No idea. I guess we may just have to live with it for now.

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running

Hmm. I am tempted to go back to a 72 hour host. We only went to 96 hour for Aristander, and he is gone now. And Septimius seems to be comfortable with shorter host times now.

It would get the game moving quicker. Let me know what you think. It should be an easy vote with only four of us.

I vote for going back to 72 hour host.

I'm rather busy of late, but I should be able to deal with the 72 hour host. Though, I've got no problem with the 96 hour host either.

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running

The nest few weeks should be relatively free for me so at least for May 72 hour hosting should be fine.

Lingchih April 30th, 2009 11:30 PM

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running

OK, I haven't heard from PsiSoldier, but since he is always the first one to get his turn in, I don't think he will have a problem with it. After this turn hosts, I will set it back to 72 hour hosting.

Septimius Severus May 2nd, 2009 01:00 AM

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running

Oh yes, PsiSoldier, forgot to mention, the current unofficial NAP plan in effect was as follows:

Once the AI's had been eliminated/or it is decided to begin outright war:

Ermor would attack Lingchih from the north, whilst I and Arco attack him from the south. :D

Lingchih May 2nd, 2009 01:07 AM

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running

Bring it on then. You guys know you cannot defeat me. You can only hope to contain me.

Lingchih May 2nd, 2009 01:11 AM

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running

Did I mention that I have almost all the elemental royalty, most of the unique blood summons, and a ton of Tartarians? Well, if not, consider it mentioned now.

Lingchih May 3rd, 2009 02:16 PM

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running

Hmm. This is a bit distressing. PsiSoldier seems to have disappeared. I will PM him and see I get a response.

Lingchih May 3rd, 2009 10:00 PM

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running

Ahh, good, Psi got his turn in. He sounds like he is quite busy at school now. Anyway, hosting time has been reset to 72 hours, though I think this turn will still be 96 hour.

Nice job on R'lyeh, Sept.

Wow, that was quick. I may be getting to be called a slacker soon.

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running

You know I hadn't realized that score graphs had been off since turn 53 or so, so I've been looking at data that is out of date, and subsequently not preparing for our confrontation. Lingchih, did you turn off score graphs? or is it a bug? I prefer them on (though you may feel they give away info) so I can judge how I am doing and also how many provinces left to AI's and indies. I remind you I'm still working to finish Ulm and would like an armistice of sorts before we begin outright hostilities.

Lingchih May 8th, 2009 10:14 PM

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running

I didn't touch the score graphs. In fact, there is no option to turn on/off score graphs. That is done at the start of the game. Something wonky is going on.

You can check them with some degree of accuracy in game, but no hard numbers.

I figured you couldn't change them once the game started, I thought you had some bit of super vet magic or something. The stats began to look increasing familiar. Perhaps it is that bug Llama was talking about due to the upgrade to the latest version of Dom 3. Well, let me finish off Ulm's 3 provinces before you jump on my back. Shouldn't be much longer.

Lingchih May 10th, 2009 04:01 PM

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running

Score graphs are back on. Llama kindly reset it for us.

Oh, and I got tired of losing units to lightning strikes, so I thought I would pay Ermor back with a little Purgatory. We should be even now.

That would be Lingchich finally finishing off the last of the Aghartans. I had 25 formerly Aghartan provinces that were waiting for my sweet sweet dominion to arrive. Whoever was playing that race had some serious dominion.

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running

OK. Let's get this on. I know you have a couple of Ulm provs left Sept, but all the rest of us are done, and seriously, those last few castles should not give you a problem.

Hostilities against each other will commence next turn (not this current turn). Who you attack, if anyone, is up to you. Get your stuff together Sept... you know who I am attacking first :)

I would recommend that we commence full hostilities on turn 75 rather than 74 as some of my forces are still engaging Ulm and are thus at a distance from the front, and I beleive Ermor is similarly finishing up with R'lyeh's 3 provinces.

Yes, Lingchih, seeing as I'm last in the score graphs, I know who you'll be attacking first!

But of course I am sure you will do as you wish, it is just a recommendation.

I would appreciate that as well, since if hostilities are to commence next turn I would probably want to change the turn file I've already sent in, and that means going across town to computer #2!

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running

Very well, hostilities occur on turn 75. I will make note of it.

That gives me a turn to equip my new Demon Lord. Nice.

Inredible.

Thanks Sept, for such a fun and heart-pounding turn. Battles galore, and I even lost some of them! (Damn that Ice Devil getting himself killed. He berserked!)

Well, the battles have just begun. May there be many more glorious battles to witness. I can't believe I lost the one battle I thought I was sure to win, with three unique blood summons in the fight. Your force there though, was impressive.

