I had two problems against Marignon: first was that my undead armies were kinda.. useless against all those priests. Second thing was the fire 9 bless. With a stable front line, my poison slingers could have actually destroyed your front, spacht (and this actually happened once) but fiery weapons were bit too much to handle, and I got Fire Fend too late. Bottom line is, Marignon has a lot of weapons against C'tis and my playing was long way from perfect. Good war, anyways, I hope that I can take a rematch with you some time, spacht http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Apologies to all for staling. There are times now and again that I just lose track. My life doesn't 100% all the time resolve around Dom3 (wish it could!). I set it aside at T-12hrs and something comes up and I go to bed having forgotten. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif

Spacht and FF -- my scouts had front seat views of some of those battles. Quite the fireworks display!

Amitatman the Terrible, Nagaraja and Prophet of Circe, has announced that the Nagas of Patala have accepted peace with the Utgardian giants, having secured the concession that they begin a more rigorous bathing & hygiene regimen.

It was noted by many observers that the Nagaraja spent most of his time in Utgard either falling into a hibernative sleep due to the cold weather or suffering indigestion from eating ... things that he shouldn't have.

However, the Prophet is now back in the Jewelled City and recovering from the ordeal in the royal hot spring, awaiting the advent of Circe, Goddess of Rivers, Rain, and Fashionable Lateness.

Situation is getting more interesting http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Three aggressors got a bit stuck on my lands. Pangaea is starting to get some attention on other borders. Almost all Atlantian aggressors have been annihilated and their capitol should get under siege soon. Similar future awaits Agartha, whose armies are barely alive in my territory, infected with diseases and other ugly things. People of Arcoscephale are tough and they can fight even three enemies at once. And win!

Argathan armies suffered losses while marching across the vast desert between their lands and Arco's.

New methods for extending Argathan reach to these lands have now been developed and are being implemented. The unholy, vile, disgusting nation of Arco better enjoy their feeble victories while they still can.

There was no NAP. Post the exchange. You rebuffed my offering for peace many turns ago over a squabble over a single province.

Also, Arco signaled that by beating 3 players at once you were were the current "king of the hill" and certainly the one to beat. The giants can read between the lines even though our bathing skills are lacking.

I would agree to binding arbitration with llamabeast as the non-biased judge as to whether our thread of many weeks ago constituted a NAP (assuming he would agree).

-SSJ

PS In a week you may be posting another blurb gloating that you are now beating all four of us... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/shock.gif if so I'll tip my hat to you with no venom (but perhaps with some light trash talk...) http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Re: New semi-newbie game!

Of course we had a NAP and it is very clear from your posts. I am just amazed that you cannot make any reasonable explanation. Nor you do not have guts to just break a NAP like normal player does.

And about that arbitration. What happens if you are found guilty? Surrender? Give back land back + reparation? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

sansanjuan April 9th, 2008 04:59 PM

Re: New semi-newbie game!

I would certainly give back the land immediately. That is the "binding" part http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/eek.gif. If Llamabeast came back and said "sansanjuan.. per the text in this PM thread and according to my experience in D3, you had a NAP with Arco" case closed. That goes for any reparations too. Even "Utgard is now AI". I'm surprised you didn't make a similar arbitration request when you were given gems but did not provide an item...

Your other option is to post our *entire* exchange and let the community decide. That would not be "binding" since unlike Llamabeast the players may have biased opinions. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Whatever happens... remember, unlike RL we are playing a *game*. Take setbacks like a man. I've given you two options. Present your case without rancor.

Re: New semi-newbie game!

Hmm, how bizarre. Well, if you do want me to arbitrate, seems to me the best thing is for Zeldor to send me his password, and point me to the PM where SSJ agreed to the NAP. After all, looking at SSJ's posts won't help - any number of PMs without an agreement don't disprove the existence of one after all.

I'm not sure if you can change passwords on this forum, but you probably can - Zeldor, you should probably change your password before you give it me, and change it back afterwards. Not that you can't trust me, but it's good policy.

Re: New semi-newbie game!

Okay, I took a look at Zeldor's PMs. Not something I really want to make a habit of doing, but anyway...

So, it seems to me to be a classic case of crossed wires. They seem to have got close to finalising an NAP, having discussed borders and so on, but SSJ never actually finally confirmed the NAP. So I can completely understand why Zeldor thought they had an NAP - many players would think the same - but I think SSJ is correct in stating that the NAP was never signed.

Also, I think the issue was made into a bigger one than was really necessary. If someone breaks an NAP with you (or appears to do so) - well, that's pretty annoying obviously. You might think to yourself that you probably wouldn't trust that player again. But being as such conflicts are almost invariably based on misunderstandings I don't think it's necessary (or pleasant) to do much more than that. Obviously in-character propaganda against the supposed NAP-breaker is fine, but out of character attacks are not so good, I'd say.

Hope everyone thinks my comments here are reasonable.

Zeldor April 10th, 2008 05:17 PM

So SSJ is not backstabber, just normal coward then http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Though I give him chance to be a man - back off and fight me when I deal with other invaders [or rather deal with invaders after they manage to kill me].

At this rate, I may need to coach my future descendants to take over Alexandria for me.

Another game I am in, Figment, started a month later and is at ~ the same turn.

The turns here always seem to go the full time limit and now beyond it. I'd say stick to the deadline and if the delays are the result of a lack of desire, then encourage people to go AI. Here I didn't see anyone ask for an extension which from my POV would seem to indicate indifference to staling or not.
