Good Idea?

You know guys, I have had a ton of fun in this game, and I learned a lot to boot. Unfortunately, what is coming up on us quickly is a large war. C'tis, Pangaea, R'lyeh, and Caelum will soon be the only nations left. While any war once Atlantis is gone will undoubtably fun, it will also be long, very long. We are at a point where, with the exception of Caelum, everyone is done with research, magical gems are coming in at large amounts, armies grow to huge sizes, and SCs like Seraphs are being utilized. Mind you, R'yleh is not the only nation with a Seraph. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif Any war will take a long time to complete, and the management of it will be brutal. I propose that once Atlantis is gone, we agree to a four-way victory. I should add that I am not proposing this because I think I will lose, I am just looking at the situation realistically.

Re: Good Idea?

I would definately agree to a pantheon victory, even though I think that my chances in the endgame at this point are quite good. It would take an enormous amount of time to entirely conquer everyone or for everyone else to conquer my absurd number of castles. If the majority wishes to continue I will acquiesce and fight it out, however.

If the game is ending, I think it'd be fun for everyone to swap passwords and take a look at how the other nations are set up, maybe write up a little history of their nation or an short AAR. I am definately interested in the playing styles and strategies of the other surviving players, and am willing to share my own information in return.

What do you guys think?

Re: Good Idea?

Lets wrap up Atlantis at least. I think the 3 of us are in a position where it would be anyone's game in the end.

Im up for ending this game, although GoRed metal dragons are quite fun...

Re: Good Idea?

Be sure to let me know when the game is going to be ending so I can stop the host. Is this an immediate type thing or something for a couple weeks hence?

Well I just devastated the world's economy and the ability to cast monthly rituals. Pangaea ushers in the apocalypse http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

I can do a nice mass-wish for armageddon too, if that would help http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

End Times

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

Re: End Times

Let's give Caelum and Ctis a few rounds to cast spells of world destruction, then lets call it a game and swap passwords if you guys like.

Re: End Times

Whoa, Eater of the Gods attacked 3 of my commanders this turn, what a beast! He got my Nexus too, that jerk.

One of my Seraphs served him up his just dessert, however. True ethereal or not, he got his *** kicked. >:)

Re: End Times

Chalk up 1 for the Eater of Dreams, and 0 for Slave to Unreason (RIP).

There will be a deathmatch soon, so get your SCs ready!

RamsHead February 27th, 2007 11:26 PM

Re: End Times

Crap! I stalled. If we could have the SC showdown next month that would be great. I can contribute some pearls if that helps. Otherwise I will only have a half-finished SC.

NP at all, the tournament is this turn so you did not miss it http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

RamsHead February 28th, 2007 03:09 AM

Re: End Times

I know that, but I stalled last month so I only have half the items for my SC.

Potatoman February 28th, 2007 03:00 PM

Re: End Times

Unfortunately I won't have access to my dominions machine until tonight, and I've already given my generals orders to attend the tournament. Wishing for another one will force the winner to use the Champions Trident which, at this stage of the game, would be a huge handicap in the next.

RamsHead February 28th, 2007 03:50 PM

Re: End Times

I believe that unless your SC's hand slots were empty, you won't get the trident.

Shovah32 February 28th, 2007 04:05 PM

Re: End Times

Im pretty sure that anyone with hand slots(full or otherwise) has to pick up the trident if they win(this is going from what i remember from dom2)

Re: End Times

I just ran a test, and you are right Shovah32. Oh well, its not like I would have beat Spockomus Prime, or whatever his name is, without a lucky roll anyway. So are we quiting now?

Foodstamp February 28th, 2007 05:53 PM

Re: End Times

The tournament was a bust. Only the Seraph showed up. I am not sure why my champion did not attend. Wish for another tournament please =)

Potatoman March 2nd, 2007 03:16 AM

Re: End Times

Result of tournament 2: victory for Spockamus Prime. Only R'lyeh, Atlantis, and C'tis showed up. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Atlantis' diseased triton offering was good for a chuckle though.

Igarak was pretty tough, but the Infernal Sword he wielded didn't live up to its description. It looked like he was hitting with it regularly, but there was no Infernal banishment taking place. Empowered prophet Seraphs who have wished for power are tough http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif.

I'm ready to end the game. Caelum got dominioned out this turn and with my second wish-caster dead and my nexus income down from 140ish per turn to 25, I've run out of fun things to do.

RamsHead March 2nd, 2007 05:33 PM

Re: End Times

Grrr, that stupid Infernal Sword! If it would have worked, you would have lost. Oh well, I am ready to call it quits. Should I PM Sheap to take it off quickhost and get rid of the timer that way we can all see how pathetically weak I became?

Potatoman March 2nd, 2007 05:44 PM

Re: End Times

I'm not sure how illuminating sharing passwords would be now, since probably half of everybody's commanders got dragged off by horrors, aged to death, or deserted because nobody could pay them.

Fun apocalypse though. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: End Times

Great game guys, was alot of fun. So we agree to Pantheon victory, Pangaea, Ctis, Rlyeh and Caelum correct?

RamsHead March 2nd, 2007 06:59 PM

Re: End Times

Yep, great game! I will PM sheap so he knows to close the game.

Shovah32 March 2nd, 2007 08:47 PM

Re: End Times

Im afraid you'll have to take caelum off that list http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Foodstamp March 2nd, 2007 09:07 PM

Re: End Times

Leave caelum on. The fact that we pretty much agreed to a mutual victory changed a lot of our playing styles towards the end. We would have played differently if we planned to take it all the way. The game was declared over before Caelum was eliminated.

OK, I took the game down. I'll keep the game files for posterity.
