The game 'Jagged Alliance 2' had a silly approach to this problem... if memory serves, should the player's mercenaries be customers in San Mona's bordello, the game played a short soundtrack accompanied a full-screen, winking smiley.

Hmm. What are 'Dark, fire, cold power'? Stat bonuses gained under those conditions?

Re: *snort*

Some units (Fiends of darkness among others) gets +1 att etc during darkness. I thought it would be better if you could se that without having to cast darkness and then inspect the stats of the unit.

Other units get +1 att during heat (lava warrior IIRC) or cold.

It seems like most, if not all, demons have raised stats during Darkness. Maybe the spell description should be extended to illustrate this. So far it only says that Darkness has no effect on undeads.

Re: *snort*

With the icon i think it will be quite obvious if a unit has darkness bonus. More obvious in fact than if it says in the text.

I think the icon is quite nice.

And NOW I learn all about these powers.

So, all I have to do is add those (and stormpower boost for good measure) into the DB, go through a lot of units again and make sure the formulas stay intact...

Ooh, carrot! *munch, munch* http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Not a big problem, really.

The way OpenOffice handles any column addition changes is that it'll automatically adjust the formulas, so all I need to do is add the columns, check the units and then copy the formulas from some column and adjust a couple of things for things to show correctly, so while it will be a bit of a headache, it's not going to be a major one. It'll just be part and parcel of the DB update for the next patch when it comes out. But I couldn't resist making the above post.

I have a suggestion for you K O. I think a battlefield wide spell which makes all old units young again (temporarily) would be interesting. It would work rather nicely with old guard units like the Triarii.

Obviously it wouldn't be very high level or require gems to cast. Probably nature or water or astral.

I guess they'd have an increased chance of going berserk then too.

Then again, perhaps they would be automatically charmed by any succubii (is that the plural?) and such the enemy has fielded...

Re: *snort*

I guess that at least 10 blood slaves have to get defiled in the process so that one can call it a real orgy...

Amhazair July 10th, 2007 03:16 PM

Re: *snort*

The question is: Does defiling the blood slaves use them up, or can you still sacrifice them afterwards? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif

DrPraetorious July 10th, 2007 05:53 PM

Re: *snort*

The spell is "fertility rite", it takes 1B and 2N, it triggers the "fertility festival" random event in the target province, and at the end of the spell description it says "no blood slaves are harmed during the filming^H^H^H^H^H^H^H celebration of this rite." I'd say it should cost 5 blood slaves - less than that wouldn't be as funny, more than that starts to stretch credibility.

Oh, and, KO - nice work on Tir. Fast becoming one of my faves for the EA. Lots of diversity, lots of finesse.

Kristoffer O July 10th, 2007 08:56 PM

Re: *snort*

Hmm, a sexist bunch we have here. The orgy is not sexistic. Its just hedonistic and gruesome. Fornicate with your friends (maenads) and get fornicated by their friend (a satyr; ityphallic, halfman with beastly traits) and sacrifice a girl at the end.

Dr Preto: Aha, thanks. I have almost forgotten how they are. Perhaps I should play them some time http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

R\'lyeh needs \"the fungus things from Yuggoth\"

It comes, from beyond the plateau of Leng. It comes through time and space. Ones mind reels amidst the chaos and its most foul odor. From beyond Yuggoth and through alternate realities it comes. It arrives through the Void Gate. It arrives to serve.

The Void Gate needs the addition of the Mi-go, the fungus things from Yuggoth. I was so impressed with the "Great Ones" being included. This would be a good opportunity to add another Lovecraft staple.

Please consider adding another Void Creature. The mind reels at the possibilities.

Thanks
Aristander

* Cave province names

Looks like the next patch is going to be REALLY awesome. Of course, all this new stuff means that it'll take a good while to update the DB afterward...

Kris, with all the new icons maybe you could consider something that Ive been wanting. The map filter for income I rarely turn on. But Id love to have one for resources. When Im getting pushed back by someone I tend to check all of the provinces for places that I can build a bunch of units while skipping ones that can only build a few that are not worth picking up with a commander.

I just got hit by the scales bug, and then my scales started to come back, but I got ALL the bad ones first, 3 sloth, and 2 unlucky. Only 3 turns later is my growth and order starting to kick in. I wish this bug would be fixed x.x

Gandalf: you mean like the '4' filter. It already shows both res and income. It also shows how much res has been used in the provionce.

Otherwise I can't help you. Wait patiently for JK.

Jazzepi: I agree. Think of it as a bad event to feel better, like a feature and not a bug http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Does this mean we might see undead bandar if we Raise Dead from a Bandar province? Sweet!

"Look. An undead monkey."

vfb July 14th, 2007 08:17 PM

Re: R\'lyeh needs \"the fungus things from Yuggoth\"

All the monkey nations got the new "Summon Vetala" spell when Lanka was added, I think. Bandar Log has it for sure. So, you don't even have to wait for the new patch, to see undead monkeys. Hopefully any independent undead apes from Raise Dead won't be Vetalas (Possessed Corpses) though, they are nasty!

Re: R\'lyeh needs \"the fungus things from Yuggoth\"

Npoe. It means some provinces with undeads have pisachas instead of ghouls or soulless. Poptype is still the same as in other undead provinces - crap slingers.

And reanimation is based on tha casters nation, not on province.

If we could MOD a list of our own poptypes without changing existing units the games would become more unique. Another idea is making the change of poptypes available with a map edit command.

Re: R\'lyeh needs \"the fungus things from Yuggoth\"

Yup. That's up to JK. I have no idea of how much programming it would take. But generally I believe he is more inclined to add mod functions than changes in the game.

Suggestion for a new icon

Regarding new icons, it would be a good thing to have an icon for communions which displays the boost to the magic levels, I think. For the masters and slaves, that you see how big their current boost to the magic levels due to the communions is.

thejeff July 15th, 2007 10:44 AM

Re: Suggestion for a new icon

The slaves level is raised for the purpose of fatigue. Is it raised for casting their own spells? (Assuming the master is not casting this round. Or casts after this slave.) That could make communions even more powerful.

If not simply showing the boost to magic levels would be confusing. It would make sense for the master, but a slave icon would be better for the slaves.

I would assume slaves don't share fatigue from spells cast by other slaves?

That's exactly what I mean with the communion icons thing. I don't suppose the slaves have any boost to their magic levels for casting without the communion, that wouldn't make sense.

thejeff July 15th, 2007 11:15 AM

Re: Suggestion for a new icon

Many things about communion don't make any sense to me.
I'll try to test that tonight.

Kristoffer O July 15th, 2007 05:22 PM

Re: Suggestion for a new icon

Rather than expect icons for communion you can expect a fix so that slaves don't do stuff. Not that I can guarantee when this will happen, but it seems more relevant, and I'm not powerful enough to make a communion icon, as the effects are obscure http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif.

thejeff July 15th, 2007 06:36 PM

Re: Suggestion for a new icon

Well, slaves don't actually get a bonus to casting, which is good.

I have to admit, I like slaves being able to act (cast or attack) when no masters are using them, but having them act just because they go first doesn't make sense.

It would also be nice to see the master's current path levels.
