Bandar Log, it seems, has to bear the brunt of coming winter. Our capitol's temperature has dropped to average temperatures! You must understand how embarrassing this is to the nation of pantless Apes accustomed to warmer climates.

Other than that, our relations are warm and comfy and we don't understand the hurry of others to burn and pillage. They must be compensating their forthcoming impotence in advance or something.

Yeah, but you're nice and hairy. Or are you worried about shrinkage? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/redface.gif

I'm sad I missed all of the hullabaloo..... I take personal offense to the referencing of fascist military dictatorships violently oppressing their people.

In other news, the weather in Gath is..... well, violently oppressive. The people fear their cruel masters, and the possibility that they will return to their flesh feasting ways. I try to guide them, so that one day they will be once again comfortable having public competitions of wit and strategy. Hopefully when this goal is achieved, they will be so grateful to have such wonders, that they will remain respectful of all those responsible for the gift, and act responsibly so as to honor the other competitors, rather than only thinking of themselves before, during, or after the game.

It is a simple dream I have for my people. Is it so wrong that I consider it so noble an aspiration?

huh?? if quickhost is set to 24h, the full 24 hours will elapse so i dont see why the next turn has to be delayed.

EDIT: ok, i somehow read that the turn would be delayed. and not just quickhost disabled.

btw. with 60 players, there will anyway someone stale every turn and the change would not have been necessary.

Tichy June 15th, 2008 06:25 PM

Re: Weather

I think it's so that the time of day host occurs is consistent, instead of creeping backwards if players complete the turn before 24h. I'm in favor of it. I like knowing when, exactly, host will occur, barring technical problems.

Aezeal June 15th, 2008 06:32 PM

Re: Weather

No quickhost makes the game host sooner if all players have played their turn.
Quickhost 24 hours means it will host when
a. all player have played their turn OR
b. 24 hours have passed

Re: Weather

It was requested by a player who wants to do his turn early, but does not want to run the risk, however slight, that the turn will host sooner than 24 hours.

Zeldor June 15th, 2008 06:46 PM

Re: Weather

But that makes no sense? He still has 24 hours to do the turn...

Tichy June 15th, 2008 06:49 PM

Re: Weather

If he mails in the turn and *then* wants to make changes to it, he runs the risk of the turn hosting prior to the full 24h, which it will do if everyone else submits theirs, because it sees his turn has been submitted.

I do not think poor Pythium cheated. After all Dr P has his capital under siege. Most likely Pythium sympathizers sent him gold. That message is typically wrong.

Lastly, I think it would be risky to try anything "funny" on Llamaserver, because llamabeast could, if prompted, peek at your turn file.

I did cancel 2 units in my recruitment queue: the weird part is that I got this bug only once and it was the time when I try to use the kingmaker mod before the start of the real game.

On a side note: I regret that my english vocabular is so poor, I could have a lot to say to la man who decide to attack me as soon as he saw that my capital is under siege http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/mad.gif

The Bank of Ulm is open!

Yes, that's right! As a special treat, I have opened the Bank of Ulm a turn early, with 500 gold, 4 air gems, 3 water gems, 4 death gems, and 9 earth gems. For those of you who haven't heard the news, I'll post the (finalized) summary of the Bank of Ulm and its workings, in italics just in case any of you are denser than blacksteel armor.

The Bank of Ulm is an entity which people can loan money or gems to and from. Those loaning to the BoU may gain money at a n interest but may only withdraw their money or gems after 12 turns. Those taking loans from the Bank must pay it back at an interest. The exact numbers are as follows:

Gold:
1% interest rate, compounded, on loans to Ulm
3% interest rate, compounded, on loans from Ulm
Gems:
10% interest rate on loans from Ulm of 1-9 gems
6.5% interest rate on loans from Ulm of 10-39 gems and to Ulm of 1-9 gems
4% interest rate on loans from Ulm of 40-99 gems and to Ulm of 10-39 gems
2% interest rate on loans from Ulm of 100+ gems and to Ulm of 40-99 gems
1% interest on loans to Ulm of 100+ gems

Additionally, for 100+50g-per-turn-after-opening and 1+.5gems-of-any-type-per-turn-after-opening, or an adequate item, any nation can become a Favored Customer of Ulm, recieving the following benefits:
Only 1/2 of the gold sum is compounded, the other half is non-compounded
A 7.5% interest rate on gems, instead of 10%
A 10% discount on all items forged by MA Ulm

Finally, search for diversity, search for a cheap option, search for Ulm!

One final note: Please move all offers to take or give loans to the Megagame Bank thread.

Tension

The tension in the mid continent is getting pretty strong. Not much room to move around, and not many indies left. I predict war soon, although LA Pythium will not start it.

Baalz June 17th, 2008 09:07 AM

Re: Tension

The drums have started. Thumping ever louder, they can be heard through the hills. They can be heard below the waves. Cave walls shake and smallfolk cower. The reavers from Oceana are coming, blood and steel mark the rising of the sun.

