Re: Acronym Dictionary

The purpose of my offer to put it in a spread sheet was for exactly what you did. A tab delimited file is a text file that most Word Processors, Spread Sheet, and Database programs can import. A separate file would be good to have for people who are reading a thread, run into a Acronym and need to bring up the list. I read the forums with a database open designed to take notes on various aspects of the game.

Most likely it is over kill.

Perhaps the Newbie Guide, Acronym
List and others should be merged into the "Encyclopedia Malfadorica”

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Gryphin, sounds like a good idea. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

How would it work in practice?

You also say:

Don't know if you want to use this one but... OT: Off Topic

Re: Acronym Dictionary

"SEX = The highly anticipated Tenth game in the Space Empires Series."

I can see this one. Someone will make a site dedicated to this tenth Version of SE and have a .org domain name. Thus it would be, "www.SE-X.org"... some idiot would then add a Y to the end of that just for kicks.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">You have to start a new thread.</font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">OK maybe we can put a link to the Poll. Anybody know how to do this?

The form of the poll I am considering is:

POLL
===============================
What form should the acronym dictionary take?

1) the form it now has

2) include only the most commonly used acronyms - delete acronyms not in common use such as MM's "TL = Large Troops, Hull"
================================
Any discussion on this?

Two ways to have the page open while reading the forums
1) copy and paste the data into a program you have
2) Click on a link to the page from inside the forum

The tab delimeted text file allows someone to import it to many different programs.

I don't know if anyone else uses this, but I usually refer to a Gas Giant as a GG. The G's were looking a little empty.

and of course B5 would be Babylon 5 as in the B5Mod (blatant plug) http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Re: Acronym Dictionary

Why not just set up a Wikipedia for SE/MM related stuff? That would get us our Encyclopaedia Malfadorica. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Hi Val

If it is a bona fide mod and there is an acronym for it, we can include it in the fun stuff.
Just give it in the format we use like:

FQM = Fyron's Quadrant Mod

Edit: Is GG an acronym? Like something in everyday use?
