I'll give you sad-faces another hint. This would look the same in all three eras of Pangaea.

While I liked Carrion Woods being its own nation very much, it's -very- nice to see that now you basically have -three- Pangaean nations that can go a CW route if they so choose. I'm assuming then that the Carrion Dragon is still around to boot. Excellent. Even what I thought might be a misstep turns out to be a pleasant surprise. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Nope. Haven't seen any. Actually, I haven't even researched up to Constr. 8 in Dom3. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif

http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/thr...44934-temp.jpg

Also, costs have been updated. Level 3 item costs only 15 gems, level 5 items only 40 gems, etc. I couldn't test how much level 4 items cost nowadays because I didn't find any. The reason I didn't find any is that some items have been updated. Rings of Sorcery and Treelords' Staves are level 5 items now.

From what's being said about the restriction on random paths, you'll probably need the Carrion Dragon, or at least Nature and Death on your pretender to pull it off.

Lamia Queens might be another option if they haven't changed.

How do the Carrion Lord and Lady (and the Centaur?) work with the new lack of unholy? Can they still reanimate?

MA and LA Ermor priests reanimate just fine. There could always be a bug in there (Mound Fiend didn't work properly for a long, long time. Lots of different issues, mostly typoes AFAIK), but they should reanimate just fine.

Oh, and Lamia Queens? NNNNNDD isn't easy to get. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/stupid.gif

So, next one will be a commander, probably a mage but might be another special commander as well. Any ideas? One of the Warrior Smiths of EA Ulm, or something else? Sauromatian or Sauromancer; Ermorian Arch Bishop or Grand Thaumaturg, or perhaps something else entirely. I'll try to pick something interesting, so LA R'lyeh is out. I'll post one of their raving, boring madmen in a minute.

The simplest way. Conquerors of the Sea mages were toned down, though. Chartmaker only has 100?AS random, as an example.

Seems not. So, here you get a Grand Thaumaturg. They are good mages, good priests, and good reanimators. Remember that Holy 3 is equivalent to Dom2 Holy 4. Yes, they can cast both Smite and Apostacy!

Hey, you got one Ermor commander already! So, what about another undead commander? Hmm, or perhaps another Early Ermorian mage.

Any way, as shown in the Jomon thread, Oni are big and tough.

Also, Oni are hard to kill:

http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/thr...45105-temp.jpg

You'll see the basics from this pic, but there are various little things that I slightly affect various stats in here. He survived his first battle, but as the second one was against Lizards, they did him in. He still got Heroic Quickness from his first win, and some experience, and then got cursed and netted some afflictions in the lizard fight.

These are the biggest Oni, but even the smaller ones have second forms.

No Carrion Woods? Now I'm glad I didn't pre-order - making CW a global (taking a global spot, capable of being dispelled/over-ridden, requiring massive research and gems) instead of a nation of a darker shade of green just sucks. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

You won't like this, then. There is no Soul Gate as its own nation. It's also initiated with a great ritual. Ashen Empire has to research Conjuration to become Soul Gate. There all kinds of nifty goodies in here, like spells for summoning multiple Wailing Ladies or Lictors at once.

I think you will be pretty happy with late Pangaea, they have most the flavor of CW (black dryads- now with death magic, panic apostates, black centuars), and can get almost as many vine creatures if you spend your gems on reanimators. And you can eventually still go full-death mode.

If I understood it correctly, it doesn't override anything. Of course, when you get to Conjuration 8, you've probably ran out of bodies... but if you can advance to previously "safe" territory thanks to the addition of the spectral armies, you would get the normal zombies too.

Re: Screenies!

Err... I don't remember troop production ever stopping for me when playing AE. Last I checked, longdead don't need fresh corpses to come popping out of the ground, which can easily lead to four-figure armies if the game is long enough and Ermor is left to its own devices. Unless something's been changed, I expect it'd be a tad overpowering with the addition of the Soul Gate effect. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/shock.gif

All the summoning spells changed into level 0, the globals made cheap enough to be cast on the first turn. The globals could still be dispelled, given enough time, so the nations would also have to hoard as much gems as possible.

He's also old, more powerful priest and reanimator, can preach etc etc. He mightn't look that different, but the changes on him alone are pretty big. If you want to test what Grand Thaumaturg's will be like in Dom 3, the easiest way is to mod them to have Holy 4 and Unholy 4, and not reanimate the best creature they could.

http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/thr...45146-temp.jpg

EA Ermor has Arch Bishops (of Eldregate), but there aren't any mages that would directly transfer into later, undead mages. Augur Elders are their most powerful, and oldest, mages. At 60/48 years old, most will probably get an affliction or two in a few years (few dozen turns), despite their skill in Death. I haven't actually tested it, though. Catching a disease is, of course, much more rare.

You did see a Niefel shapeshifter. But if Niefel aren't giants enough, I'll have to show you a Jotun Skinshifter. The yellow hp on the other form are the hp he would have if he he wasn't hurt. Wolf form has base hp of 48. There are no new hp colors for various status effects. Don't misinterpret that picture, okay?

Most recruitable units of LA R'lyeh are the same as in MA R'lyeh, and there have been few minor changes but nothing that you'd fine interesting if you don't like the improved Grand Thaumaturg. So... here's a very simple R'lyeh Dreamlands priest. These are the ones that'll pop up here and there and everywhere. This Shubbaruth guy appeared on turn 4, along with 8 mad mermen, of the unittype Mad Merman. The turn before I got 4 Lesser Othernesses. I replaced his unit pic with his icon from the main view. Why do these things always happen when you play, but never when you're supposed to take a screenshot of it?

It seems not. Lots of slight chances, but if complete overhaul of Ashen Empire/Soul Gate isn't enough, I don't know what is.

I hope not. Cthulhu would probably be one of the new Doom Horrors, and they are nasty stuff. R'lyeh has Astral mages, so they can easily Horror Mark all their enemies. The new Astral Geyser spell makes it easy to cause severe horror marks quickly, and if and when the horrors come and feed, someone dies. If the horror-mark happens to hit someone who is heroic, a god, or remarkable for some other reason, stranger horrors might appear.

He's not in the same category in the deadliness, but Visitor is almost as strange a being. He's LA R'lyeh hero, or so I think from his description. I haven't actually seen him appear.

EDIT: Also, LA Man is called Chelms.

I'd bettter give you time to look at all the goodies, then. I'll give you one more national summon, but this time, I don't think it's going to be a weak one.

C'tis can summon Devourer of Souls, the crocodile-headed being that eats the souls of sinners. Conj 9 national spell, D6, 30 gems. I'll give you a hint: it's big. I think it's a unique summon; it isn't mentioned, but it very much looks and feels like a unique being.
C'tis and few other nations can summon Scorpion Men. Conj 8, EF, 12 gems. "The Scorpion Man is the most frightening beast that wanders in the desert. It is said that when a Scorpion Man looks at a mountain, the mountain shivers in fear."

Choose one.
