Wednesday, time to host again.

Re: calling all players

I think it is time for us to share passwords so that someone can run your turn if you are not playing it in time.

Cainehill November 23rd, 2005 02:56 PM

Re: calling all players

*mutter* Yeah. For crying out loud, it's only turn _12_ - how hard is it to find the time to take a turn???

(That said, Thursday is one of the biggest family holidays of the year in the USA, some players might be on the road or something. Although you'd think they might have said so.)

Folket November 24th, 2005 05:10 AM

Re: calling all players

If you do not state a reason here why your turn will not be in in time we should allways go ahead and generate.

Re: calling all players

Server was down AGAIN. I have no idea what is happening here. Maybe just small electricity blackouts?

Any way, now I have changed it so that every time that spesific computer reboots, it will restart DomII. It works by starting a .bat (command line commands in a text file) in the beginning, the .bat starts a .lnk (windows shortcut), which has the parameters with which Dominions II starts with SMEG (with quickhost etc settings). It's ugly, but it works, and there should be no more downtime due to whatever has been happening in here.

Re: calling all players

But where is Reverant Zombie, when I played with him in an other game he was stable and played two turns a day.

Endoperez November 25th, 2005 12:22 PM

Re: calling all players

I have no idea, and I e-mailed him a while ago. I could force host it, but I feel bad about it so I'll wait till tomorrow morning unless you want otherwise. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Re: calling all players

I think that we should force host. One we begin hosting on regular schedule people will get the rutine to check this game.

Re: calling all players

Force hosted. I woke up a little while ago, and hosted the game pretty soon after that. I'm not sure how near "next morning" this seems to be for you guys...

Folket November 27th, 2005 03:49 PM

Re: calling all players

Seems like Reverent Zombie is a problem that we will have to discuss.

I think you meant "discuss".

Very likly. Is there anyone having the password for his dominion?

shovah November 27th, 2005 06:18 PM

Re: calling all players

i dont think so but i guess he should give it to someone

Folket November 28th, 2005 10:31 AM

Re: calling all players

=(, yep if we see him again. What are we to do if he does not return?

Endoperez November 28th, 2005 11:31 AM

Re: calling all players

I don't think the game will work if we have to take second replacement in before turn 15... Especially as the game is supposed to be a team game.

I will still host and play if we somehow get a replacement and all of you want to continue, of course. I'll still e-mail Reverend Zombie, though, let's wait till we get a word from him.

Cainehill November 29th, 2005 05:17 PM

Re: calling all players

Still nothing from Zombie, eh? Sheesh.

Reverend Zombie November 29th, 2005 11:08 PM

Back. Was away for T'giving. Thought I might have internet access while gone, but did not.

Sorry!!!

Whew! It's good that the game is still going. I was losing my hope! A new turn is up, in case you hadn't noticed.

Turn 15 up.

Cainehill December 2nd, 2005 08:09 PM

Re: calling all players

And of course, my two team mates look like the ones who aren't going to have their turns in.

Okay - turns are supposed to run Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Is that _morning_ on these days, midnight, what?

Re: calling all players

But Ulm still couldn't be bothered. Feh. I say the game should be killed if it isn't going to run when scheduled.

Folket December 4th, 2005 06:02 AM

Re: calling all players

Cainehill is right. We need to get the game flowing otherwise everyone will loose intrest and we will never be able to play it.

Cainehill December 5th, 2005 12:39 PM

Re: calling all players

Didn't run Friday, didn't run on the weekend, no signs that Ulm is going to take his turn, I'm considering it dead.

Endoperez December 5th, 2005 02:08 PM

Re: calling all players

It seems that one participant or other goes missing every week... It's a pity, as it was getting interesting too. I conquered an indep. province adjacent to Ulm's area last turn. However, it seems like the game just isn't working.

Unless Ulm's turn comes in, AND the schedule starts working, I'll quit the game. Also, if someone else besides Cainehill wants to quit, I'll kill the game.

shovah December 5th, 2005 02:42 PM

Re: calling all players

sry guys, was at a friends house all weekend and couldnt get in touch before leaving and just to add to it his net wasnt working the whole time i was there

Cainehill December 5th, 2005 03:33 PM

Re: calling all players

Could've taken your turn Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday.

Again - I'd like a clarification on when the turns are supposed to run : at midnight on the designated days, the morning, the next morning, what?

shovah December 5th, 2005 04:06 PM

Re: calling all players

i think we should just take them asap but say they HAVE to be in by monday, wednesday and friday, and btw guys the new turn is up

Re: calling all players

Okay, what about this: the turns should be in on Mon/Wed/Fri. Because of time zone differences, I'll wait until around 06.00 GMT +2 before I host the turn. I'll change the game setup so that the program does it automatically. Unless someone says he's going to be away, the program will host the game.

