Re: Are you tough enough to be the "King of the Hill"?
ok I finaly surenderd.
thanks to Phoenix-D for the great game. conclusions: although I got lucky with the placement and had over 2/3rds of the galaxy, phoenix was compensated by haveing way more mineral planets. I got to confedent that I was winning, till phoenex sent fleets of 30+ ships with minesweepers through all 4 of my defended warppoints all within 3 months... I should not have gone for drones, it was a waste of time. I need to lower my organics and rad raceial traits and increace maint and mineral ext. build enough minesweepers damnit!!!! missiles ships are probibly not the greatest for defending warp points... alright! pair me up again Asmala! |

Good game se5a. I thought I was screwed for a while, especially when you pushed me out of Iolo (one system from my HW; we started pretty close)

G'day se5a, It appears we are up for KOTH slaughter.
How about: Standard Koth No Ancient Rated? I'm keen to lose more points http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif |
Re: Are you tough enough to be the "King of the Hill"?
greetings from across the ditch!
check your email. I would like no intel, and good homeplanet value. all rest KOTH standard. I think no No Ancient is koth standard anyway isint it? |

Re: Are you tough enough to be the "King of the Hill"?
No ancient is NOT koth standard. But it's fairly common. And some have suggested it be adopted as a standard setting. As far as I know Asmala has not done that, I know I did not before him.

ohhh no ancient! duh, I was thinking ancient tech aka ruins...
ahh what do you mean by rated? |
Re: Are you tough enough to be the "King of the Hill"?
As Geoschmo said ancient trait isn't Banned in KOTH standard settigs. But no ruins is default.
|
Re: Are you tough enough to be the "King of the Hill"?
Perhaps a new post should be made, just reminding us all of what 'Koth Standard' is?

Re: Are you tough enough to be the "King of the Hill"?
Well...
I was in a KOTH game with Electrum. Got my Last turn on Saturday. Now, the game is gone off PBW. Mmmmmm, I'm left in puzzlement. |

Re: Are you tough enough to be the "King of the Hill"?
I just realized I am waiting for a shot at the King, for nothing. I have no chance of winning. My possible opponents are Rex, Bbegmott or Asmala. All of whom I have played, and all of whom have beat me rather handily in past games.
I might as well save time and go back to the bottom now and get back to playing. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif |

Thanks for checking it out, Geo. I didn't think of looking at the KOTH page (because, Last I knew, I was waiting on a turn from Electrum). |

This was a fun game and I even held first place for a fair bit but in the long run I couldn't get my research done quickly enough to give Parabolize a good fight. Parabolize, thank you for the game. Well, Parabolize, it looks like me and you (if I read it correctly).
I prefer KOTH standard with 1 good starting planet...what is your "bid"? (now we can be in TWO rated games with each other http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif ) |

Nodachi- I have no idea how you paid for the orbital SYs and all the frigates but thats what gave you 1st place most the game. It was fun http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif .

K.O.T.H. Master Belisarius vs Katchoo
Katchoo surrenders. Congratulations to MB on a well fought match. Nothing exactly went right for me in this game. Rock Planets were scarce, which led to low Resource Mining, which led to me having to mothball every Ship that came off the assembly line right away. Even if I unmothballed my reserve Fleet of Frigates in time to strike first I would have either lost the Ships to MBs Warp Point defenses or lack of Resources. Sometimes you bite the dog, and other times the dog bites you. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/blush.gif Asmala, go ahead and bump MB up to the 3rd Floor. I'm taking a bit of a break with Christmas barrelling down, but I should be ready to be victimized again by the start of next week. |

RexTorres (Rex Enclave) vs BBegemott (Vengeful Dreamers)
King match Turn 2406.9 10 starting planets + Tesco Map + default I was successfully resisting RexTorres pressure so far. If 'resistance' is the right word to mean that I was basically watchng his fleets destroy ~40 or so planets, including 6 huge breathebles. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif For the first time in the game I found myslef in the 1st place in this turn. However stats mean very little when stellar manip ships come into action. I have glassed 5 Rextorres homeplanets already, but there are ~140 enemy ships split in two fleets in my teritory. And they pretend to rampage my homeworlds as well... Now things are starting to heat up. The homeworld rush continues http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif |

Re: Are you tough enough to be the "King of the Hill"?
David, do you actually play SE4, or just hang out in the forum making avatars? If so you should join KOTH.
|
Re: Are you tough enough to be the "King of the Hill"?
I do play SE4 from time to time, but I have never tried any of the 'multiplayer' options.
Is the setup hard? what is involved? Maybe I should give it a try. Cheers! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif |
Re: Are you tough enough to be the "King of the Hill"?
Well, the setup is basically one-to-one competitive matchs. The settings themselves are usually fairly standard, but you may convince your opponent to alter these. The difficulty of the game itself depends on the level of your adversary. You will have a much easier time against my League than against Asmala or Rex. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
