Renegade 13, I already deleted the game. If you don't have the turn I can email it to you.

So, Renegade, looks like we're up next.

Is there anything you'd like to change from the standard KOTH settings?

Seeing that my homeworld is about to get glassed, or worse yet, converted, the Electrum surrenders to Grandpakim.
It was a good game that see-sawed back & forth, but, alas, the Electrum could not prevail.

Fascinating game Electrum. I thought I was toast about turn 25. I had diddly squat! Besides my home world, I had only one other breathable! (Not counting that one I lost in the far west)

So I bit the bullet and researched another colony tech very early. Never thought I'd get away with it, but I guess your economy was in nearly as bad a state as mine.

I managed to hold on with my redoubtable fighters till I could build and train a serious fleet and take the offensive.

Thanks for a fun game. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Welcome to the family of "Broadband is very nice and all, expect when it doesn't want to work" Asmala! Do not say "I hope it will work again soon", as it is a major summoning of the power of Murphy. Speaking of which, if anyone has the slightest clue about why a DSL connection would go from 1k/sec to 70k/sec without reason, feel free to tell me. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Rex, Lord Chane surrendered to me a few days ago, so I should fall against you. My proposal for the game is as follow: we are kin; why would we want to fight? We should join our hands and do the dance of friendship, while sharing a drink as proper brothers, and... Granted, afterwards we will go for the crown as allies, and only then we will divide the kingdom between us.

If you do want to fight, my only suggestions are No Ancient and a somewhat bigger map where we do not start next to each other. What are your preferences for settings? But remember: we're not worthy to play with you!

Well, actually this connection is a dial-up. I'm moving again quite soon (in two or three weeks) assuming I'll get an apartment near my university. If I'm able to get a student house there should be a fast broadband connection waiting http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

I'm very satisfied to get this connection working, it took a lot of time. Finally I found that the problem was Winsock2 information which had been corrupted. A nice program found from the net fixed it. And before that I had removed and reinstalled twice all of my network related stuff http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif

Re: Are you tough enough to be the "King of the Hill"?

KOTH - Slynky vs Gravey 2405.1

After looking at the whooping I took at the hands of 15 warships (losing 25-30 myself while killing 1), it's time to call it a game. This turn followed on the heels of me killing a fleet of his (about 10-12 warships) on the other side of my empire (while watching my fleet of about 30 warships get whittled to their knees). Needless to say, with Gravey having bigger ships, better ECM, better Sensors, and shielding, things won't get any better http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif .

Sorry I couldn't have given you a better game, Gravey, but starting on an outside system with your home system 2 away from me (to my inside...thus being able to block off my expansion fairly easily) was more than I could overcome. As if being pinned to a few outside systems wasn't bad enough, my homeworld was on the very bottom of the system screen (meaning it took me 3 turns just to get a ship out of my home system heading north...and that's with propulsion bonus!). Of course, you knew it was a tough spot and I thank you for offering to restart.

Good luck up the Hill http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif .

Asmala, when you get a chance to set me up with another opponent, I'm the one in the mud puddle at the bottom of the hill http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif .

Re: Are you tough enough to be the \"King of the Hi

Asmala, please move me up to the next level. Rambie surrendered to me this past turn due to lack of resources and my large fleet heading for his home planet. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Rambie, great game! When I started looking through the systems you had when you surrendered I can see why you ran out of resources. You hardly had any planets at all! I controled 2/3 of the map and I was still going through and finding empty systems the closer I got to your home. I was very suprised by this because we met in some systems away from yours so I figured you had the other system colonized from there on in.

But I feel that if you had expanded better then you did you would have won this game. Your ships were on par if not slightly better then mine as far as technology level is concerned and at times I was very worried about that fact. But I just keep my economy going and new with as much map as I started to control I would eventually run you out of resources because of you trying to build a large fleet to combat mine. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Thanks for the great game and perhaps we'll meet again!

Re: Are you tough enough to be the \"King of the Hi

Hail to Asmala. He is still the King.
The Primitive one truly lived up to his name in this game http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

After Asmals stole my pop early I took a crazy chance and went for the early second colonizing tech while waiting with ECM and Sensors. With the ballance mod and the difficulties to train ships I figured I would have time enough to upgrade the sensors later. Guess I was wrong, when Asmala came I still needed 3 more turns + repair time to have my ships ready to face him.

Could still made a fight for it though, if it wasn't for the fact I just tried to colonize 25 planets with my new ICE class colonizers. Unfortunately they had the Rock colonizer module. Damned upgrade button http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/redface.gif
Wouldn't have mattered much if they had the right tech though, Asmala would have won this one anyway.

I need a rest Asmala. Take me off the hill for a while

I decided to go as straight as possible to default LC design (ECM 3, sensors 3 etc.) and ship/fleet training. I hoped I would catch Primitive off-guard that way, and it looks like I succeed.

Primitive, I haven't seen your main fleet yet, so I'd like to know how many LCs you had. I had total of 79 LCs (plus support ships). Half of those were still travelling to the meeting point or being upgraded to the most recent technology.

Thanks for the nice game Primitive.

-Geo's balance mod

68 LC's. About 45 of them in training next door to Gergan. In 4 turns they would have been formidable http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

+ 38 useless colonizers http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/redface.gif

What was your score BTW. I was a bit supprised not to be in front when the colonizers popped up. I had 715 K points, 176 K resources, 134 K Research and 110 Ships + 2 Bases.
