Hello,

my name is Laszlo, and I'm from the same little country as DominionsFan:)
I'm an MD working on my PhD, so I don't have too much time playing games, but I play Dominions since the first version.
I just got my copy of Dom3, and I hope I will spend many happy hours with it after I finish writing my thesis:)

Hey, welcome on the boards László. :-)
If you can, come to the Dominions IRC channel -> #dominions on the gamesurge network, we set up blitz games there all the time [TCP/IP]. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

I guess I'll join the party. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif I'm Michael, 34, from Germany, have worked some years for gaming magazines and later switched to online community management/development (been doing this for over a decade now). A few years ago, Gandalf Parker's posts about Dominions on Usenet roused my curiosity about the game, but when I picked up D2 when it came out, I didn't have enough free time to dedicate to the game. Today I finally got my copy of D3, and I've spent most of the afternoon reading the manual and playing the tutorial -- and I can feel the addiction creeping all over me and my spare time already. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif So, hello to all of you!

I'm a 48 yr old retail analyst from New York area. My start in gaming was with old Avalon Hill boardgames. Played and painted a lot of miniatures (ACW, WWII, Ancients and yes, Warhammer).

Dom3 has a real fantasy miniatures feel. The guys I played miniatures with would try to create campaigns to play out on strategic maps to generate tactical battles. This game is like the best version of that ever made. Now if only I could pick up the sprites in my hand, feel their weight and admire their paint jobs http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Hi

Visited these forums for the first time about 1,5 - 2 years ago, when I played Dom2 daily. Tried Dom3 and looks promising. It doesn't offer really anything new compared to Dom2, but then again IMO there never really were any big concerns.

We have how many Finns here now?

*counts*

Right, time to overthrow the current administration here, lock JK and KO up someplace where they can dedicate all of their time to tweaking and improving Dom3 and...

Hey! What do you mean I get locked up with them and not getting out before you all have a comprehensive Dom3 database?! No way is-

*is dragged away*

http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Anyway, welcome to all the new people here. Once I get the game and start cracking on the DB projects, I'll be the one you all can pester for trivia on units, sites, weapons and so forth. Will need to do a few Faerun maps as well...

Glad to meet you all. I'm 24 year old biochemist, currently live in London. Played Dominions 2 a while back during my studies (guess what I've been doing http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif). Loved it as it reminded me the old gaming days. Just ordered the D3 and can't wait to start playing, well, at least I have the demo for now.

...brr, too true. A real life example for all of you who still hold to a delusion that the Gandalf's quote is just a joke:

I'm currently at work, on saturday, because I should have my master's work ready and finished by monday. And what do I do? Mostly I'm trying to figure out how in the hell my archers armed with mere daggers managed to kill several prot-30 Dai Onis in melee in my first Dom3 2-player MP. Not that I'd have any complains for the heroics of my sween man-eaters...

...oh well, should actually do something productive... :E

And there are a lot of Finns. Yet I haven't played against a countryman since Dom1 days, so maybe we aren't that numerous.

Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)

Just turned 26. I earn a living in marketing/marketing consulting in the North Bay Area, California, USA.

When I'm not playing computer games (not much into console games except Final Fantasy) I am a rabid fan of the California Golden Bears college football team (known as Cal), which was my alma mater, and who happen to be a top 10 BCS team this year, with a shot at winning the Pac-10 conference. I attend all the home games.

Been playing since Dom II. I'm a fan of the "good" (give or take) nations such as Pythium and Forges of Ulm (and now New Faith Ermor). I sometimes wish there was a clear Gondor-esque nation of "good" guys in Dom, but what makes the game great is the unique mythos, so maybe I should watch what I wish for. I admire the series for it's complexity, and am ok with the dated graphics, but wouldn't mind an awesome cgi intro showing five or six of the nations battling/sieging/doing what they do. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I'm loving DomIII so far and am looking forward to trying more diverse nations. Love the tactical discussions and wealth of advice here on the board.

So that's me.

Hi to all,

My first post http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Well, let introduce myself. I'm 31, born in Poland (in Swinoujscie - an island, that probably why I like so much R'yleh...) Now, I'm living in France, working in Navy(R'yleh again)...

I began on computers in 1983 with Commodore 64, then Atari ST (Ahhh Dungeon Master...) In 1995 I turned on PC, ah the Civilization series... I liked alot Xcom serie, Flight Simulator, Ultima VII and VII 1/2... and Doom I and II... I also like wargames, both comp. and boardgames...

The ulitimate fantasy game for me was definitly MofM or Master of Magic. (ahhh the Zombie Mastery spell) Since Mofm I just didnt liked all fantasy strat games up to Dominions.

Now, with Dom3 I will probably go for a no life period...

Hello everyone. I am 36 and live in Mobile Alabama (USA). I am married and have a 6 year old daughter with twins on the way. I am a hospital account manager currently meeting the Electronic Medical Record needs of 74 hospitals in the North East and Midwest part of the US.

I have been gaming since I was about 10 years old and prefer turn based strategy games, although games from the Total War series hold my attention as well.

As for hobbies, I travel weekly so they are pretty well limited to the occasional game and designing my own turn based game called "The Chosen" as well as visits to the gym.

I am extremely impressed by the forum and the international participation it seems to foster as well as the variety of its members.

Cheers everyone!

Hi. I recently turned 25 here in North Carolina, USA. I made the huge mistake of picking this up two weeks before finals. The demo caused me to put off a term paper and since I just received the full version, it appears as if I won't have it ready for this evening either.

Thanks!

Nice. In Sweden it's called HBT. I have a lesbian friend. I wouldn't say she's an activist, but she's quite into HBT stuff. I have learned a lot about HBT from her and believe that I have made away with most of my prejudice and misconceptions thanks to her.
Unfortunately she's not a dedicated gamer and would probably not like Dominions http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

This Lesbian/Gay/Bi/Transgendered activist thing is a bit too hardcore here in Hungary. People are not very tolerant in this topic here. [I guess no wonder, since for example anti-semitism is also very high in the country..]

Welcome Migaaresno! That was a very original introduction! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

And in fact, I think I'll make myself a forum god decription as well:

Edi, Keeper of the Database, Archivist of Dominions, Cataloguer of Sites, Patron of Mapmakers and Modders, the Unforgiving Lord, is a forum pretender god trying to banish all other forum pretender gods to become the One True Forum God. He is a mighty wielder of the word and steeped in the lore of Dominions, for which he is revered. His bane is the Clock, which doth not give him enough time, and despite his power, he is consistently stomped flat in multislayer games.

(Well, all two of them that I've taken part in anyway and those were in Dom2 http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif)
