Re: New Game PBEM
I wont be able to play tomorrow. can next turn´s host be delayed?
|
Re: New Game PBEM
I will set it to only autohost when I get home.
|
Re: New Game PBEM
I don't think an autohost will work well with how many people have left the game, unless they are set to AI.
Maybe moving to 48 hour host would be a better solution and let people have enough time to fit in their turns. And we should probably figure out the nations that need to be set to AI. |
Re: New Game PBEM
You can tell from timestamps - anyone with a timestamp older than the *previous* host, staled.
My vote would be to set anyone who staled this turn to computer control. |
Re: New Game PBEM
Unless I hear otherwise i will be setting ermor, ulm ctis and caelum to AI.
They all seem to have heavily staled. |
Re: New Game PBEM
Whoops. I kept trying to connect, to no avail. I don't know why I didn't check the forums. Ah well, you can AI me.
|
Re: New Game PBEM
I'm sure you could get back into it if you want to, Uninspired. Staling a few turns is a setback, but it might well be recoverable.
|
Re: New Game PBEM
If everyone is open to idea I could control Ermor, Ulm, Ctis and Caelum as moneky puppets of Kailisa. I promose they would act in our best interest exclusively.
|
Re: New Game PBEM
I don't really understand why we've set the autohost to 48 hours. Everyone's being fairly quick about their turns except the people who've stopped playing aren't they? Seems like setting it to 48 hours will just slow it down loads.
|
Re: New Game PBEM
Yeah. Back to 24 h host please. The stalers will stale no matter what the deadline is.
|
Re: New Game PBEM
Manuk had requested that we wait a day so he could get his turn in. My suggestions of 48 hours was only to prevent us from having to make changes to the game for such request (or ignoring them).
Once the stalling players are set to AI (probably anyone who has missed the last 2-3 turns without comment) then the game will move at a quicker pace. Hell... I'd take 2-3 turns a day if I could. |
Re: New Game PBEM
Yep, 24, lets keep to the plan, man! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
|
Re: New Game PBEM
It is set to 48 until Manuk takes his turn. Once I get home I will AI the 4 repeat stalers and set it back to 24.
|
Re: New Game PBEM
Can you provide a list of all of the players set to AI? Or is there a way to tell from the game. I used to think it would tell you as you hovered over the flag in the game entry page.
|
Re: New Game PBEM
Ermor, Ulm, Ctis and Caelum are AI
|
Re: New Game PBEM

Re: New Game PBEM

Kailasa, we have PM'ed you, T'ien Ch'i.

Re: Our bid
When first the peoples of Sauromatia were encountered, a chance encounter led to hostilities. They seemed a hardy folk, however, so it was decided to extend our hand in friendship. Their response, citing manifest destiny, regretfully informed us that the lands under our banner need be seized for the great plans of He Bi Kami as a massive group of archers descended on us lead by a monstrous great wyrm. Our mighty jaguar warriors were completely unprepared for the swarms of poisoned arrows, so under the tactical genius of our great prophet Tlahuixcalp, our forces melted into the jungles ahead of the force of cannibals, never engaging the great host, but never letting them keep possession of our lands for long. Stalling for time, as an alternative was developed to deal with the overwhelming archers.
Growing tired of the game of cat and mouse, the great wrym He Bi Kami learned the location of the Mictlan holy ziggurat and marched directly to our very capital. Sieging the citadel there, he obviously hoped to end our guerilla tactics by cutting off the head of our nation and assaulting the bloody god directly. As he was soon to find, however, the tricky part about jumping on a jaguar’s back is getting off. The large groups of archers had been reinforced with a seething mass of noxious hydras, and heavy pikineer mercenaries guarded their formation to give them time to lay waste to our forces. Tlahuixcalp chose not to play that role, and issued orders to slay the mighty host to a man. Leaving masses of slaves and foulspawn as arrow catchers in the front, the might of the Mictlan nation formed up in the rear. The Sauromatian archers must have grinned seeing the amount of wide open ground separating our armies, envisioning that the great range of their composite bows would give them ample opportunities to pepper us with death before we could engage them. Imagine their shock as the divine blessing of the bloody god was invoked, and several score of eagle warriors took to the air. Imagine their dismay as a dozen demonic beast bats joined the dive into their ranks. Imagine their horror as a large cabal of Mictlan priests tore the very fabric of the underworld and an uncountable mass of imps boiled forth to surround the army who was armed mostly with now useless bows. The tragedy of military discipline is such that even the archers which were not beset by our mass of flying troops continued to fire into our archers until they to had their turn to hold the attention of our holy slayers. The majority of our losses came with the unfortunately unavoidable chasing of the routing hydras. Fortunately, as we had re-conquered all the surrounding territories, even those few who managed to escape (including the delusional wyrm who styles himself a god) must surely have died in the countryside. |
Re: Our bid
I wish this game could have a battle recorder.
|
Yomi stalling..
Yes, it would be awesome to have a library of great battles people could look at.
If Yomi doesn't get his turn in today it will be his third stall in a row (I'm pretty sure at least). I think I am cursing the players near me. C'tis, Ulm and Yomi all share my borders. Watch out Pangea... or soon you will no longer want to play in the game. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |
Re: Yomi stalling..
We are having too many loses. This may imbalance the game. I already have 1 neighbor AI and handicaped through stalling.
|
Re: Yomi stalling..
Yomi attacked agartha a few turns ago. Then nothing...perhaps he got defeated and give up?
Most MP's come down to 1/2 a dozen or so powerful nations sooner or later, so dropouts are no big problem, indeed fights over there lands can result in massive wars breaking out. If Yomi has given up, he should have turned his nation AI thou, the AI does'nt do too bad a job, Ermor has defeated Oceania once or twice and the AI never gets bored. By the way, the T'ien Ch'i spy network is excellent. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif I know every move my neighbours and in some cases there neighbours make... |
Re: Yomi stalling..
oh.. so that was your scout peeking about.
that means you have more nearby. You will need no battle recorder then. |