Too long have we Capricorns suffered the oppressive yoke of the Triton Kings. Too often have our reavers been censored for taking our birthright from the soft surface dwellers. No more, we say. The time of the Tritons is passed and the nation of MA Oceana lay claim to all to which we are entitled. Starting with the throne of Oceana and ending with the ascension of the new god.

The protection of the Triton Kings no longer applies and all who dwell on the coast are now subject to the law of the sea. By blood and steel we will take what is ours, those too weak or cowardly to hold in the old way may appease reavers by holding gifts high and avoiding eye contact.

The new era has begun, and the tide is rising.

I completely forgot to add in the current holdings of the Bank of Ulm. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/redface.gif

So do I. ^^
The bad thing for my triton boys is that those foolish Aboleths just broke the NAP3 we signed 1 turn ago and ally themselves with the silly Caprithings. Considering the fact that they will have to wait 3 turns before attacking me, that Caprithings already took several provinces of mine and that my army if far superior to R'lyeh soft meat, thus impeding them a fast offensive, just guess
- who will take a heavy number of my provinces and who will collect crumbs
- who will eat the other one after I'll be finished http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif

That said, I keep some hope in my sacred fellows and we will see how expensive they can make that invasion.
BTW, if any kind hearted people wanted to help my soldiers to fight for Universal Justice and Freedom, we will gladly accept gems, money, allies, whisky and hot babes. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif

Just send your gifts to EA Oceania, we won't forget.

Baalz June 17th, 2008 12:24 PM

Re: Tension

Bah, there are no lack of enemies in Kingmaker that we need to make more out of our friends, and none can claim we have ever dealt unfairly with them. We take issue with your description of our ally's having broken a NAP with you - indeed despite our urgency in negotiations they insisted that they could not attack for 3 more months despite the inevitable difficulties this will cause. They did sense the changing of the tide however. Your attempt to sow discourse is hollow, for I invite all Kingmaker to observe how MA Oceana deals with their allies once the Triton Kings are slaughtered. I also invite all of Kingmaker to observe how we deal with our enemies, and offer appropriate tribute when reavers appear on your shore.

Amhazair June 17th, 2008 02:43 PM

Re: Tension

While far removed from the tumultuous happenings under the waves we offer our best wishes to our cousins, the Capricorns of MA Oceania. Of all the creatures of the sea their outlook on life is most similar to ours, even though they do retain the naive optimism about the future we shared in our earlier days, but that has been largely abandoned now in the gloomy forests of LA Pangaea.

Tales From the Front: The Wrath of a Woman

Ormund the mighty Utgard giant had faced fierce blizzard dragons and ice trolls and slain hundreds of foes until the Arcos lass with the funny face tried to seduce him one night by the campfire. Her ways of love were too foreign for Ormund, who was used to women with more meat, more hair, and more “fragrance” and much less talk. Yap, yap yap - all night she spoke in flowery prose and her ballads of love confused Ormund, giving him a pounding headache. So when he grunted for the woman to be silent, she unleashed a series of bolts from the sky. Zap after zap, poor Ormund tried to dodge the uncannily accurate lightning, each bolt causing his warrior braids to stand upright in a smoky haze. He managed at last to strike the fey temptress down, but not before she stole his manhood (Battle Fright -5).

If you should meet Ormund, he will likely run away, but beware, every now and then if you talk too much it sets him off to morale 99.

Re: Tales From the Front: The Wrath of a Woman

Isimede, the Sibyl, divines this future for Set, leader of LA Ctis. Unlike the Astrologers, we do not rely on the stars. From whence our knowledge comes, none may know:

Set, God of the Desert, Head of a Beast, you will fall but shall rise again:

In one of your neighbors you must place your trust if you are to survive. If you do not another will destroy you, and this enemy cannot be defeated by LA Ctis alone.

Be very careful on how you rely on your Sauromancers in battle, as the passing ages have taken their toll. Fatigue makes cowards of us all, and death follows fatigue as surely as dark follows night.

When the Moon bleeds red, the time to act will have passed. If your ally is not in place, Set will meet his Doom, from which he will not rise.

The Glorious Nation of Kailasa has to make a sad announcement. The Nation of Hinnom has fallen and will soon be forgotten from the lands of Kingmaker.

Our Gurus have seen it in the Stars.

The Yavanas have shed a tear for them.

The Bandar are sharpening their swords.

The Atavi will shoot them in the back.

The Markata think that chariots are a sad excuse for an elephant.

coobe,

your sub needs to give send a pm to me so i can replace your email address with his email address.

I am sorry to hear that you have issues in your private life(: Good luck with them. Hope they are not too serious.

Thanks for playing.

Edit: If there is a current player, who has already lost his capital, or knows he is going to lose it(ie hopeless situation) that is interested in taking over midguard, who Coobe reports as not being a bad spot, let me know.

What would have to happen is Llamabeast would set your present race to ai, and you would take the present turn for midguard.
