Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

I've added 72 hours to the timer to give it one last try to find a sub. If we can't find one in that time we might have to call the game.

Or, we can save some time and you can all declare Yomi the victor now. ;)

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

I tell you what, since I'm down to one game at the moment, I can take over Abysia if you still need or want someone.

But I have a big project going through the weekend, so I wouldn't be able to do a turn until early next week.

So let me know if a sub is still wanted (if people are losing or have already lost interest, I probably shouldn't bother), and if waiting another 5-6 days to get going again is OK :)

LoloMo July 27th, 2011 02:26 PM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Twobits is definitely a good sub for Aby. Might even be able to wrap up the win in a few turns! I'm good with waiting another 6 days for a player as good as twobits.

Quitti July 28th, 2011 04:10 AM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Waiting is fine for me - I'm not in a hurry to go anywhere.

Thanks TwoBits! I'm willing to wait as well.

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Cool. Can whoever is in charge shoot me a PM, and I'll send back my email, and we can get things rolling! I wont be able to do the turn until after the weekend, but I can take a look now, and get an idea what the situation is :)

Aethyr July 28th, 2011 10:36 PM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

TwoBits, I add another 72 hours to the timer, but just let me know if you need more time. Many thanks for stepping in, and welcome to the game!

TwoBits July 29th, 2011 12:28 PM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

OK, I got the turn. Damn, what the hell have I gotten myself into? Is it too late to run away? ;)

So what's the diplomatic situation like? Am I pretty much at war with everyone? And if so, is that recent like I think (I'm wondering if that's what pushed the previous Abysia player over the edge :cold: )?

Anyhow, like I said, I'm busy this weekend, so I'll need a few more days. But then, prepare to burn! :D

Thank you for take care of aby.

Wish you good luck and get the victory.

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

All right. I've finished the big project, and have had a bit of time to look at the game - once again, what the hell have I gotten myself into? ;)

Um, I think I'll be able to get the next turn in in the not too distant future, but could I have 12 extra hours added to the clock, just to make sure there are no problems?

And if anyone has any diplomatic information or the like to impart, please don't hesitate to PM me here or at the alternate forum.

'Fraid for some reason dominions is just refusing to run at the moment, so it looks like R'yleh is going to need a sub until this all gets worked out.

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

BlanketThief, sorry to hear you're having trouble. Are you trying to find a sub right now?

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Yup, sounds like a friend is willing to take over all of my games for me so that's convenient. Just need him to get back to me with his email so the admins can do their thing.

Aethyr August 8th, 2011 12:26 AM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Great. I added another 24 hours to give your sub a chance to get the turn in, let me know if you need more.

TwoBits August 10th, 2011 11:15 AM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Wow. I feel like I've just taken a big bite from a huge #@%&-sandwich

I've got the sneaking suspicion (but zero evidence to back this up, so just my feeling) that the last Abysia player, seeing this impending uber-gank on the horizon, wisely found other things to do ;)

Well, I'm just a damn sub, but what the hell. In the immortal and infamous words of blowhard jocks and drunken 'bull in a china shop' presidents everywhere, I say "BRING IT ON!"

Yep, you all might bring me down, but this nut is not going to crack easy. I'll see that a few of you at least, choke on it before I'm gone. Let the fun begin, and the world burn... :p

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Gentlemen,

We've had some delays of late for various reasons, so I hate to slow things down but I need to add 24 to the timer to deal with a RL issue AND have enough time to give this next turn the consideration that its due. I apologize for the delay.

TwoBits August 11th, 2011 04:36 AM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Hi, just a heads up. I'll be out of the country from Aug 18 to 22, so I probably will not be able to do my turn during that time. I'll try to complete my turn before I leave. Thanks!

Aethyr August 16th, 2011 11:43 PM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

So, it looks like the timer has been bumped at least twice this turn. Quitti are you getting requests for time extensions?

Aethyr August 25th, 2011 05:56 AM

5 out of 10 players stalled last round. Oceania's been gone for 8-9 turns now (but they don't have much left). R'lyeh and Micltlan the last 4-5.

Aethyr August 31st, 2011 07:58 AM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Quitti's the official admin, so I'll defer to him. But here's what I know: I have heard from Mictlan, and he does not intend to return. R'lyeh's sub apparently had a problem (?), but Blanket_thief is back and should play the current turn - BT please confirm.

Hopefully the TC and Marverni stales were incidental and not an indication of future intent? Guys, what can you tell us?

I know the TC player does not (apparently) frequent this forum much, but can be reached on IRC (which I do not frequent), perhaps someone can inquire with him?

@ TC, I also sent you an in game message last turn. Our deal re: 116 is hereby revoked as it was never fully commsumated on your part. Yomi shall now hold this province against the firery hordes of Abysia!

@ Nief your assault on our ally Ulm has been witnessed, seriously?

Returning from Inferno.

I am about done anyways, FWIW.

