Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Call no man happy until he is dead]

Bit of a problem with flooding in my area... power and internet were out for a time. Back up now, and I'll have my next turn in a couple of hours. Sorry about that.

And just because I'm small doesn't mean that I don't have much to do. Big plans for world domination are in the works!

The new patch is out, should we hold off on downloading it or will it depend on the server having been patched?

iRFNA January 18th, 2011 03:31 AM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Call no man happy until he is dead]

It depends on the server... As far as how or when the server gets patched, I have no idea. For now, don't install the patch.

iRFNA January 18th, 2011 11:52 AM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Call no man happy until he is dead]

Ok, just read gandalf's post this morning about the update. Install the patch!

freepower January 18th, 2011 12:09 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Call no man happy until he is dead]

If we've submitted turns, patch and resend?

iRFNA January 18th, 2011 12:16 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Call no man happy until he is dead]

I'm pretty sure the server is down currently. No idea about if we should resubmit turns or not when it comes back up, I guess we'll see.

Admiral_Aorta January 18th, 2011 04:23 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Call no man happy until he is dead]

See http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showthread.php?t=46942
Gandalf mentions that everyone will have to patch their games.

iRFNA January 18th, 2011 04:30 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Call no man happy until he is dead]

Yep, patch and submit your turn.

Admiral_Aorta January 18th, 2011 05:46 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Call no man happy until he is dead]

Vanheim, that was a ridiculous amount of PD.

"Was"? :P

Is anyone else having trouble connecting to the server?

Gandalf Parker January 19th, 2011 05:10 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Call no man happy until he is dead]

Yes I am afraid that is has crashed.

Did everyone patch to version 3.26 and put in a new turn file?

Or it might be something in one of the mods you are using. But considering the timing Im first going to guess someone having an old version.

Here is the error....
unr5477 cnr89 (deaths0) unr6878
highestunit 11494 highestcom 401
unr5477 (hp15) type Nemedian Champion -> cnr89
cnr89 unr6878 (hp10) type Nahualli
NĂ¥got gick fel!
unit2com inconsistency

Ignore the Nagot gick fel since that is just the game saying that something broke.

Peacekeeper, did you patch?

Peacekeeper January 19th, 2011 06:44 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Call no man happy until he is dead]

ya, i patched before playing my turn. dompatch326. In game says version 3.26 as well.

freepower January 19th, 2011 07:06 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Call no man happy until he is dead]

I patched, downloaded my old turn, changed a thing or two, resubmitted, I had assumed that was sufficient?

krpeters January 19th, 2011 07:56 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Call no man happy until he is dead]

Is the server up yet? I upgraded to 3.26, but I can't connect.

Admiral_Aorta, are you referring to the prior turn when I ate your squid? That was 25% PD and 75% troops... you were attacking a pretty important chokehold.

Or did you sack one of my other provinces when I wasn't looking? :)

Oh, just a reminder to everyone: my troops don't show up on your mapview (glamour), and there's no charts for you to gauge my army strength, so.... bwhahahaha :)

Admiral_Aorta January 19th, 2011 10:06 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Call no man happy until he is dead]

Oh right, that's why all your provinces look undefended. Durp. My kraken won't be gone for too long though, don't worry. ;) I updated to 3.26, so it's not me causing the crash.

krpeters January 19th, 2011 10:12 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Call no man happy until he is dead]

Do pretenders recover from afflictions when resurrected?

(For that matter, what happens to immortal beings when they die, do they recover from afflictions inflicted prior?)

NaivePhilosopher January 19th, 2011 10:37 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Call no man happy until he is dead]

I updated before turning in my turn as well. /shrug.

And yes, the glamour makes war with Vanheim...interesting is probably the best way to phrase it

Gandalf Parker January 19th, 2011 10:38 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Call no man happy until he is dead]

OK the game is back up and seems fine (knock on virtual wood)

This was a Lockheed Fix (military term meaning I didnt do anything but when I tried it again it worked)

Afflictions carry over, but the Kraken heals afflictions, so he'll be okay.

And with that ridiculous number of hit points, he'd still be a pain to kill even if he was feebleminded and had no tentacles left!