Well done. Let's do it again ;)

That was a hell of a lot of work, positioning all those troops and scripting all those commanders took forever. Wheh! Now go bother someone else.:)

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running

Hehe, now you know what the end game is like. It is not fun. It's a lot of work. Though the rewards are worth it.

And, oh, that was just battle version 1. Battle version 2 comes up this turn. It's important to vary your attacks.

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running

Ahh, great battles again Sept. This game has gone from boring to a blast in just a few turns.

I believe I got the best of you this turn, though it was close. You have two of my castles sieged, but I took one of your castles and a prov.

Of course, you also took two mighty artifacts from me, so it might be a tossup. That's two Ice Devils killed now in fights with you... I think I might lay off the Ice Devils in the future.

Meh, I've heard many people say that, but then I turn around and they're right back on the wagon. With the Ice Devils, that is.

Yeah, + 2, -3, for a net loss of 1. Your wearing me down. Wonder where my allies are? Would be nice if I had some help...

I dunno. Perhaps they are afraid of me? Armies are being kept on all fronts though, in case they suddenly decide to attack me. If I had some assurance that they would not attack me, then all my armies would pour down on you, Sept.

Lingchih May 24th, 2009 11:43 PM

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running

Another nice turn Sept. Some more great battles... I won a few, and lost a few. I have to say you are putting up a hell of a defence.

I believe, as you say, that I am wearing you down though. My actual armies are now heading down to meet you. That was my vanguard that has been attacking you. You might want to call in some favors, if you can.

Thanks for the Aegis back. I was missing it.

You know, Sept, your PD does not matter at all to me now. I would quit spending on it.

Most of the PD spending took place early on. I was sorta hoping the giant PD would at least inflict a few casualities as you sweep accross my lands. It is time to recall whatever I've left for a defense of the capital. I suspect the other players are waiting it out, a mistake in my opinion, as you should be attacked when you are at your weakest.

At my weakest? I beg to differ. I am at my strongest. I have armies set to defend against both Arco and Ermor, if they should attack me. I am sending, perhaps, 1/2 of my forces against you. But it appears that should be enough.

That said though, you have played great, Sept. All of the battles have been highly entertaining, and close.

In fact, this has been, lately, one of the most fun games I have been in.

That's 1/2 that won't be immediately available at the other fronts. That's what I meant by weakest.

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running

Jeez, the hall of fame in this game looks like the national cemetary.

Sept, some advice. Destroy your labs when you see I am about to take a castle. That's 500 free gold for me, and a working lab, when you leave it intact.

Lingchih June 3rd, 2009 12:50 AM

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running

Man, there are some formidable armies building up. I hope they are not meant for me.

I think the Emror/Arco war is about to happen.

And, turn is almost up Sept. I hope you get yours in.

Lingchih June 3rd, 2009 08:48 AM

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running

Hmm. The Ermor/Arco war has so far failed to materialize, but now Arco is attacking me. Well, good luck Arco... I am not exactly defenseless in your neck of the woods.

SteelyDan June 3rd, 2009 08:04 PM

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running

I wouldn't want you to be defenceless Lingchih... that would force you to be innovative in your defence! I like your soldiers just the way they are :)

Lingchih June 4th, 2009 10:03 PM

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running

I am not exactly Offenceless, either, steely.

And, I don't really have to innovate with my defense. When you can just bullrush someone, bullrush them. Makes for easier turns.

Lingchih June 5th, 2009 09:31 PM

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running

Another great turn. Very entertaining. This is good fun, eh guys?

Ack!. What happened to my Purgatory? Dammit.

Lingchih June 6th, 2009 01:41 AM

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running

OK. Here comes the beast. I would suggest setting your patrols to maximum.

And Arco? Damn, how in the world to do you think you can take me? Seems like suicide to me.

BTW, I am playing this game with wild abandon. Since I am the supposed Vet. I am just throwing it all out there. It's quite different from my normal play style.

Septimius Severus June 6th, 2009 01:51 AM

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running

Hmm, those Tartarians of yours, lotta HP's, but aside from that I don't see what is so special about them. Not really magic using, not many effects aside from fear and a few others.

Thatta boy Arco!

Lingchih June 6th, 2009 01:59 AM

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running

Those are my reject Tarts. They are the ones that come in feeble-minded. Not much use for them but to send them into battle.

SteelyDan June 8th, 2009 12:38 AM

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running

Hate to say this, but I think I'm gonna need a 24hr delay. Looks like I'm going to be stuck on the other side of town tomorrow, and it's a fairly important turn!

Lingchih June 8th, 2009 02:08 AM