Well, this is mildly disappointing. The 'Doomsayer' hero for EA Ryleh has several of his weapons as undefined in this version, making him go from cute gimmick to more chaff.

Sorry about my stale alst turn; I got back late from an out of town trip.

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Hello all!

I'm the long gone Oceania player of this game (can't believe I'm still in this). Sorry about the stalling on my part, but I was unfortunately injured in that horrible explosion that happened in Oslo, Norway this summer (I'm ok now by the way). So I've had my mind elsewhere to be honest, and didn't even think about this until today. I guess I might as well be set to AI at this point, can't imagine that there's much left.

Anyway, looking forward to playing more Dominions, and good luck with the game :)

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Sorry about the recent staling and all of that. My current schedule sorta has me missing both the reminder and deadline. I'm going to put a bit of effort looking for a sub.

LoloMo September 14th, 2011 11:25 PM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Sorry about the stale, I sent in my turn I think a full 12 hours before the deadline. Llamaserver only replied after the turn hosted already, and it reflected that I sent in the wrong turn number.

BlanketThief September 15th, 2011 05:55 PM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Going to be out of town for the next few days, I'm not sure if I'll have internet access and whatnot so I might need a delay on the next turn.

Edit: That is, I should be able to get this turn in a few hours, but y'know.

BlanketThief September 18th, 2011 03:30 PM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Eh, doesn't seem like I can edit my prior message, but a bit of an issue popped up and the trip is delayed until thanksgiving, so no delay required.

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Sorry for the delay folks, I've got family in from out of town and I've had little/no time for play the current turn.

TwoBits October 9th, 2011 11:30 AM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Time to specify the VC - from Quitti's initial post:

"Hold 1/3 caps (7 caps for 16+3) for 3 consecutive turns"

I've never been exactly clear on what exactly defines 'holding a cap' in these self regulated VC games. I presume it at least means being in control of (and not just besieging) the capitol's fortress, if there is one. Or does just controlling the province fulfill the VC (no need to actually storm the fortress - although that just seems too easy)?

If control of the capitol's fortress is necessary, is it also necessary to control the province as well? Or is holding the fort alone enough to count as control?

In games with established VP conditions (meaning VP locations built into the map), I'm pretty sure just controlling the cap fortress is enough to claim the VP.

Just wondering, cause, well, it's gettin' about that time... ;)

Hey Guys, I've postponed the next host for about a week at LoloMo's request so he can celebrate his honnymoon.

TwoBits, re your VP question, holding the fort alone is enough to count as control. :)

More specifically, holding the fort is *necessary* and *sufficient* to control the capital. The province itself doesn't matter for purposes of winning.

Aethyr October 10th, 2011 10:35 PM

Squirrelloid, you are indeed correct, my answer was imprecise. Thanks for the correction. :)

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Fraid I have to sub out for at most 2-3 weeks, at least until I get settled into the new house or get over my illness, whichever comes first.

Aethyr October 19th, 2011 07:50 AM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Hope you feel better soon BT. R'lyeh's big enough to play spoiler (at least). Added 24 hours to timer to see if a sub can be found. After that, what do you folks say, continue?

TwoBits October 22nd, 2011 11:20 PM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Only three people did turns, after having had more than a week. Is this game still going?

I'm still in! Sorry for the stale, was supposed to get back in time to finish and send in the turn last night, but got delayed.

Just finished moving all the boxes/furniture to the new place, still need to unpack but I can get my turns in.

Aethyr October 30th, 2011 12:43 PM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

Hey guys.

I'm sorry for the stales. I'm borrowing some computer time as I have a problem with my box that I will not be able to address/replace anytime soon.

I apologize for the inconvenience, but I will not be able to continue. I will send TwoBits the password so that the game may continue if that is what you all decide to do.

Aethyr

TwoBits October 31st, 2011 11:38 AM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

OK, I've got the password from Aethyr (sorry you have to go, and good luck with your computer issues!), and have added 24 hours to the clock, and can add more time if/as necessary.

Is it necessary? Abysia now controls 7 caps (its own, Arco, Marverni, Marignon, C'tis, Kailasa, and Hinnom). Ulm has me under siege at C'tis' old cap, but I'm fairly confident I can beat off any attempt to storm the place. I'd be interested to run one more turn just to find out though :)

Other than that, I'm fortifying all those caps, I'm still cranking out tarts and other SCs (Astral Corruption is a b*%#h, but Storm Demons make excellent bodyguards against Lesser and regular Horrors), I've got the Chalice, and 3 S5+ commanders able to wish it back if necessary. And now I've got Arcane Nexus up, just in case.

So what do folks think about continuing or calling it?

LoloMo October 31st, 2011 10:14 PM

Re: BearTrap - Early age game. Running like a cripple in a running competition.

I'm am for conceding the game to Aby.

But of course, if people really want to continue, and we find an eager sub for Yomi, I am willing to fight on as well! I just can't fight Aby all by my lonesome :-)
