I have posted before. I think. (Smell of a brain burning up)

I am 23 in College as History/Poitical Science major/minor with furhter interests in English and Economics. I have been in college for about 6 years now... just one more semester... just one more...

Raised in an army family at places all over the world currently in Texas (don't judge me by our national representative please!)

Played games all the time with some first memories of old Atari/computer games though I have no idea what Atari/computer systems or what the games were. Later did RPG and strategy board game type things then computer games first with SE2 and Stars! and MOO and others then MOO2 SE3 and others and now SE4 waiting for MOO3 and Stars! Supernova Genesis.

Ya'll have fun.

46 next month. Gold Edition is little present to myself. First gaming system? Well, PONG of course. 1st actual system, I guess that would have to be a TI 99/a. The first night I brought that puppy home I sat up until 4am figuring out how to program a little stick figure guy the jumped up and down and waved his arms. It had some very good cartridge style games as well as some tapes. Couldn't afford a floppy.

Never played SEI, II or III. Preordered SEIV and have been playing it ever since. Where's my Gold!!!!! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif

Carbon dating has been inconlusive in my case:

I've had to resort to the less-than-accurate method of remembering my name, and then finding the correct driver's license laying around the house.

Re: OT: How old are you ?

I'm 40, which means I have half an entire lifetime left to waste on 4x games!

Ten years ago a "friend" turned me on to Civilization (the original game for PC) and, having never more than dabbled in various games only to drop them out of boredom, was instantly hooked.

Thus the brilliant career of a budding C++ programmer was, well, nipped in the bud, with all spare time spent with most of the major 4x-type games since then. Didn't play SE until SE4 came out, and it was the only game receiving constant attention until SE4 Gold arrived, which is even better... it's hopeless...

Greetings

I am 36 yrs of age. Been playing games for so long I cant even remember. My first computer was a TRS80 from IBM. ANyone remember those? My very first game on the system that got me hooked on computer games was an old game called Midway. Was a bLast. Im into all types of strategy games. I love the MOO series. Have them all. Star Control series was another good one that I love. And of course, who could forget Sid Meyers and his CIV series. Have them all still on my comp. By far though, I love SE4. I enjoy the modding that is allowed with the game. I am a divorced male. Wife couldnt understand why I found the games more enjoyable than her. (want a hint). The games didnt talk :-)

Anyway, I look forward to even more game time with SE4.

Grayhorse - Do you remember Starflight I & II?
I loved those games, so much freedom... Run around, upgrade your ship, trade with aliens, explore for worlds, etc... that open-endedness was great.

Yep, I remember that game fondly as well. Still my favorite from the golden years is Midway. Geo said he found it and is working on getting it to work with current basic. I hope he gets it to work as I use to love playing that game for hours. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

This is the colorized, and "Temporally Stabilized" Version that I fixed up. The game is exactly the same as normal, except for added delays, which will give people using today's computers a chance to read the text Messages.

37 old (ouch!), playing wargames and RPG since 22 years (yeah !), and playing with computer games since 16... with an Apple IIe, great machine ! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
I had a very cool game of space combat where you designed your ships, can't recall the name ...
I acquired my first PC box just to play Civ when it came out, but first 4x I played was MOO1 however, not that old !

My first computer was a Tandy TRS80 model II.

Best game on it was a carthaginian wars game called Hannibal

I'm 33, been gaming since around 1980, mostly boardgames. First wargame was Avalon Hill's "Battle of the Bulge", played Star Fleet Battles, Starfire series, a host of RPG games & WWII boardgames over the years. Kinda new to pc games, been playing SE series since 99/00. Just "went Gold", looking forward to experimenting with the new Version.

25, playing computer games since ... some sort of Nam-chopper-rescue-game on the AppleII-something. Got into wargames just after I recovered from the scourge of Magic: The Gathering (in '94 or '95, I guess).

My _Father_ played Starflight! I picked up a copy (of I nad II), but my (incurable) habit of hex-editing the save for any game with more than two stats and a story line made short work of both, and probably 'ruined' them for me.

Am 54, been a wargamer since way back. Started with AH's Gettysburg, during the JFK administration. Am a long time divorced person, with 2 kids. Am now living alone.. except for my 3 dogs. I am a security supervisor in a scientific facility in west Omaha. I live in a small town to the south. I love the country & hope to get an acreage someday.

Have played many of the board games & the computer games mentioned here by others. I have hundreds of both around the house, in various places. Just started on SEIV Gold ... glad that I ran across it.

Waiting for MOO3... hoping for MOM. Have played quite a bit vs. humans.. but the coordination for H2H, much less MP seems to be hard for me nowdays. Too many things...too little time.

Nice forum...nice people. I do find scrolling from the bottom a little odd. Will have some newbie questions shortly.

Time to mow the lawn. Busy day .. tmw.

45 - First computer was a Tandy custom built 8088. Spent $2700.00 one that one, my how times have changed. Got Might & Magic I and became forever hooked. Played Star Trek 25th Anniversry (I think), it was kinda cool romping about the galaxy, transporting people to and from various planets. My interest in gaming only grew, and with it a better and better understanding of the computer itself. Eventually switched careers to a PC Tech and now a Network Admin. Having fun can pay off.

I'm 45, been playing computer wargames since, uh some training sim in CIC on my ship (USS Coontz, DDG-40, since scrapped http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif ) in the late 70's. Actual board wargames since before then, but I can't remember how long.

I'm 38, Swiss, and got hooked on strategy games when I bought my first computer, an Atari ST, about 15 years ago. I cannot spend a single day without devoting a few hours to gaming. My mother used to tell me I would grow out of playing games and listening to heavy metal music, but she was wrong: just got "worse" http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

I'm 54, American, and live in the Pacific Northwest. My first wargame was AH's D-Day and I love military history and sci-fi. Was a Marine in Vietnam in '69 and '70 and have been in law enforcement for some 30 years. Have an extensive collection of board games, miniatures and computer games (going back to my Atari 800, ColecoVision and even an original Pong game machine?!). Looking forward to SEIV Gold having just begun Weber's "The Shiva Option".

Re: OT: How old are you ?

Lord Kodos, The members on the forum don't discriminate by age or by anything else, we go by how one acts and behaves on the forum, that's what dictates as to how everyone either accepts you or not. Its up to you and how you present yourself... Its one's own choice... You won't find any flaming, flame wars, discrimination or otherwise on this forum compared to others. One time we had one person way back that tried to stir up some trouble here on the forum but he was removed and rightly so by the admin and by the outcry of the Forum's members. That type of action is not acceptable here.

In fact, if I remember correctly way back, I thought I even saw some members that are younger then you here, so enjoy yourself...
