Lupus is back at the frosty helm of Neifelhiem so you may return to your regularly scheduled lamentations of the women. Have fun guys!

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

ok, i have set the game back to 48h timer.

p.s. i am finally death, fighting fomoria, ctis and marveni at the same time in the end was too much for yomi. So now would be the time for someone else to take over as admin, especially as i will be away for 5 weeks starting the 14. january.

Dimaz January 2nd, 2010 03:54 PM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

I think I can take the admining, I never did it with llamaserver game but I hosted some ordinary PBEM games in past years. I check the forums at least every 10 hours so I hope there will be no problems with missed delay requests. Also I don't know other players' opinion but I prefer to move to 72h schedule instead of 48.

Ironhawk January 4th, 2010 03:15 PM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

Thanks for setting up the game and adminning, Hadrian!

I dunno about 72h. I could certainly use that time, however every 72h game I've been in the players have lost interest rapidly after going to that timing. Seems to me that beyond 48hrs people stop thinking about the game.

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

My apologies, because I know this goes against the Player's Pledge, but could someone switch Tir Na Nog to AI? There's nothing I can do; I'm stuck in a single fort besieged by a hero I can't beat, but because it's just the single hero, he can't do any damage to the walls. So all I do is load the turn and send it back.

Thanks.

And apologies to those who have sent me PMs; there was an illness and then death in my family, and it's made things a bit difficult for the past few months.

Fantomen January 6th, 2010 03:50 AM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

No one would blame you for going AI in that situation.

You can do it yourself, just go to options>become computer controlled and send the turn in.

Dimaz January 6th, 2010 05:00 AM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

I received the admin pass so now you can direct admin requests to me :) So what other players think about 72h? We have only 2 votes so far.

Sounds good to me.

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

Can I please get an extension on this turn? I had planned to do my turn tonight but instead ended up having a 4 hour long raging argument with an ex-girlfriend. I'm exhausted and can't concentrate even in the slightest. I'd really appreciate some more time...

Dimaz January 7th, 2010 04:47 AM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

Postponed by 24h by Ironhawk's request.

Dimaz January 7th, 2010 09:00 AM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

Somehow it still shows old hosting time. I'll try to postpone again. Can someone experienced with llamaserver games admining tell if it's normal behavior?

Ironhawk January 8th, 2010 05:18 PM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

I have heard that sometimes you have to give the Llamaserver commands twice before they take effect. Probably best bet is to make a command, wait 10 minutes, and if it has not worked, do it again.

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

Hey guys, sorry about the stales. Had a massive computer failure and haven't managed to get online since before christmas.

I'll be back within the next week, if my seas haven't been completely gobbled in the meantime.

Dimaz January 10th, 2010 01:12 PM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

I think we should wait for Ishamoridin now that we know that he's going to reappear. He already has 2 stales in a row. I'll add 24h now and tomorrow if needed.

Dimaz January 14th, 2010 01:50 PM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

No news from Ishamoridin yet. I'll add another 24 now.

Ironhawk January 15th, 2010 05:41 PM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

This is the fourth time Ryleh has staled. I appreciate that he is having computer problems but we should probably begin looking for a replacement so that the game can move on?

Ishamoridin January 15th, 2010 08:21 PM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

While, obviously, I would prefer not to be replaced, I'd advise you to do so if possible. I can get online every couple of days, but my home PC is still MIA and I'm not sure when I'll have it back now.

Apologies for the situation.

Dimaz January 16th, 2010 03:27 AM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

Should I start a special thread and pause the game while we're looking for sub? In our community we had no sub practice so I don't have admining experience regarding that.

Fantomen January 16th, 2010 08:24 AM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

Yes, that would be the right way to do it.

Sensori January 18th, 2010 07:15 AM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

I have volunteered to take over the position as the DARK LORD OF R'LYEH. Dark, because it's pretty damn dark down here in the depths!

So... Let's see what I can do down here!

Ironhawk January 18th, 2010 06:10 PM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

Whoa whoa !!!!

I was just informed in IRC that Marverni was set to AI without any forewarning of us here. We might need to rollback....

Ironhawk January 18th, 2010 07:12 PM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

Oh ****!! A new turn just generated. I think we might now have lost the ability to get a new player into Marv permanently...

Man what a mess...

I'll send llamabeast an email and see what our options are. I have a feeling we may just have to suffer through it tho at this point.

Sensori January 18th, 2010 11:59 PM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

If it'd be possible to take two turns back, I guess that'd mean one less stale for R'lyeh... So I'd be all for it! :p The less turns wasted doing nothing the better I'd say.

AlgaeNymph January 19th, 2010 12:48 AM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

Or five turns back, eliminating all of R'lyeh's stales.

Dimaz January 19th, 2010 02:22 AM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

As the new admin I have partial responsibility for the current issue with Marv. So, though I don't like the 2-turn rollback idea personally, I can live with it. However I think the opinion of all (or at least majority) of the participants should be heard. I see why Rlyeh and Ctis are interested in rollbacks; what about others?