Yes, isn't it great! I see Man has Bogus and friends sieging one of their castles.

iRFNA January 20th, 2011 09:22 PM

Bogus is just jealous cause my people aren't ugly trolls.

Phew, just got a turn in there with 17 minutes to spare.

So sorry to hold things up, I've been ill and crazy busy. Thanks for your patience once again. :)

Fomoria's gonna stale soon.

Well, freepower has pulled a rather close call, maybe peacekeeper wants to top it.

Oh c'tis, stop trying to break out of quarantine. Keeping you locked away in a box is for the greater good, you know.

krpeters January 26th, 2011 07:01 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Zeal is its own excuse]

Well, I learned two valuable lessons today:

1) Hydras are more dangerous running away than attacking
2) Falling frost really effective at clearing chaff.

Time to rebuild those armies...

HA! Your greater good perhaps. I've been waiting to acquire the muscle to punch out since I got sandwiched into that box between you and Fomoria. I guess now we see whether I've got it or not!

lwarmonger January 27th, 2011 03:39 AM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Zeal is its own excuse]

(sigh)... my incompetent armies fail again. All they had to do was hold the line against vastly inferior numbers. The poison was wearing down the bless... sadly yet another failure. Oh well... the nice thing about lizards is that they are expendable. Extremely expendable.

iRFNA January 27th, 2011 12:23 PM

The Adeptus Astartes are not easily slain.

Just watched the battle, wow, that is a lot of poison.

Your mild cold dominion is really hurting my lizards... perhaps another approach is in order.

Sadly no.

Having never played Pythium prior to this game, I have to say that hydras have really impressed me. Sure they're expensive and slow to get to the frontlines, but jeez they've been effective.

Admiral_Aorta January 30th, 2011 05:03 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Zeal is its own excuse]

It's not very sporting to mind hunt vanheim's commanders from a distance, but I'm gonna keep doing it anyway.

krpeters January 30th, 2011 07:52 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Zeal is its own excuse]

OK, I grow tired of this. So, which is the preferred course of action:

(1) request a sub
(2) switch to AI
(3) stale?

Admiral_Aorta January 30th, 2011 07:58 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Zeal is its own excuse]

If you must leave then a sub would be better, but you should go down fighting. You can't win them all.

iRFNA January 30th, 2011 10:08 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Zeal is its own excuse]

Going down fighting is the way to go, but if you must I can look for a sub. What say you?

iRFNA January 31st, 2011 12:43 AM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Zeal is its own excuse]

Is anyone in the US in the path of the doom storm that is gonna start curbstomping people on tuesday? There's a serious potential there for a loss of power for over a week if you're hit by the ice...

NaivePhilosopher January 31st, 2011 02:34 AM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Zeal is its own excuse]

An online forecast is telling me snow Tuesday and ice Wednesday. I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do with additional snow given that these storms won't give any time to let the previous stuff melt, but if I do lose power I should be able to get word online. Theoretically, anyway, I suppose if everyone I know loses power simultaneously I won't be able to.

I tried going down fighting, then someone started mindhunting my commanders, preventing them from getting my troops to useful fighting locations. I got fed up.

Yes, please look for a sub.

Admiral_Aorta January 31st, 2011 08:41 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Zeal is its own excuse]

I was actually surprised that I managed to get your army, given that I have to guess where it is because of glamour. Also, I have a few surplus earth gems that I'd be willing to trade with someone for water gems or astral pearls.

iRFNA January 31st, 2011 08:47 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Zeal is its own excuse]

I requested for gandalf to toss the time limit for now while I look for a sub. Also because I requested to myself to kill the time limit in case I end up trapped in a snowy tomb. If such a thing were to happen, and I disappear for a few weeks, could someone cast Hidden In Snow at illinois (21)?

iRFNA January 31st, 2011 08:53 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Zeal is its own excuse]

That was fast, we have a sub already. Thanks Thanatus del Dragos!

Still doing the no time limit thing for the time being, though.

Admiral_Aorta January 31st, 2011 08:59 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Zeal is its own excuse]

I'm glad we got a sub, that'll be much better to fight than an AI.

Thanatus del Dragos January 31st, 2011 09:00 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Zeal is its own excuse]

Okay, let me poke around and get an idea what I'm doing.
