I just kinda feel like I've done nothing but chase villians down in marathons in this game.

The game is good...Just occasionally a little too good in the complicated plots department.

I'm with Narf here. While I really enjoy the long complicated plots and suchlike, sometimes I have a hankering for a simple dungeon-crawl session. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Currently my XP is at 152689 (Grr! 311 XP away from levelling up!), and my wealth is at 10765.13 GP, if I'm accounting correctly.

Wealth, not gold; has an impact on CR approprietness; a Headband of Intellect +6 is valued at 36,000 gp; I'm looking for the market value of useful equipment plus your loose cash; the 10,765.13 is definitively off.

You're nearly 18th, at which point you should normally have roughly 440,000 gp worth of stuff. I recognized that this was happening, which was the reason I asked.

Oh, and the spellbook - don't forget the spellbook; 100 gp/spell level.

Note: Items I don't use are counted as half market price(money I get if I sell it), and items I use are counted as full market price(since I'm not going to sell them anytime soon.)

Total of it all is... 249,723.2. Wow. Of course, all I have to compare it to is the wizard...

And add 36,000 for the perpiat of wisdom +6, 13,000 for the monk's belt... For a total of nearly 300,000. So... I'm 280,000 gold short of what 19th level characters start off with. Shiney gold...

Wealth vs. Money.....

Making a magic item costs one half the item's market price in materials (gold pieces) and 1/25th the market price in XP. You can generally sell items for half their market value. So, you make a +6 Cloak of Charisma, spend 18,000 gp and 1,440 xp, then sell the market value 36,000 gp cloak for 18,000 gp.... a net loss of 1,440 xp, 0 gp, and 36 days of your time. You don't make a profit in that manner (castings of Wish, on the other hand, can net the caster quite a lot, at a hefty XP cost).

A character that Crafts magic goods, however, has a higher wealth rating than the character might otherwise have. That 10,000 gp of junk nets you 5,000 gp. You could spend that 5,000 gp on a +2 Bracers of armor and a +1 cloak of resistance, or you could craft that 5,000 gp (and 400 xp) into +2 Bracers of Armor (4,000 gp market) and a +2 Cloak of Resistance (4,000 gp market) and have enough left over for a +1 Ring of Protection (2,000 gp market). 10,000 gp of junk and 400 xp = 10,000 gp of crafted useful items of the crafter's selection, or 10,000 gp of junk = 5,000 gp of purchased useful items of the purchaser's selection. Of course, Crafting costs XP, which slows level advancement a might....

As did the cleric. He had roughly half as many 1's as did the party, and the party rolled roughly twice as many dice.

Also, another reason why the words are very very annoying.
Evil Domain + Prayer Beads + Divine Spell Power + Domain Focus: Evil + 5 levels of hierophant + ioun stone = +16 to caster level.

Thus, anything with 6 more hitdie than the caster dies. With no save. But spell resistance, so spell resistance does reply.

But, there's still the point of a level 20 cleric/heirophant being able to kill any PC of at least lower than 27. Even more if you're like Jason and have a level adjustment, then it becomes even MORE dangerous... and that's discounting the fact that being paralyzed is an instant death as well considering the coup de grace.

Uh. The cleric? That, I thought, was a quest...

Hmmm. Somewhere in epic levels(if we go there), maybe we'll have to fight one of those big golem thingies that sneaked the ritual past us...

Mainly I was hoping that that death would break my record of never dying on the main quest, just the side quests. For some reason, I keep dying on the side quests.

And I was talking about the Talisman of Pure Good. Instant kill against an evil divine spellcaster, no save if it's for an action exceptionally pure in thought and deed.

And there's also a few loose threads from earlier quests. Which I helped to close a little last session.

One exhausted cleric made to run... of course, he was already leaving, so you didn't exactly accomplish any goals in relation to him, and his goals weren't exactly foiled, to an unknown fate; Eldon stuck in a boring room, four CR 13 Iron Golems defeated; one officially CR 8 trap disabled... after driving the Rogue insane. Twice.

And, cutting Eldon in for a slice of the XP....
