You mean there is another philosophy?

I do think this is a good idea I think planets should have a chance to explode when the attack is carried out in that manner. You get a message: The crust of planet XXX was cracked by your latest attack and the molten core has broken through causing complete distruction of the planet and surrounding area. Your attacking fleet has been lost.

Then too you could try to make a self-destruct facility for planets http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/ima...ons/icon12.gif. Only used by complete zenophobes that think that if an outsider gets to their planet it is unclean and must be cleansed with fire.
