Yeah, that's kinda why I wrote exactly the steps I did and what my thought process was so you can make the most of the learning experience. Nothing more frustrating than not even understanding what happened...

Hellboy = Abysia. Abysia declares war on the Marverni thinking my bare chested warriors will be a easy victim. Marverni begins the slaughter of Abysia. Hellboy legs it and hands over to you, davegg. Think of our war as character building! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

davegg -

Make sure you hit end turn and verify that the system has your turn. 2 hours to go and I show that you haven't submitted your turn yet...

I did, but the game seemed to freeze on the map. Is that normal? After about twenty minutes I forced closed it.

Yes please! I'll not only thank you profusely I'll use them to put the smack on Marverni for you. Send them to Mictlan.

[edit]

Alas on second thought I can't accept them. Perhaps you should look to see if you can forge items with them if you have no blood magic researched? There are several really good blood items that Abyssia can forge.

Hey Velusion, what is it you use to send out the mail notifications for turns? I was wondering if it was something I could recommend to other hosts, it sure makes my life easier....(thanks BTW)

I'm traveling again this weekend, hopefully it won't be an issue (it wasn't last time) but if you could give me a little leeway if it looks like I'm not gonna get my turn in it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

gee,

Shall the sad custudion of the embers of Abysis send their lovely young blood slaves (all 250) to the evil and ugly, every ugly, Marveni who even know are wrecking our land or will someone else get immediate delivery of the last vestige of our wealth?

Indeed, Baalz and Mictlan they are on their way; use them in good health!

So, guess it's time to take down Ulm's global, since Forge is certainly one of the "kill on site" ones. Helheim will happily donate some pearls to the cause.

I'll be on buisness travel from Apr 23 to Apr 26. I don't know if I'll have internet access during this time.

Can the game be put on hold during this time? If the delay is to long, a substitute is acceptable.

Thanks

Hah! Having other people do your dirty work eh?

In that case I'll be happily to donate pearls to anyone that wants to take down Helheim's global... Helheim that has almost 2x as much research and a higher gem income than me....

Forge + warrior smith + hammer = 90% cost recuction. I think tha's worth a little more than 20 gems a turn...

Look at you... a propaganda machine feeding everyone bad numbers!

Actually it's only %75. A 40 gem item now only costs me 10 gems to forge as opposed to my previous 20 (40 * .5(forge) *.5(D.Hammer+smith) = 10). So in reality, forge is only saving me %25 of base cost of an item. That assumes I use a Smith to make the item and that I have a hammer of course.

I'll be hard pressed to save more than 20 gems a turn (after the initial forging bonanza that is). Actually Ulm gets the LEAST benefit from the Forge bonus compared to any other nation due to the fact that forge bonuses don't stack.

You on the other hand can use your 20 gems on whatever you want, including rituals. You get your gems without the investment of forgers which could be researching. But then you don't need to do much researching do you "Mr. Has the most Research by Far".

Micah April 21st, 2007 06:00 PM

Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)

Ah, my mistake, "Only" 75% it is. Having a hammer isn't so tough when they cost all of 3 gems to make though...

It would appear that Folket is going to miss another host (2nd). Not sure what is up with him as he has a good position here. I'll give him until tomorrow night before I start looking for a replacement...

Actually, Folket put up a thread where he's looking for a replacement here.

As you can see, I'm one of the people wanting to take his place in this game in particular. ;p

Well, he just sent me the password for R'lyeh, so I guess I'm the new player for it. Now the only problem I see is the distinct lack of knowing the IP and port of the game.

The Aboleths of R'lyeh have regained control of their dominion and stagnation no longer affects their realm in the deep.

There is much to be done.

Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)

Why did Tempest just host? I did not send my turn in and I got a stale turn, yet it had 22 hours to go before host?

Micah April 25th, 2007 07:03 AM

Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)

I dunno what's going on, but the clock's messed up. It's showing 4 hours to the next host as well. I thought I somehow lost track of the hosting, which would have been a shame. Maybe Velusion's trying to sneak some extra turns in to make sure Ulm wins =)

Also, Marverni went AI? They're kind of in a strong spot to be given up to the computer unless that's related to the server-clock weirdness.

Reay April 25th, 2007 07:11 AM

Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)

Hmm yeah I noticed the 4 hours to next host.

So what does this mean? Should we do our turn before the 4 hours elapses? I guess that makes up for us missing the other turn hehe

Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)

I think Vel backs up the game, so hopefully we'll just get a reset.

Reay April 25th, 2007 08:49 AM

Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)

Yeah, I remember that he does backup the game files so I guess he will do a reset, which will hopefully give us another 24+ hours to submit our missed turns.

It is strange that Marverni went AI since he was seemingly growing in power.

Velusion April 25th, 2007 09:19 AM

Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)

Huh. Not sure. I'm taking it down now and can restore.

Velusion April 25th, 2007 09:34 AM

Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)

Sorry about that. What I think happened was I tried to reset the clock back to 48 hours last night because of Jazzepi's absence. Apparently the 4 took while my 8 was lacking, hence the time change to 4.

We are all restored back to immediately before it hosted, so it "should" be all good. Now in the past people have noticed some strange in-game stuff happening once I restored. I'm curious if that occurs again, as there is no logical reason why it should...

Vel, can you take it off quickhost for the moment? I had a partly done turn that it uploaded when I redownloaded the old turn, and I don't want it hosting til I have time to finish the turn up tomorrow. I'll post here when I get the turn in.

There seems to be a rather large disconnect between the actual amount of people who've played their turn and what the website is saying. According to the site only 2 people have done it, but according to the game everyone but one have done their turns. What's up with that? :O

The status page is jacked up because of the extended turn and restore. It will fix itself over the next couple turns.

Was it from the same PC? If you check on your turn from a different PC it will replace your turn file with a blank one.

I'm in Iowa, USA. I was able to get an internet connection but I can't connect to any of the game servers. Probably some firewall setting on my work computer which I won't mess with.

Anyway, I'll be home tomorrow evenning to continue my turns.

You know, as an off character observation, just my luck that R'lyeh staled before I took control of it and then there's a wait time of several days after the first turn I play.

Seriously, I think I have at least 1 point of misfortune in my scales in real life. ;ppp

Agartha will be set to AI anytime soon after a game in which it was an irrelevance from start to finish http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/fear.gif

Have had some bizarre (and powerful) mages being "spawned" in the last turn or two whilst commanders have been reduced to simple soldiers.

Is this normal ... see the attached .jpg with my never empowered or prophetized Wet One commander.

Never mind the attachment didn't stick - but the guy has level 2 in multiple paths (including holy). Unfortunately he ain't sacred as well.

I also have an Ichythid trooper that is level 3 in a couple of paths.

It is weird - and unfortunate that it didn't happen sooner given that the only mages Agartha has had for the longest time were those that survived the Helheim invasion,by jumping into the nearest pond and staying small. Have not been able to recruit any mages since then.
