I believe it originated as a SNES game. Or maybe it was ported there... who knows.

I know http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
You can download it right here in the good old DOS version (fits on a floppy), but it's actually a SNES console game. Very interesting, puzzling game that one, I almost finished it, but the last level is an absolute nightmare back in that alien ship http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/stupid.gif

Btw, back on topics, I have a 17" Viewsonic LCD since january and I would never trade it back for a CRT http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
Some lower-quality video might seem more pixelized, because it's so much sharper. It was a godsend when I was designing microelectronics, 1 pixel wide lines are a nightmare on a CRT...

Well, after seven years of dedicated service, my Compaq monitor finally bit the big one, refusing to power up, etc., etc. So, I just ordered a Samsung to replace the old soldier. This means a viking funeral for both computer and screen now... Guess I am making a trip to the coast this weekend.

Almost as good as what mine did. I was in the middle of a game of SEIV, enjoying myself, when my computer when "verrer" like I'd turned it on, with the screen wavering. This got my attention just in time for a great big "snap!" to black out the screen and send a GREAT BIG cloud of black smoke coming up out of the back.

My mother got my a flatscreen as a gift shortly thereafter, and I LOVE it. Now, if only she'd gotten my a CDR for backuping files, since I lost, well, everything a few days ago when my OS went (harddrive's ok, but my OS was utterly gone for some insane reason, ergo I couldn't save anything to a thumbdrive).

Why didn't you leave the files alone, and boot from a CD, or reinstall your OS to a different partition or drive?

My old CRT was doing something similar.
Except it never popped. Instead, about twice a week, it would go wiggly, and lose another bit of width.
I had it on my desk until it was down to half the normal width, and getting unreadable, but by then there was a new monitor lined up. This LCD is great.

Um... You know you can correct that? Simply adjust the CRT's settings, and it will be back to full width. And degaussing would help, too.

I'm not stupid NA.
The width setting was naturally already at MAX, but the capacitor which deals with that aspect of the system was leaking or slowly burning, or something deadly.

Actually, now that I've thought about it, I guess it did eventually explode a day or two after the screen was down to half-width and thusly super-bright.
I do remember finding half a capacitor sitting on the circuit board when we cracked 'er open later. And a split/peeled top half fell out.

Ah, that makes sense. I've never had a CRT screen burn out on me, however. They seem solid enough to last years.

Not an infitite number of years... It is a universal law that all hardware will fail.
