if you'll manage to complete the "full" turn in time.

It's not good to send that placeholder if you're the only player left before auto-host.

grmbl. I sent only half the troops I wanted to send .... :)

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 7/16 Players left

So this turn, I picked up 4 artifacts and a ring of wizardry from various combats. Who needs construction!

Wow. Caelum it is, I believe?
I guess thats gonna make you quite popular.

Seems I staled this turn :( Sorry about that.

Kuritza August 3rd, 2009 06:30 AM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 7/16 Players left

I'm not about staling. :)

rdonj August 3rd, 2009 06:40 AM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 7/16 Players left

Oh, I noticed the armageddon. In fact it took out the best artifact I picked up last turn :( I guess that will teach me not to stale.

Toran August 8th, 2009 04:47 AM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 7/16 Players left

Dang - I'll be back later than planned, so I request a 12 hours hosting delay from myself.

Toran August 12th, 2009 06:11 AM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 7/16 Players left

Postponing for 24h due to a player request.

rdonj August 13th, 2009 12:11 AM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 7/16 Players left

I have found a sub and PMed toran about this. Theoretically at this point I am out of the game and another player is taking over for me as nehekhara. I enjoyed the opportunity to face baalz in combat without being crushed summarily, even if I did take quite a beating in doing so. I hope that my sub will not have quite the baptism by fire that I had in this game and that, should nehekhara not be victorious, it will be able at least to survive until the end of the game. I guess I'll have to wait a while to find that out.

Toran August 13th, 2009 01:24 AM

Re: Lapis MA CBM Running 7/16 Players left

Okay, I have switched the email adress. If algae nymph checks to re-send the turn file, he/she could test if everything is correct.
Algae nymph, just drop in here to the game thread and PM me if there's any trouble!
