Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
The Ashdodian Empire
We welcome friendly relations with any of our neighbours during this first year of adding uncivilized lands to our empires. |
Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
Hello to
Mictlan Arco Abysia Wanna talk? -- So if I count myself, we are 6 nations in this tiny corner of the map. Where are the others? |
Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
The Kingdom of Ashdod can not confirm or deny that there are actually other nations on the map at this time.
|
Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
Hmm, but Ashdod confirmed with above message it itself is on the map.
So Ashdod has the rest of the map for himself? |
Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
Definitely. The Reign of Enterthenameofyourpretender! shall never end.
|
Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
You do know you painted a big target on your back, right?
(If anyone beliefed (sp?) you got the rest of the map for yourself...) |
Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
Believed, and they shouldn't. It was pretty clearly a joke. My four neighbours are Atlantis, Caelum, Vanheim and Erui.
|
Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
Interesting.
Still missing: C'ties, Ermor, Man, Phytium, R'leyh |
Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
No worries, the Emerald Empire is preparing for the arrival of its God. As such, our thaumaturgists are quiet, at this time.

Nah, your Atlantis is R'leyh. Because Atlantis is not in the game...
|
Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
The Abysian empire can assure the little monkey people of Bandar Log that the missing nations are likely on the other side of the map. R'yleth should be somewhere wet.
We are willing to consider peaceful relations of course, but any violation of our sovereign borders will be frowned upon by the Great Bubbles. |
Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
Your borders being where those red flags are, correct?
Anywhere else? To be honest, at the moment I dont plan to come further south. (those knigths look mean anyway...) |
Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
*sighs at Korwin*. Our senses of humour clearly fail, since I included a list of 4 nations not in this game.

Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
Well that's puzzling. I've got dominion in R'yleh's ocean, despite being on the opposite side of the map. Any ideas why?

LA Ermor, plus I think unlike singleplayer, if a random event takes your province and someone else tries to move in, that's usually a declaration of war.
|
Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
So, anything else happening in the world?

yeah, that one was a little weird.

Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
It's kinda confusing. I thought maybe he'd been set back by a bad random event, but there's been enough time for him to recover if that was the case.
|
Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
Well who ever is near has got one less neighbor to contend with. That person will probably leap to the front of the pack.
|
Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
Yeah. Basically free castle/lab with a nice boost to gem income. Luckeeee.

Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
C`tis at one point in the last 2 threads asked me to make sure that he doesn't stale this turn, and he's the only one with orders left to submit.
I'm going to add 12 hours, then leave auto-hosting on, then re-evaluate in the morning. If you're someone not C`tis, please don't withdraw your orders. I'm not sure if he deleted the post because he said he thought he'd make it or not; but I'll leave auto-hosting on; if you're C`tis, please don't take this opportunity to arbitrarily slow things :p |
Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
Turn in! Thanks for the delay.
As for Man, the fine and loving lizards of C'tis were more than glad in overthrowing the evil dictator pretender who established rule there. The good people of Man are in the safe care of the C'tis lizards. The Dark Lord of C'tis has taken personal interest in looking after these poor folk. |
Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
Quite frankly, i really dislike how this turned out. Ctis is already "powerful" in stock by itself, but getting a free lab, fortress and home province income this early is pretty huge. Bad manner by whoever is playing Man.
|
Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
In all fairness I think Man had a bit bad luck the first few turns. We were spaced 2 provinces apart too so I raided his capital soon as I could ( on turn 5 or 6 ) with my pretender. There wasn't much he could do.
|
Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
Well, I guess we know who we should all gang up on first!
|
Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
As it will swiftly become apparent from the score graphs, I am being double teamed in a surprise attack from Ermor and Mictlan. I guess I should understand why Ermor was unwilling to agree to a NAP-3.
Any neighbour of Mictlan can likely take advantage of this, as my scouts show all their armies engaged in the northern of their territory. They've also wasted 55 gold on province defence in almost every province. I'll also agree to send a single useful but can't be created by your nation item later in the game, if I make it that far (Dwarven hammer; earth, death, astral or fire boosters, that sort of thing). R`lyeh, if you're looking to make Landfall off the north of your territory, Mictlan and Ermor are distracted. |

Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
Your warning was a little too subtle for me, I guess. I'm not actually irritated, I understand that it seemed like a sound tactical move to interrupt border negotiations with a preemptive strike. I'm just here to make sure it doesn't pay off as best I can. :-)
I wasn't aware public information sharing was considered bad form. My apologies. That's a first game mistake, that I hope no other nation will hold against me. |
Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
Is Ashnod posting here ?

I'm Ashdod, Ragnarok.

Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
I see. I found it interesting how you messaged me about Nifel last turn. Now i understand why this pincer on you is happening.
|
Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
I don't recall sending that message, unless you're riffing off my sense of humour, and my sent message folder isn't working. Perhaps you could hit reply and send it back to me so I can see what I said?
Edit: Oh, I may have been meaning to send that to Agartha. Whoops. Him and I had been negotiating borders and I didn't know you were there as well at that point. |
Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
Well, its a learning thing. Most of us are noob, so stuff like this (one player leaving, messaged sent wrong, bad diplomacy) were/are about to be expected lol.
|
Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
Yep. I created this game precisely so I'd have the excuse of being new.
I'm deliberately sending you a PM presently :p |
Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
Also, I do appreciate commentary on my diplomacy style that led you guys to attack (Ermor and Mictlan), if you want to PM that to me, though I'll understand if you prefer to hold off until you've beaten me (if you beat me :p )
I am enjoying this so thoroughly. Profoundly glad I stopped playing against just the AI. |
Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
Well, you are Ahdod. The more powerfull Nations often get ganged upon.
But I'm not shure that was the reason for Ermor and Mictlan. Another reason might be, they think they have something useful against Giants. |
Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
Generally taking the strongest nation (Hinnom, Ashdod, LA Ermor, Jotunheim, etc.) is not a good idea since they usually get ganged. A newb can get away with such a nation but any experienced player should know the dangers of having a nation like that.
Personally, I would have attacked you instantly were you next to me on the map. |
Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
Pretty much all the reasons stated are why I decided to attack you. I knew from reading different guides and opinions on the forum that Ashdod can snowball into something pretty powerful with all of its sacreds and natural thug/SC commanders.
And your diplomatic style came across as overly aggressive, which didn't seem like the type of nation I'd want to have on my border or have further treaties with. |
Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
Makes sense. I was hoping the newb factor would disuade people :p . Guess not, eh?

Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 1, 12/12 remaini
I'll show you dangerous! :D
The only thing I can think of that is similar to this that I've ever played is a single game of "Diplomacy" the board game ~4 years ago. Or D&D :p |