It might've been better to do this from the beginning.

Endoperez December 5th, 2005 06:43 PM

Re: calling all players

Just realized that the last hosting was today, so the next hosting won't be before wednesday (or thursday, really).

Folket December 6th, 2005 11:12 AM

Re: calling all players

Let us start with force hosting wednesday morning, let us force this game into play. I think both teams should share passwords among them self or send to a leader so that they can help out when people suddenly starts to stale turns, which seems to happens all the time.

Thursday morning, but it'll force host. For some people, Thursday morning might still be late Wednesday...

Not a bad idea.

Re: calling all players

Seems like new turn is up anyway. But I thoughtyou said that turns should be in by wednesday and we host wednesday morning.

Endoperez December 7th, 2005 11:52 AM

Re: calling all players

Quickhost is still on. That means that if all players have submitted their turns, the game will automatically host. However, as you can see from the "hours left" timer, the game automatically knows not to host on Wednesday.

EDIT: Initially I thought that you had wondered why the turn was ready earlier than it should, but now I started to wonder if the game hosted too early, with you missing a turn. So, did the turn host before someone played his turn? This is my first time using the automated hosting like this, so mistakes can happen... And I'd want this to be clear before the next turn hosts. Two stale turns in a row wouldn't be fun.

EDIT2: And sorry for the typos. It seems I slept too little, and write stupid mistakes.

CuriousCat December 7th, 2005 03:04 PM

Re: calling all players

I was the last person to play my turn. It then hosted and I played my next turn to make sure that I wouldn't miss. I meant to post a note informing everyone that the new turn was up... but it was late and I was sleepy... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: calling all players

if anyone other than the players read this i would like to give an update: ive just been hit by jotunheims pretender and some mercs, next turn his pretender left and i repelled the mercs with some PD, now his pretender has returned with around 50 giants (and he will probably be doing quickness + falling frost again) and is about to own me, farewell

So it seems, and yet ANOTHER turn is up! It seems the game really speeded up with the hour-clock... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/redface.gif I should have put it up MUCH earlier. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Shovah, I'd be happy to help you design a better build for the next time. I don't think Ulm without Production can work, especially with a pretender that hasw too low hitpoints to conquer provinces without soldiers' support.

Re: calling all players

congrats on the win, ALL of my units are dead (frost is ok v crushers) my capital is undefended and besieged and im left with a poor, low resource province with no lab, no temple, and a poor large supply fort just waiting for your hungry giants (0 admin, low defence and 1000 supply)

Just check in for the next turn. I hosted it. I had done the turn when I had had those connection problems, but because of them, I hadn't uploaded it on time...

Season's (Lord Winter's, to be exact http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif ) Greetings to you all...

Turn 22 up.

Re: calling all players

Ouch! Even with a sucking Chest Wound (from the seeking arrow I cleverly slung his way http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif ), Sudenhuuto was brutal. 80% of my army, and most of my field commanders just perished - C'tis, it's up to you now.

Endoperez December 12th, 2005 01:20 AM

Re: calling all players

It's not that bad, surely. You got my 121% Heroic Quickness, Water-9 blessed Prophet before I could give him any equipment! I had scripted him very strangely, because he advanced on his own in the beginning, with half his normal hits, but still... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/eek.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Besides, in the whole Giant army there are about two healthy Jotuns. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif I had supply problems versus Ulm, and it shows. Changing tactics could work much better - surely you've noticed that there is just single, though very heavily defended, independent province between our lands... With the Tuatha theme, you could have just sneaked past! THAT would've been brutal.
And that Seeking Arrow really found its target. It's lucky I had had my prophet and pretender there, and had built a temple nearby, because even mighty Sudenhuuto was down to under 30 hits in high Ulmish dominion... And in the warmth, his protection was merely 9. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/eek.gif You know, just the information about that could have killed my pretender - few Seeking Arrows are unexpected when you're battling Ulm. It's information war in Dominions, as well!
I can't attack you with my weakened army and pretender, so you better come up with more tricks! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif However - in the memory of lighning-fast Jotun Scout who never got to really fight... The snow shall be red, the Tower shall crumble, and the Forest shall wither into Iron Woods, where the Great Witch eternally tortures the souls of Men, and their otherworly Masters!
(the cost of Misfortune - not a chance of getting Angerboda).

Cainehill December 13th, 2005 04:48 PM

Re: calling all players

Didn't need healthy giants - I only killed what - 1 of your sickly ones?

For once the AI did intelligent spell targetting, and of course your Sudenhuuto was the one it did it for. Having all those Falling Frosts nailing my archers and sacred troops from the get go, instead of it clearing out the (fairly sizeable) mass of chaff I had up front, really ruined my day.

And your pretender had over 90 HPs in that battle, not that it mattered.

New Turn.
