Re: Manatee - EA newbie game (started)
I dont oppose on ending the game. I dont know who should win tough. I guess Kailasa and his nexus would be the most likely winner. Still if we continue the game there are lots of things that can happen, and I am as willing to continue as to quit. It depends on what you others think.

Re: Manatee - EA newbie game (started)
As far as I'm concerned, Kailasa has won this one. I have considered it over for a year or so now and the recent abysmal performance of Sauromantia against the Kailasa invasion drove a bunch more nails in the coffin.
(For anyone who doesn't know the situation, Kailasa SC's have been grabbing provinces without difficulty, Sauromantia has one big army in the area being seiged, I'm pretty sure the seiging army can communion up to casting master enslave.) The only reason I'm still in it at all is to see how things end up in the ocean, otherwise I would have gone AI by now. |
Re: Manatee - EA newbie game (started)
I wouldn't mind it either way, it's been five months and I feel like I've learned enough from this game, ya know?
Although I'm kinda surprised you're giving up early, can't Sauromatia cast spells like disintegrate or just spam those poison archers whose poison will always apply on armor hits? (I read that in a thread somewhere, I'll see if I can dig it up.) |

Nobody did anything when he cast Arcane Nexus. That is where the game really ended. As for those poison archers--I've got some pretty good scouting of the battle area and I've seen how abysmally Sauromantia's forces have been performing. I also have provinces next to his capital (his capital is coastal) and thus see something of what he's summoning there. He's simply going to march over the rest of the world. From what I can see of the world I would say my army would fare best against his SC's but that doesn't matter--there's no way I could hold my territory, he would just cut off my income and my forces would desert. He doesn't even need to do this, my dominion is being squeezed out as it stands. |
Re: Manatee - EA newbie game (started)
I did try to dispel the nexus twice, the most recent attempt I used 130 astral gems and failed. With Kailasa's gem income, even if I could dispel it it no doubt would have went back up in no time. There was little point in trying again so I didn't.
Spells like disintegrate (mr check) would have to be spammed like mad to penetrate the mr of the rudras and the seraphs. Ghost rider spamming worked well against the rudra's, but there are too many Seraphs, and I've had no luck taking them down. This turn it looks like I've lost half of my total army, my cap will be captured within a couple of turns. Too little, too late, did I commence hostilities against Kailasa (I actually didn't realize he had the nexus up, until I chatted with Niefel). http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif Without question Kailasa has won. Bon jeux Yandav! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif |

Nifelheim will not rule the world this time. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/Injured.gif
All players agreed (more or less) that Kailasa is winning the game. I'm going to declare the game as finished, but if someone does not agree we can discuss the matter. I will wait until Saturday and then we can begin with congratulations for Yandav. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif |
Re: Manatee - EA newbie game (started)
I have seen several hundred pearls worth of seraphs, I'm sure there is plenty behind that nexus.
I suspect the only way to take it down is to kill it's caster which I assume is his pretender. I think I could pull that off by wishing for him but that would do nothing about the SC's already running about and I'm sure he could be called back quickly. |

He would just get another Oracle but not your pretender.

Game over!
The game is officially finished.
The winner is Yandav with Kailasa. Congratulations Yandav! Thanks everyone for the good game. I hope you enjoyed it as I did. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smile.gif |
Re: Game over!
Well, thanks Falkor and everyone, this game was a lot of fun and I learnt a lot ( especially about ritual attack spells thanks to Niefelheim and Sauromatia http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif ). I 've been lucky during this game because my first two opponents ( Pangaea and Arcoscephale ) didn't have any archers which are a terrible threat for my ( almost ) naked sacred troops.

Re: Game over!
I was the one casting earth attack and leprosy over and over on that huge +600 stack of yours.
Oh, and what were the under-water nations doing the whole game? Hadn't heard so much as a peep from them. |

After I built up a good army I kicked Sauromantia out of the ocean and then the rest of the game R'yleh and I sat there staring at each other. Neither one of us was really in a position to want to attack. I had a bunch of underwater-capable Sauromantian troops staring at me and thus I didn't want to send forth anything like my whole army, yet I would have needed much of it to crack his fortresses unless they died of starvation. I had figured he could feed his troops with magic until near the end when I discovered at least some of his troops were starving. He tried to go into the eastern sea and got kicked back out by the giants. Had Kailasa finished taking out the giants on land we would have been going after that sea. He had more astral casters than I did but at the end I was beginning to field Searphs. They would finally have given me the mobility to start harassing R'yleh. Also, the Kailasa/Sauromantia war meant my army no longer needed to watch the flank and could have been used offensively. Long ago I realized there was no chance in the world of winning this, I was only looking to conquer the seas. |