T'ien Ch'i would like to trade gems, strictly on a 1 for 1 basis.

Re: Anyone want to gem trade?

Re: New Game Early Era - Glory of The Gods - Started
Please make sure you give at least 12 hours notice if you need an extension.
I just received a pm from manuk for an extension on someone's behalf. However this pm was sent at 2pm my time which was a few hours after the turn processed, and also was a time during which I was at work so could not do anything about it anyway. I am on GMT -8 and work a full time job. Currently the turns host automatically when everyone played or at 10 am PST (which is 6pm GMT). |
Re: New Game Early Era - Glory of The Gods - Started
That was me, sorry, this was emergency about my internet connection. It's fine now.

Increasing the turnaround time?
This game has moved very fast and I like the 24hr quickhost for the first 20 - 30 turns. However when you enter the midgame, have a large empire, access to alot of spells etc...24hr quickhost is too, well, quick...it gets very tiresome having to do a turn every day no matter what.
So how would everyone feel if I asked Strages Sanctus/Manuk to move to a 48hr quickhost from turn 31? I believe a 48hr quickhost would result in a better endgame with no complaints from anyone over lack of time, rushed turns etc... Who would be in favour? Who would be against? |
Re: Increasing the turnaround time?
I'm ambivalent. I like the 24 hour turns, but certainly have no objection to moving to 48 if that makes for a better experience for several people.
|
Re: Increasing the turnaround time?
I'm in several games and would be happy to move to a 48 hr quickhost. We could compromise on 36 hrs? That way, unless you're last, you can generally skip a day if you have to.
|
Re: Increasing the turnaround time?
I think extending the deadline is a good idea at some point, but currently I find 24h to be enough for this game.
If people need more time that's fine. |
Re: Increasing the turnaround time?
I can go either way.
|
Re: Increasing the turnaround time?
24 hours is fine for me right now. I think the first person to declare they need more time should trigger the increase in host time, not some arbitrary turn. But please don't be afraid to ask for a host increase time!
Apparently in another game there was a person whose empire got really big and I guess was too embarrased to ask for a host time increase and couldn't do his turns on time. But he never piped up about it so everyone assumed all others were doing fine. So speak up if you need the time! --Kydorias, Lord of R'lyeh |
Re: Increasing the turnaround time?
Well 6 people have replied so far, with no one really against and 2 for, so I will take Dr Praetorious suggestion and ask Strages Sanctus/Manuk to move this game to a 36hr quickhost. A bit of a breather and thinking time for all.
Also because its quickhost, remember as soon as everyone does there turn it generates a turn, so the game will probably still move at 24hr pace most of the time. I only need extra time when work gets mad, busy every now and again. Cheers to everyone for being so understanding. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |

no problem
