How did you do that? I had tried exactly that before only to receive the same error: it could only be installed on the first partition. Do you need to pass an argument to the installer? (Never tried that route) I think my 98 disk is borked ... (Sorry for interrupting your thread, I'm curious now http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/cool.gif) |
Re: OT: Installing a second OS
Nope, just told it to install 98 to the D drive
No problem. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Unfortunatly, I'm using a backup copy of our 98 cd and it doesn't seem to have a dos folder on it. Nor can I find the original. It is 'somewhere'. |

It also writes this to a CW.ERR It might help:

Re: OT: Installing a second OS
*GRRRR*
Even with a MS-Dos boot-disk (Created with the XP format command), it still comes up with the same error. Is it possible I simply have to much memory? |
Re: OT: Installing a second OS
mmm.... what's Daggerfall a game? all those thing like
"EAX=83533000 EBX=FFFFFB86 ECX=00000000 EDX=83532CDD ESI=83532B8C EDI=83444BB4 EBP=83532D88 ESP=83532B80 EIP=83425B92 EFL=00010282 CS=018F-7CBE3000 DS=019F-7CBE3000 ES=019F-7CBE3000 FS=0000-xxxxxxxx GS=01A7-xxxxxxxx SS=019F-7CBE3000" is assembler, i know a bit, but not enough to guess what all that stuff is...., it maybe (but i'm guessing), a problem with drivers, maybe video/sound card, you could try booting with a win98 boot disk and create manually another boot disk without any of win98 bootdisk stuff, just a "format a: /s" (where a: is you floppy drive) ofcourse you won't be able to use cdroms you'll have configure that yourself or copy the entire cd to the HDD http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif |
Re: OT: Installing a second OS
I can tell you what those are... those are the registers on the processor. It looks like the program dumps out the registers when it crashes... but mostly useless to me. Those hex numbers are what was in the processor's registers.
|
Re: OT: Installing a second OS
yes, but i guess only tech support will understand what they mean..... with some luck....
|
Re: OT: Installing a second OS
Good luck on getting meaningful support for Daggerfall... its many years old. And even then, those numbers are just about useless. Even a developer, without knowledge of what exactly caused the problem, couldn't figure it out.
|
Re: OT: Installing a second OS
i don't even know what daggerfall is..... i game i guess...., but yes you're right
