Gold star of approval!

Thank you The Vanishag for not only playing but for dragging it out to the bitter end. Great job!

I hope you will consider playing in Balance p III!

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

Hey guys, this morning I postponed the game for 6 hours (which can be seen from the log). However the llamaserver seemed to blow through that without paying attention.

I've rewound the turn and will delay it for an additional 6 hours, to let the only other person who staled submit a turn.

Also, we've gone 70xish turns on 24 hours cycle - Congrats all.

I am going out of town Saturday night, returning tues, so the game hosting will be altered to accomodate that.

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

Guys,

I just found out that Yomi has been staling.
He had told me he needed more time (for a failing monitorr) and that he wanted to talk with y'all about conceding but I did not realize he had not come back.

I have sent a message to him to see where this stands. How do you all want to proceed?

AlgaeNymph November 4th, 2009 09:22 PM

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

Well huh.

I say we wait for him to reply.

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

Okay Guys, I have just had a week that consisted of an absolute cluster**** of computer and real life problems, one after the other. I found a dominions-literate friend to cover for my simple games, but this one was out of his league, so I was forced to let it stale. At this point, I should be back in business, and ready to resume the game, but after looking at the latest turn, I wonder if there is really any point. ChrisP has a pretty massive lead in nearly every category, with a well of misery that is over 350 death gems, etc. I don't really see even a concerted effort by all of us being able to stop him, and would be willing to declare him the winner at this point. Of course, if you guys all want to keep fighting, I will try to recover from my stales as best I can, and my nation certainly has a lot of resources left I can try to leverage against him.

HOwever, rather than waste many hours of time in lategame micromanagement, my preference would be to start some kind of balancegame3 at this point.

Thoughts?

Hm...

I'm open to a new game.

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

Hey guys,

Joe, I'm sorry to hear about your troubles.

I would also vote to declare the game finished, especially if one or more people really didn't wish to continue.

How about if both ossa and algae wish to continue this game, we will (as it will be 3-3) and if not we start up Balance 3. I wouldn't mind giving ghoul first choice of nations.

Is that acceptable?

I'd also like to find out what people thought aboout the changes to the path boosters, gem generators, etc. And or what they would like to see.

Chris

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

Nothing from Ossa or AlgaeNymph yet.

And Yomi hasn't submitted a turn... what should we do?

AlgaeNymph November 6th, 2009 10:12 AM

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

I'd like to start up Balance 3.

Alpine Joe November 6th, 2009 11:44 AM

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

My turn is waiting to submit if people want to continue playing.

However it sounds like a majority are interested in calling it quits? Of course we don't want to screw over ghoul31 if he still thinks he has a legitimate shot at winning. I will take a few hours to hear from Ossa, then submit my turn.

chrispedersen November 6th, 2009 02:56 PM

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

Leaving the question of Balance2 for a moment, I have opened a thread for Balance3. I'd love to start general discussion on parameters for Balance 3

chrispedersen November 7th, 2009 11:09 PM

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

Well, as there has been no further discussion, absent objection I will close this game. I'll leave a further 24 hours for discussion.

ghoul31 November 7th, 2009 11:37 PM

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

I don't understand why you are ending this right in the middle of the game.

chrispedersen November 8th, 2009 12:10 AM

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

Well, I asked what you would like to have happen ghoul.

Yomi wishes to concede/quit. He's in second place, and Agartha also expressed a desire to quit and start Balance 3.

Right now, my gem income is something like 140 a turn (from memory). I have all the globals, 26 forts or so, and an income in excess of 6000 per turn. I am #1 in every category, except provinces, iirc, and I'm in position to pick up provinces fairly easily.

The other players don't wish to continue (with the possible exception of ossa, who we haven't heard from). I haven't heard any suggestions from anyone on what to do *other* than conclude the game.

Shall we set them to AI? Hold the game and attempt to recruit players, knowing it will be very difficult to get replacements?
If we do change the players out, they will have a huge learning curve - and it sort of changes the integrity of the game.

Also, I would note that you and I have a NAP+3, and you've never notified me that its off. So honorably speaking, its at least 3 more turns before hostilities would commence.

chrispedersen November 8th, 2009 12:49 AM

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

Hey one more note.

I just downloaded my turn. Despite paying way more than 100 gems to cast spells none of my spells were cast.

The turn came back with the wizards still casting their spells.
Did anyone else have this problem or just me?

It seems as if the magic phase was just.. skipped. So for example I should have more than 100 more children of rhuax on our border.

I am more than happy to have somoene neutral download the turn and verify what I said - for example, llama.

ghoul31 November 8th, 2009 08:49 AM

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

Well I am getting ready to attack you. That should even things out. I am am ending our NAP as of now.

