Re: Global War (started!)
It seems easier to patch it and have those with old patch turns redo them than for the rest to figure out a way to uninstall a patch.
|
Re: Global War (started!)
It is back up now, Moderation.
Okay, I will patch the server now. |
Re: Global War (started!)
Server patched and back up with no noticeable problems.
Everyone has taken their turn but: Ctis, Shinuyama, Arcosephale, and Ermor. |
Re: Global War (started!)
Hmm, what does this mean for people that already uploaded under the old patch?
|
Re: Global War (started!)
Wouldn't opening and sending your turn in 3.17 fix resolve any problems?
|
Re: Global War (started!)
I am nearly certain that if you uploaded an old turn you gotta do it again.
|
Re: Global War (started!)
Hmmm. It seemed to open my half done turn OK and let me make changes and save fine.
|
Re: Global War (started!)
I just popped in my turn. Sorry for the delay! Hope it likes the mix of new and old turns.
|
Re: Global War (started!)
Submitting a half finished turn in 3.17 should make everything 3.17, shouldn't it?
|
Re: Global War (started!)
Seems to be ok. I did my turn in 3.17 and it processed and I can get in for results. Nifty.
|
Re: Global War (started!)
Is it me or the server's down?
|
Re: Global War (started!)
It's down for me too
|
Re: Global War (started!)
Is it just me, or is this server up and down more often than a frog on a hotplate? ; )
|
Re: Global War (started!)
At least our host is astoundingly attentive. I think he(she?) mentioned that their internet is wonky at times.
Oh and Die Goods Die! |
Re: Global War (started!)
I don't know what the deal is.. I've never had this much trouble before with it.. Sorry for this, guys. This time I know it's my internet. I re-set the timer. I think when I am away next week, I will turn off the timer and just leave it quickhost.
|
Re: Global War (started!)
THE BURNINATOR RAMPAGES AS THE WEAK FOOLS IN PYTHIUM COWER UNDER ANY ROCK THEY CAN FIND. THE PYRES BURN HIGH AS BODIES ARE STACKED LIKE CORDWOOD. LET THE LIMP WRISTED HUDDLE OF "GOOD" SAVE HIM IF THEY CAN, FOR BURNINATION COMES TO EACH OF YOU NEXT.
|
Re: Global War (started!)
It's ok CU we all know you're reacting as fast as possible.
Let's just go on quickhost for next week but that will ask for a pledge of all of us to do our turn on schedule ! Cmon guys, dont let the BURNINATOR scare the *beep* out of you, let's fight !!! ;-) |
Re: Global War (started!)
Bah..the Burninator is nothing more than a talking DuraFlame. Nothing that a little Sidhe rain can’t quench.
|
Re: Global War (started!)
Your abominable flame may burn high, but the light of VIRTUE shines even HIGHER!
Pythium is more than capable of taking care of himself. Turn your eyes skyward, oh unholy fiery one, and wait... listen... can you hear your doom approaching? Edit: oh, the server is back up now. |
Re: Global War (started!)
Okay, new turn up. I am going away for the week (but I found a sub). I will turn off the game timer while I am away, quickhost on. So if my internet spasms out again, it's not a big deal, no one will miss a turn.
I have checked the weather, looks like there is a chance of thunderstorms thursday and friday. It is possible that my house might lose power on one of those days. I am putting a sign on my computer as well (roommates do not use!). So hopefully the server will remain up at least until thursday. |
Re: Global War (started!)
TNN thanks Abyssia for the new ornament sent to the Sidhe Queen. The head of the Burninator's prophet, Ben-Japheth, now illuminates the queen's hall and provides a pleasant red glow.

Re: Global War (started!)
THIS DEMONBRED WAS NOT THE BURNINATOR'S PROPHET, HE WAS THE PROPHET OF THE OLD KING. ALL KNOW BURNINATOR'S PROPHET IS TROGDOR AND HE WILL BE UNLEASHED UPON THE WORLD SOON IN ALL HIS MAJESTY.
|
Re: Global War (started!)
Good! More Abysian head / lava lamps for the Sidhe Queen's Hall!
|
Re: Global War (started!)
Ok pals,
CU has shut off the timer but hopefully each and everyone of us will feel honorbound (even evils! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smirk.gif) to complete their turn in a 48h schedule...or so I hope http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif Who knows? We may even be lucky enough to be able to do TWO turns this week !?! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/stupid.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif |
Re: Global War (started!)
sorry guys have you turned me AI yet? I haven't had access to my own laptop/desktop for a little while and I just stupidly forgot all my MP game. I assume pythium has taken advantage and managed to turn the wheel of fortune?
Anyways sorry about this people, could have found a sub but had a total hectic month, new job/new flat/new everything...:p |
Re: Global War (started!)
3 evils gone AI... Weak is all I have to say, damn weak of you guys.
At least I'll have something to blame. |

