Even though I agree Micah was a bit undiplomatic in stating his sentiment on drop outs, I'm saddened when I see 'stfu' comments.

Hope something nice comes your way to bring you merriment http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Well, that was fairly uncalled for. I think that sort of behavior would usually warrant an apology, but I certainly won't be holding my breath for one.

I disagree.

If you've lost, it's perfectly acceptable to go AI.

Personally, I stick around and go for scorched earth against whoever attacked me second (/me points at R'lyeh), but really, is it sportmanlike to stay in a game when you have 0 chance of winning just to spoil for one or the other remaining players?

Anyway, while it was ungracious to tell Micah to shut up, it was more ungracious of Micah to go after somebody who just lost the game. Good sportmanship means not criticizing the sportsmanship of someone who just lost.

I'm not saying what the right way is, but personally I'd much rather my enemies fight tooth and nail to the last man and expect the same. It's not like turns take long when truly have little chance anyway, and if the only way you have fun with dominions is when you win the game, that's a lot different from my perspective.

DrP:

Is it not being a spoiler in the other direction when you roll over and die when you get into a bad position? Giving your conqueror free license to stomp the AI when the going gets rough is arguably a lot more unbalancing than fighting to the last man intelligently and under player control. Or even the threat of playing intelligently, even if you're not putting effort into the turns beyond 5 minutes of work.

I'm also kind of dumbfounded that you could find my remarks somehow more offensive than the blatant personal attacks that Aezeal made to me.

And if we're going to bring up the larger concept of sportsmanship I'll challenge you to tell me the last time a pro or even college sports team just decided to stop playing. I've seen basketball blowouts with 1 minute to go and one team down 20 points, but they always play out that last minute. It would be a huge scandal if the losing team just decided to walk off the court with time on the clock because they'd "already lost." I'm not saying they'll play 100%, but they don't just walk out either.

Edit:
I was also mostly talking about Ctis when I brought up the AI thing in the first place since I wasn't sure what shape Patala was in. There is a point at which you can't really affect the game any longer, but that's usually after your capital is taken.

Hmm, enough of this, please!

But then I suddenly felt like saying something, sorry http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I actually find it more offensive to meet commanders renamed to f3h2, than a player turning AI when it is going bad. Take that Praetorius http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif I have actually been tempted to declare war on you just because of your renaming policies http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I hope that this is settled. I'm not to fond of this whole discussion.

Re: Late Era Team Game

I do not only have fun when I win, but what I was facing was just way to much, I won't be able to do more than the AI really, and the position I happen to be in I can't even have fun trying to get at a person (which I have been known to do when appropriate) since I just don't have any options.

As I said.. I could just train indie chaff.. the AI can do that too.

I still think your patronizing remarks about me where much more offensive than what I said. You know nothing of my position. I happen to be 28, having an actual live which involves relatively long work hours and driving times and working hours my incredibly hard with quite some responibilities. I play my games till I think can't really do much more than the AI and it's my call not yours when I decide my precious spare time is better spend on another game or the rest of my life.

PS I have not actively set anything to AI since Agri wanted to try and do stuff.