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

If ghoul wants to keep playing, I will as well. I think he will come to realize Chris P's inevitable rise when the latter thoroughly crushes him.

If you are still playing, then submit a turn.

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

Hey guys... It looks as if everyone is once again playing and that we are going to continue ...

I will try to get my turn in and to be more punctual thereafter, tho I do not believe I will be able to keep up a 24 hour schedule..

Good luck all!

I am concerned about lack of spells. If it happens again, we will have to roll back and submit to illwinter... so lets keep our fingers crossed!

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

If nobody is going to send in a turn, just declare me the winner and lets end this.

chrispedersen November 16th, 2009 12:20 AM

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

Sorry =). I'm working on mine.. but see my mail to you...

AlgaeNymph November 28th, 2009 11:46 PM

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

My nation is losing big time and I really don't have the time for all the micromanagement required, particularly since I'm not playing this for money.

I'd like to find someone who thinks they can turn around a losing nation and would like some expert guidance.

chrispedersen November 29th, 2009 12:15 AM

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

yeah, this is what I pretty much expected... Algae can you post for subs?

And we'd appreciate if you can stick around till one is found.

We're still waiting on Alpine for the turn.

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

Hey guys..
I had two big fights this turn. My version shows they won - but the map shows I lost.
I don't mind - we don't have to rollback - but if you won a fight against me can you please tell me

a). What commanders are left on the province, and ending status. Ie., what afflictions, hp, etc.
b). What troops?

ghoul31 January 17th, 2010 09:36 AM

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

In Lombardia, the battle shows you won, but the summary shows I won. I don't know what it means.

chrispedersen January 17th, 2010 04:27 PM

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

Interesting. I think we should send these to KO. I know there is a patch coming out, and perhaps they can nail this one down.

This is the first time I have heard of both oppenents showing player A winning, and the map reflecting player B winning.
Sad, as mine shows me killing even your big two SCs.

Anyway, Ghoul, can you send zip up your turn file, father land file and send it to info@illwinter.com. Also send your last turn .trn and .2h?

I'll do the same.

We'll give them a couple of days to respond....?

ghoul31 January 17th, 2010 05:39 PM

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

what is a turn and fatherland file?

chrispedersen January 17th, 2010 05:58 PM

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

Arg. widows turns of viewing file extensions by default. In xp you need to go to folder view and turn on viewing file extensions.

the turn file is the file in your saved games folder that ends in
.trn

This is the file that you get via mail from llamaserver.

similiarly in the same folder you should have a file named
fatherlnd or something similar.

the .2h file is the file you send TO llama - it contains your orders for the turn.

chrispedersen January 20th, 2010 02:31 PM

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

ghoul, alpine...

Can you send me a list of what was left and what was killed in the fights..

Ie., intelligence so I know what I'm fighting?

I don't mind continuing, if I have some idea of whats there, and whats available for you to throw at me....

Alpine Joe January 20th, 2010 03:02 PM

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

I don't mind making public that you killed nothing of mine in that fight chris. If it helps, the whole fight was basically your troops trying to kill two thugged tarts (no artifacts) while wrathful skies killed them from my pheonix. The latter was killed but is immortal so is back in my cap with meaningless afflictions. I picked up no items from your dead commanders.

chrispedersen January 21st, 2010 04:20 AM

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

ER more to the point, I wanted to know what is there...
Private would have been preferred as well +)

chrispedersen January 22nd, 2010 05:30 PM

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

Guys, cmon please.

Right now I have no idea whats occupying my provinces and sieging my castles. Kind of leaves me in the dark on how to do my turn!

ghoul31 January 23rd, 2010 08:03 AM

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

So roll the game back then.
Or use this as a handicap since you are winning.

chrispedersen January 23rd, 2010 07:37 PM

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

I'll wait 12 hours for comment and roll it back, then.

chrispedersen January 24th, 2010 12:48 PM

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

So its rolled back. So we need to resubmit turns.

chrispedersen February 9th, 2010 12:32 PM

Re: Balance: Upload Pretenders

Guys,

Between moving, repairing the house, and the other game I am in, I have not been able to keep up with this game. I haven't looked at the position in more than two weeks; the idea of having to redo turn 83 is just.. sickening.

I am sorry that I have dragged my feet. I don't think ghoul31 has any chance of winning actually - but I've long since stopped caring. I am willing to declare him the winner.

I'm also willing to look for a sub. Cleary we have to do something.

I know that most of you are in the same boat on this. I like the balance mods and I don't want to hurt the series. But I need some guidance on what to do.

Chris