Ironhawk January 19th, 2010 02:33 AM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

CTis and I have been involved in a bloodbath where we have each lost hundreds of gems in our war and revealed strategic intentions and tactical tricks to each other. Rolling back through this would be a complete mess.

If it were anything less than us losing control of a major player I would object. But as this stands, i think Marv going AI will ruin the game. So I vote for rollback (and a lot of praying that it works!) for the two turns needed to put a human back in for Marv.

Ironhawk January 19th, 2010 02:42 AM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

If he went AI two turns ago that means it was even before the Formoria attack on Helheim, wasnt it? Man what a mess...

rdonj January 19th, 2010 02:52 AM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

Might be a good idea to get a sub lined up before you roll back. Nothing would be worse than doing a multi-turn rollback to get a sub in, then finding that you can't find a sub.

Dimaz January 19th, 2010 04:02 AM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

Maybe we can come to some other solution, without rollbacks? As Ironhawk already mentioned that will create really huge mess for everyone involved in wars in these 2 turns (so, basically, for everyone except Rlyeh).
Maybe just divide Marv lands between players equally or something like that, I don't know.
Anyway I'm not going to do anything until the majority of the remaining players say something here. Since I'm not the initial admin I don't know all the nick-nation correspondence so please state something like "Nation XX votes for YY".

Fantomen January 19th, 2010 06:12 AM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

I think Marverni going AI is a game waster. It's simply too big and essential in the power balance. I therefore vote for a rollback.

It is with great reluctance though. I will not be able to repeat my very successful surprise attack on Helheim. So this rollback will cause the whole game to change direction.

Ironhawk January 19th, 2010 01:33 PM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

If I am reading everyone's posts right, the vote stands like so:

ryleh - rollback
arco - rollback
formoria - rollback
sauro - rollback
helheim - ?
ctis - ?

So we just need LupusFatalis and AlgaeNymph to cast their votes

Dimaz January 19th, 2010 03:06 PM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

No, as a player (Sauro) I'm against rollback. I don't see how the mess created by 2-turn rollback can be smaller than caused by Marv going AI. However as I understand Ctis is also for rollback so we already have majority here. Still want to hear waht Helheim and Niefel have to say.

LupusFatalis January 19th, 2010 04:39 PM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

I am certainly against a rollback, I'm currently waging war with 2 nations, 3 if Marvini is AI... And it kinda screws me over if my enemies now know how I plan to knock out their SCs.

I'm for a rollback.

Hopefully, this won't be a big drama like in NaV. ;)

LupusFatalis January 19th, 2010 08:06 PM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

It is was it is though.

Ironhawk January 19th, 2010 11:01 PM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

Well the votes are in, then: 5 yes, 1 no.

Up to you how to proceed Dimaz, you're the one with final authority.

Dimaz January 20th, 2010 01:41 AM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

Hm, for me it's more like 4 yes, 2 no and 1 (Niefel) still has no vote. I'll put a thread to look for sub, then.

Ironhawk January 20th, 2010 02:00 AM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

Oh you were voting against? My bad. As for niefel, yeah I did forget him, you're right. He is so hard to contact I guess it just skipped my mind. You might try sending him a PM?

As for the sub - no I wouldnt go and find a sub until we have a decision about Marverni and the rollbacks. Ianuki (the original Marv player) was actually the one who noticed the AI in the first place. And he has told me that if we do rollback and need a temp sub that he can cover the position for a while. So until we are sure and have rolled back, its probably not worth it to find a sub.

You should definitely turn off the hosting timer tho - I see its still set to generate tomorrow?

Dimaz January 20th, 2010 02:33 AM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

Ok I'll try to get in touch with Niefel by PM.
If we already have sub for Marverni - fine, then everything is ready for rollback.
Unfortunately I don't know how to turn off timer completely (I see only postpone, force hosting, change interval & turn off quickhost options), so I just postpone by 24h every day.

Ossa January 20th, 2010 02:56 PM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

Puh - dont try so hard next time, I'm fine with anything - rollback or not.

As the majority goes for a rollback, I'll also vote this way.

Dimaz January 20th, 2010 03:07 PM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

Ok so majority is indeed for rollback. Since we already have a sub I will do it as soon as I have enough time. I'll post here after that.

Dimaz January 21st, 2010 06:16 AM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

We are back to turn 68. Marv is in the nation list now. Let's try to end this mess without too much trouble.

LupusFatalis January 21st, 2010 01:55 PM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

Think we can extend this turn ~48 hrs. I might be able to get it in on time--but I'm not sure I'll have the time till saturday--and I'd really rather not stale, kind of a big turn for me.

Ironhawk January 21st, 2010 02:17 PM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

I'm fine with a long delay on this turn too. It was a very big turn for me last time we did it and now I need to come up with a completely new strategy

Dimaz January 21st, 2010 04:01 PM

Re: Aquamarine EA CBM Game Running

No problem, 48h added.
Hope we'll be able to return to schedule after all this problems are finished (however I prefer 72h as I said earlier).
