Yesterday night a great feast was held
Thousands years later, archeologists will find a strange marble tablet and will wonder about its meaning...

Re: Yesterday night a great feast was held
Yomi want at least to honor the spirit of the great ermorian wyrm. The demons remember how well it raided our provinces in our first fight and what a pain it was to chase... Later we discovered that even wyrm could wear helmet in order to ride motorbikes, oops , in order to rout even the bravest demons...
One of our greatest warrior found a strange amulet on the body while he was eating the reptilian flesh. He does not know its purpose but think it may give him some strength of the dead beast... |

Militia
Arrgh! For the love of the jungle, no more "wave of religious zeal" militia events! Please!!!!
|
Re: Militia
One of my favorite little mods changes militia to be holy. So the free guys are at least slightly more useful, and half price. Makes recruiting them without a temple impossible, but who really recruits militia anyway http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |
Re: Yesterday night a great feast was held
Cool tablet, the spirit of my mighty Wyrm feels pleased!
OK, I'm done, finished by pretty much everybody and their mother. It was a pattern - neighbours would start attacking me, some would realise at some point that I was about to fall and my neighbours to rise and ceased hostilities. Rinse and repeat. Crappy starting position didn't help Anyway, good game everybody! Happy dealing with Niefels. Ermor |
Re: Yesterday night a great feast was held
Anyway, I think everyone was impressed by your early expansion ! It was one the best I saw ! The drawback is everyone (me included) was jealous and started to worry about it.
This game is really fun : - make a wonderful early expansion and you may be hated. - make a poor early expansion and you may be eaten. |
Kailasa has disappeared
Kailasa (BandarLover) has staled the last 2 turns. Should we ask that he be set to AI? I PM'ed BandarLover about a different game he's MIA in, and got no response.
|
Re: Kailasa has disappeared
I think we should. Maybe even stale him this turn, and see what his answer is. Maybe we can get another turn in before thejeff goes outta town.
(oops....meant that for game Whyte) |
Re: Kailasa has disappeared
Good news! BandarLover played his turn in Perpetuality. So hopefully he will get caught up in these other games too. Please disregard my question about setting him to AI, thanks.

Tien Chi will put a knife in your back next
Be warned peoples of this world. Many months ago Tien Chi wished to forge a NAP with the nation of R'lyeh. Our people suggested a three month NAP with Tien Chi. This NAP was not adequate for the army of Tien Chi, they wanted a NAP with a six month warning.
We reluctantly agreed to the six month NAP requested by Tien Chi. Yesterday we receive a message from Tien Chi telling us the NAP is over and we can begin aggressive actions in six months. A mere one month later, Tien Chi has begun attacks upon our people. We ask anyone who is willing, to join in the wholesale slaughter of these people who have no honor. The people of Tien Chi shall become our slaves, feeding on their own filth as they fuel our war machine. Die well scum. |
Re: Tien Chi will put a knife in your back next
Eh Wot?
The people of Tien Chi have ever been honest and forthright. Yes we desired a 6 month notification of hostilities as the proximity of our nations would make a 3 month notification relatively useless. Our messengers must have been misunderstood, the dissolution of the 6 month NAP was due to our perception that our options were limited in respect to the turmoil facing the rest of the world. We have offered to re-negotiate at the end of that 6 month time frame if the case so warrants. There were no declarations of war, no attacks planned or ordered, and above all no knives. Attacks! What attacks? Tien Chi has never broken their word and hopefully never will. Our troops have not even moved towards your territory. As I'm sure you have spies available to you, you will notice no troop movements towards adjacent provinces - I have even moved groups of troops AWAY from our borders. Tien Chi does admit to a bit of spell casting in your direction, namely 6 astral windows to seek knowledge about your empire. We noticed Ry'leh flags popping up in random places and sought further knowledge as to your expansion. We have noticed you expanding to the far west, the far south, and significantly in the former domain of Ermor. Would you begrudge us seeking to better ourselves with knowledge? On top of that, we fail to see how this calls for breaking a pact and being called oathbreaker? Nations of the world, ask yourselves this - in all of your dealings with the territory of Tien Chi, have you had reason to question our word? If anything, we could be accused of being too forthright with the amount of information we share. In closing, any breaking of our Non Aggression Pact until turn 59 will be met with great vengeance and furious anger. edit: The overcast of Well of Misery was far from an act of war, it was an effort by many to share the wealth of such a useful spell. We were just deemed the most available to do so. Benefits from the well are to be had by all in the form of tax breaks and it is still not too late to be involved with the monthly dispersement of gems. Please enquire at the Magicka resource allocation department and fill out forms 2843a, 48578b, and be sure to sign forms 2945L and F. |
Re: Tien Chi will put a knife in your back next
All the other nation leaders have to do is look at the graphs to understand what is going on. You say someone else casted the province targetted spells? Then it was at your request for we are at peace with all nations currently. Let's see if they come out to hold hands with your nation, or hide in fear as you people are devoured, their blood is used to fertilize our new lands.
You dug your grave, prepare to inhabit it. |
Re: Tien Chi will put a knife in your back next
We had no part in whatever caused your income to drop so drastically, we believed you were more upset over the loss of the well. If map spells were cast, as we mentioned via PM, we'd have no part in it. I'm a firm believer in not wasting gems for temporary affects. For the most part anyway, flames from the sky/murdering winter are useful in and of themselves if extremely flush with gems. It is unfortunate that you feel so strongly about this, as I'm sure its just a case of bad luck or mistaken identity. As I said, I have no plans to break our pact. As of turn 59 we can re-negotiate if needed or if you still feel this way and continue with the unfounded complaints we may meet on the field of battle. |