Re: Global War (started!)
We should at least attempt to find a sub before that.
|
Re: Global War (started!)
Fal can you send your password to Foodstamp so that at least we can find a sub?
It would be nice if people thought of this before going absent. As I understand it, with CU having turned off the timer, we're in for a week-long turn http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/fear.gif |
Re: Global War (started!)
okay have sent my password to Footstamp. sorry again.
|
Re: Global War (started!)
Does anyone know if Arco and Pythium still play ?
With Lanka, they're always last to play...if they play. |
Re: Global War (started!)
I have checked Lanka's position, it is still competitive if you know of anyone looking for a game to get into. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif. PM me for the password, super secret enemy info etc!
|
Re: Global War (started!)
Sorry about the delay all. Considering that Ulm and Pythium are on trips and that Lanka is seeking a sub, it's been an unlucky week. I wish we had the foresight to suggest a hosting extension to everyone earlier. In any case, my turn has been posted.
|
Re: Global War (started!)
Good to hear from you http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
Sorry if I put some pressure on some of you but with people starting to lose and turning AI (which is alright as at the end There can only be one http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif)...I wanted to check who was still in and who was out. I'm really glad to hear you're still in and fighting pals !! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |
Re: Global War (started!)
No worries. Playing a team game with 5 players is by it's nature rather complicated for me. You should see the traffic on our email list some day. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif But after all, this is all just an experiment.
By the way, has a sub for Lanka been found or did Foodstamp play his last turn? |
Re: Global War (started!)
I have flipped Lanka to AI.
|
Re: Global War (started!)
It must be obvious to many but I wonder if everyone know that this game can be played via a simple USB key, and so from any computer ? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/cool.gif
It only takes 500Mo or so and doesnt need an uber quad-core nvidia-buffed machine, so basically any of you who goes on a trip and have any acces to internet during his trip should be able to play. At least if he wants to http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/redface.gif Again, I may be stating the obvious http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/confused.gif |
Re: Global War (started!)
I'm starting to forget to check this game, not that it really matters. I just checked it for the first time in 2-3 days, and it still hasn't come to a new turn.
What was I doing this turn? I don't remember exactly... |
Re: Global War (started!)
Tuidjy, if you get a chance, could you let us know how things are and when you may be back from your trip? People have been asking about you. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
Also, I found a funny bug. When I click on EA Sauro's flag in the screen with all the colored flags where it says "GlobalWar Turn 25", the game crashes. Does this happen for anyone else? The game does not crash if I click on anyone else's flag. |
Re: Global War (stalled! again!)
Just thought the game header needed updating http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif
|
Re: Global War (stalled! again!)
Can't we all just get along instead? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif
|
Re: Global War (started!)
I'm sorry you reached that point Indy, more so since I'm really interested in this game.
This leads me to some questions (vote?) I'd like to ask : 1/ Would it be so hard to have all good subing for each other if needed since they're already allied and can share everything in the game ? 2/ Can we put back the timer and NEVER EVER, under any circumstance, put it off again ? 3/ Can anyone who knows he's going out for a trip (business or not) decide in advance if he's going to be able to play or please please warn us in advance so we can look for a sub? And as I said in a previous post, the game can be played via a simple USB key on any computer with internet access. Again, I'm not trying to stress anyone. I'm just looking for solutions to avoid losing fast-playing motivated players. |
Re: Global War (started!)
Hi Kheldron,
This has been a learning game for the balance of the format for the game organiser. I can see why he has kept stopping the timer. But I think in general it has been a mistake as the game has drifted a lot. And once you have started stopping the game for one person you it's hard to then refuse another request. And looking at the boards it seems fairly hard to get subs, especially temporary ones (??) But perhaps the stopping is something not to be done again unless everyone has signed up for a relaxed game? |
Re: Global War (started!)
Let me know if you guys want me to force host Pythium, that should get the ball rolling again.
|
Re: Global War (started!)
The server seems to be down anyway. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif
Also, I've been wondering, if Tuidjy does not return for a while, maybe CU could sub for Tuidjy since he is on the same machine... |
Re: Global War (started!)
yeah, that's why I asked for the goods to sub for each other. There's no problem IMO since they already can exchange any kind of information
|
Re: Global War (started!)
OK, I am back from Europe, and should be able to play regularly. But before I
got on the plane, my nation was not the only one holding the game. I am positive there was someone else. Now I cannot connect. |
Re: Global War (started!)
If you are Pythium, you are the last. But the server is down at the moment, and not on a force host schedule, so you should not have any problem getting your turn in. Just be sure to let the host know when he gets back that you need to take your turn.
|
Re: Global War (started!)

However, I think the host might be able to to play more than one nation from the same machine, but am not sure. |
Re: Global War (started!)
I'm back!
Was not a single turn taken when I was away? The server was up for pretty much the whole time, right? I'm sort of glad, but on the other hand that is strange. As long as it wasn't me who was holding things up. |