R'lyeh said in his message, he was breaking our three months NAP because of Tien'chi putting things on my shoulders http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif So here is my public answer (that anyone can copy and paste) Duh ? Why it should be Tien'chi related ??? That's sounds very odd !!! If you just want your part of the cake, just ask for it ! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif Yomi's demons love to eat and understand the hunger of others... We currently feed the giants and they seems to have a huge appetite. We're ready to feed the treacherous nation who mind hunted us during our truce... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif |
Re: Tien Chi will put a knife in your back next
We didn't mindhunt you during our truce. I take NAPs very seriously and abide by them.
Appearantly, for the rest of you, a NAP means that you are allowed to cast offensive spells at enemies and they are not allowed to fight back. Do you really believe that a NAP means that you are only forbidden to take provinces from the person you have a truce with? One more thing Eressil, I would appreciate that you do not share private messages with the rest of the forum, thanks. It is against the forum rules and you can be banned. Here is the rules concerning private messages you agreed to when you registered to this forum: Quote:

Re: Tien Chi will put a knife in your back next
Yomi,
In response to your accusation. R'lyeh did not say we were breaking our NAP. We said that we are ending the NAP and will abide by the three month agreement before we start smashing your face. |
Re: Tien Chi will put a knife in your back next
You're right, I should have a copy of the forum rules stickied on my wall.
But now I hope everything is in order http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif BTW it's cool to remember me the forum rules, but it could be even cooler to answer my question ! Can you explain me why your attack on Yomi is justified by Tien'chi's actions ??? That sounds just odd and seems like a vain attempt to turn me against Tien'chi. You're blaming Tien'chi about treachery but you're the one who casted two mind hunts on my commanders during our NAP. So who is the traitor and the one who should be hunted down by all the unlucky nations ? |
Re: Tien Chi will put a knife in your back next

But we don't need R'lyeh to smash our face. We got already a plastic surgeon in the name of Niefelheim ! |
Re: Tien Chi will put a knife in your back next
I have already answered your first question. I take NAPs very seriously and I did not mind hunt your commanders.
|
Re: Tien Chi will put a knife in your back next
We have recently received PM's indicating that Ry'leh seeks to implicate us in trying to pass blame onto other nations. We have never done so beyond a simple "We have no idea". Blaming Yomi for actions related to your recent troubles are one thing, saying that we named them as the culprits is another. Nothing further from the truth. But lets be honest, I think it was: Yomi Tien Chi Mictlan Abysia Niefelheim Kailasa C'tis Ry'leh (in the library with the candlestick!) Now everyone can be upset that I have named names and started playing the blame game! Nations of the world, the only recent PMs associated with Ry'leh's recent problems was a short refute that Tien Chi had nothing to do with it (and we don't like to spend gems that way). Everything else has been on this board. |
Re: Tien Chi will put a knife in your back next
Yomi: No need to blame R'lyeh for the Mind Hunt on your treacherous bandit leader. It was the Giants that carried out said attack, and we shall continue to do so where ever and when ever they raise their little heads.
Come to pappa little demons. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |
The waters have parted
In light of the recent activity be warned that Mictlan has upped our defenses, and our retaliation against any attacks will be swift and fierce. Toads will fill the sky and Horrors will stalk the lands!
These goings on have put a damper on our plans to congratulate ourselves on opening up the oceans of the world, to those that would visit to view their wonders. Nevertheless, Mictlan will soon be hunting for sunken treasures in the lake to our south! |
Re: The waters have parted
War you wanted, and War you shall have. As of this turn, 4 turns before the agreed upon NAP was dissolved - Ry'leh viciously attacked our unsuspecting citizens. Thousands were displaced, dead littered the fields of our peaceful villages. Tear faced Children looking for parents, Stoic parents looking for children - a tragic scene. 4 Provinces lost while at peacetime defense levels - 1 luckily defensed. While our advisors plead caution, we cannot allow such insults to be forgotten. Nations of the world, we formally declare war upon the alien spawn from the deeps and their undead immortal pretender. Beware the teleporting mindlords and their ability to land in far flung places. We shall do our best to erase this unearthly scourge for good. ** Donations to the widows and orphans fund can be made by filing form 38a, cross-referencing form 42f and signing the yellow and blue copies (the 14th and 18th respectively). |
Re: Horror of horrors
Kurgi is a bad, bad... evil, nasty, mean, BIG badguy. That hurt. Kurgi = bad. |
Re: Horror of horrors
I gotta set myself to AI this game. School starts back tomorrow and I am in eight games, so I am finding it hard to do my turns for this one and two others because of map size mainly. In this one I am fighting on so many fronts that I cringe when I look at my turn because of the amount of time it will take to do my turns properly.
Good job getting together an alliance consisting of most the server when Tien Chi has almost every unique artifact and Tartarians galore. That must have been some fast talking to convince them I was the real threat. Well played, you deserve the victory you almost certainly have earned through diplomacy unless Mictlan gets their head out of their rear and realizes what is up. Even then I think Tien Chi is going to run away with this one because Mictlan will be fighting multiple allied nations too that have no chance of winning and are praying to be the last eliminated by Tien Chi for whatever reason I don't know. Was fun, the massive alliance being the only thing that soured it for me seeing how I was a middle of the road nation at the time behind atleast 3 others in power. |
Re: Horror of horrors
That sucks man. Ry'leh scares me to be honest. More so than the Giants or a blood gorged Mictlan. Starting location, hanging out on my back door and scales just made me think of potential threat, not necessarily current threat.
I for no reason think I'm an obvious winner by any means, but I will admit that right from the get-go I started currying favors because I thought (still) that you'd be a late game threat. In truth, there was no "whole server" alliance against you, but there were multiple actions with server wide assistance/acknowledgment/donations - dispels/rewrites. There was also quite a bit of explaining exactly what I was doing, which gave plenty of fodder for further activity "i'm attacking here, here and here... look, I'm NOT attacking here, and here" "or I plan on dispelling xxx, I have xxx gems and going for a xxx cast, if anyone wants to donate let me know" Saint_Dude says you're a good player, so unfortunately that just fueled my paranoia. Sucks to see you go, see you in perpetuality. |
Re: Horror of horrors
Woot! Significant upkeep drop! |
Re: Horror of horrors
"Your global enchantment has been dispelled." Ha ha ha! At least Foodstamp left us some fireworks to look at. Or did the AI do that?
Sorry to see you go Foodstamp, have fun in your other games! |
Re: Horror of horrors
I don't think it was the whole server. Just all the nations that hit me with offensive spells then canceled their NAPs with me. That doesn't include Ctis and Niefelheim.
Yomi felt that I was Mindhunting his commanders during our NAP, so I understand his position, even though his current enemy had great access to astral mages. Kailasa is just trying to be one of the last to lose, because this is his first MP game. Mictlan is playing way too conservative and should have been at war with you already. Every turn that he remains at peace with your nation shifts the balance in your favor due to his bless becoming less important. I always learn from these games and this time just like in "The Middle Way", I made too many friends. I expected those friends would be handy against the stronger opponents later on, I did not expect them to use our NAPs to attack me with impunity. In one of my first large games I was in an alliance similar to yours and we ended up winning the game and declaring a joint victory. Looking back on that game I realized how boring it was to crush the opposition with the alliance, but I feel like I did it because I was new to the game and was afraid of what the veterans might unleash. So I can't fault you guys for doing the same thing I have done in the past. I am getting better with R'lyeh. I just need to focus more on a concerted plan towards the end of the game. Thanks for the great game and I look forward to playing with you guys again in the future. (Maybe on a smaller map because of time limits) |
Re: Horror of horrors
VFB, that was me. I dispelled Thetis, then waited for the game to host to make sure it went through. Then went to AI. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
|
Re: Horror of horrors
Well I had really really hoped you were going to wait one more turn as I knew it was coming. I had enough items forged to save most, if not all of my army and 3/4 of my mages. I just needed the lab from that castle to equip them. So great timing. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/redface.gif |
Re: Horror of horrors
I am really surprised you guys casted it with so few gems.
|
Re: Horror of horrors
Chalk it up as yet another noob mistake http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif.
I cast it at a 50% off site. I wonder if the excess gems were counted at half off or something weird like that? If so, serves me right for buying a Thetis on sale! |
Re: Horror of horrors
You really can't afford to buy an offbrand Thetis. Sure it saves you money up front, but they have a tendency to wear out faster than a namebrand Thetis, often at the worst possible moment. Now the seas wreak of sailors who did not think to bring ships.

If the base cost is 50 and I put in 75 gems at a 50% cost site (even though a minimum cast is 25), I'm still at +25. The only way I'd save money would be to cast at the minimum and then recast when it's dispelled. Which isn't a good plan with Thetis http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/eek.gif. But since I know I'm prone to mistakes, all my main guys had Goblets as a precaution, and I lost mostly chaff. Yay, less chaff! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |
Re: Horror of horrors
Ich, I know it could have went through with me setting myself to AI, but I would not have got the pleasure of seeing all those units drown if I went AI the same turn. I would have had to hear it secondhand http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
|
Re: Horror of horrors
I'd show screenshots of the list of deceased commanders, but its a bit embarrassing. Multi-page embarrassing. Lets just say I had a significant drop in battle mage upkeep. Fortunately the younger generation of battle mages that are being shipped to the front now have Role Models - Role Models of what NOT to do in the water. Great stories of valor, always followed by that little snicker of how they passed. |
Re: Horror of horrors
It was once said during colonial times that if given the order, the British army would march into the ocean rank by rank without hesitation. And they never even had access to water magic.
