Nice soul slay spam Stretch. I was banking on you not having it yet. Time to change tactics.

Thanks! I'm glad that one worked. It took some effort to get ready in time.

Sensori will be taking over guidance of Fomoria. Perhaps an extension on 52 to give him an opportunity to settle in?

Sensori November 25th, 2009 03:38 PM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Yes, that would be nice. :P I would also have to get more info on the situation of the WOOOORLD, too!

But yeah, I will be taking over Fomoria. I'm a bit rusty, so be gentle! And I'd like to know of any NAPs I might be having with folks!

Burnsaber November 26th, 2009 04:27 AM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Sensori has been set as the new ruler of Fomoria. I have also extended the turn a bit to give him time to blend into the crowd.

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

So, uh... What mod is "SingleAgeComplete.dm"? And where do I get it?

And why does this game require it anyway.

EDIT: I found it. :P

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Why DOES it? I'm not sure, I have the feeling I knew at one point and it was related to the UWGIM mod.

Burnsaber could probably give a more complete explanation, but the reason is as follows:

Oceania and Atlantis (and maybe Rlyeh) have new recruits in coastal fortresses only. This isn't actually a moddable quality, so what he did is copied the nations that had such capability (eg, MA Rlyeh), and then replaced all its units with the units for the appropriate nations (Atlantis, Oceania respectively) with the new coastal recruits replacing MA Rlyeh's coastal recruits.

Of course, this requires MA Rlyeh be available in EA, thus SingleAgeComplete.

So all the giant monsters in the world have united against Ulm?
And those cowards still run when not outnumbering us 1000 to 1.

Bah, your forces aren't doing that much better, now are they!

Illuminated One December 1st, 2009 09:25 PM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Well, castle storming has never been my speciality. And the 25+ gems that rain down on me in form of remotes every turn aren't making them more easy.

Btw.
Atlantis, bring it on!
Whilst your allies are wasting precious resources with the sole purpose of destroying us, risking and loosing SCs and thugs all that your forces dare are to attack 30 lone mermen. We laugh at your cowardice and the foolishness of your allies, we know who will reap the spoils of war once they are worn down. Upon the walls of our castle we stand with torn armor and chipped swords and challenge you! Steel judges the worthy, not the tongue.

rdonj December 1st, 2009 09:38 PM

Torn armor and chipped swords? Most of your forces are vinemen! Heh.

I'll come when i'm ready and not a moment sooner. Moving forces around under water is *slow*.

You're of course welcome to try to return to the sea.

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

You have 15 basalt kings next to us and are still not ready?
Well, as I said there's some people paying for the war and one reaping the spoils.

Squirrelloid December 2nd, 2009 05:46 PM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Patience, they'll be there soon enough.

Relatedly, since you're so excited to have me attack you, that must mean you have some dirty trick up your sleeve to repulse me. Losing 15BKs would be disastrous.

Illuminated One December 2nd, 2009 08:02 PM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

That's clever letting your allies run into the dirty tricks first.

The Fomorian Kings would like to thank the Ulmish horde for this nice hat which allows charming. It was indeed a nice gift!

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Well! It would seem that 2/3 of the vast, yet incomprehensibly poor nation of tir na nog is under demonic monkey control. I was preparing for war with you anyway since I'm probably closest materially to being your "competitor", but I guess you forced my hand. Let the scripting nightmares begin!

To the rest of the world: I have no idea whether I can defeat the juggernaut that is lanka. If, in the next two or three turns lanka has not suffered major defeats on the field, I will pretty much be toast and lanka will be well on the way to winning the game.

Let me rephrase that. If, within 3 turns, I do not have most of my territory back under my control, lanka WIlL WIN the game unless all of you IMMEDIATELY join together and smash him before he conquers me (much like most of the world is doing to ulm right now). This is not a cry for help, this is a heads up. So pay close attention to the next few turns and be ready to show lanka that you're not ready to throw in the towel just yet.

This has been a public service announcement. And remember, the only good demon monkeys are dead demon monkeys.

Isokron December 7th, 2009 03:40 PM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Lanka agrees completely, that's why our armies only contains (un)dead monkeys and demons. Now if we only could do the same with our PD.

rdonj December 9th, 2009 02:00 AM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Upon further review, lanka is actually very close to meeting the game's victory conditions. If I lose both my capitols to him, he will be only one capitol away from winning the game. He's a lot closer to winning than even I thought. Since he now has two very large armies sitting outside my capitol and I did basically no real damage to him this turn (except maybe to his blood economy...), the chances of me fighting him back are becoming vanishingly small.

It looks like this game is nearly over.

Lingchih December 9th, 2009 02:49 AM

A Private could win the game. You should all be ashamed of yourselves (me included)

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Was that the Horror Harmonica (sorry, couldn't identify all your commanders amidst that sea of vine men).

That combat was hilarious. I am confused why one of my groups of LPs broke on turn 2 - even with your morale-killer spell my morale was still really high.

Illuminated One December 9th, 2009 06:48 PM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Yes.
You routed so fast?
I get a battle bug and the game crashes once the horrors start flying. I'm still amazed how all your mages made their runaway but then I managed to cast antimagic twice and horror mark once.
Really a shame that battle was the only one I've been looking forward too.

Squirrelloid December 9th, 2009 11:47 PM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Half my army (troops) breaks on turn 2. The other half kills a bunch of stuff (probably half of your losses) while you're distracted by horrors. My mages and the remainder of my army don't break until turns i think, it was a long time.

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Could I please have an extension? I can't see any way I'm going to get the turn in until later today, and I fear I'll miss the deadline. Even something like an 8 hour extension would probably enough, it is just that the turn seems to want to host at just about the time I'll be able to look at my turn again.

Geez, lanka, stop buying so much pd! Stupid monkeys keep auto routing your thugs :(. The sidhe demand demon blood on their swords!

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

I think the only thing you need to be ashamed of is all ganging up on the poor little private, especially Lingchih who broke a nap to do it. Well I guess I will have to do my best to take Niefel with me if I go down, and probably hand Rlyeh an easy victory in the process.

And Rdonj, come out and fight in your capital if you want demon blood.

rdonj December 12th, 2009 07:55 AM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Bah, there's hardly even any demons at the capitol. So many undead to carve my way through to get to them. And by the time I get there, they'll have auto-routed again :P

Well, the theme of the game was sneaky, shifty, NAP breaking. If you look back to the original post. Pretty much the only reason I did it. I usually hold to NAPs.

Oh! this has become a fun game again!

I have 30A, 10W, 10D, 20N for sale. I need gold, blood slaves, sanguine dousing rods, or other magic items that we can discuss via PM. Please PM offers.

Isokron December 13th, 2009 12:43 PM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Since it seems like world oppinion wont let me keep my hard earned territories I will let rlyeh, mictlan, niefel divide the part west of the tiranog capital (which unfortunately for me includes all 4 of his magic bonus sites) while I will defend my territory east of it. If anyone is interested in peace along those lines please get in touch.

Oh and if there drops in an angry demon woman with fancy equipment in one of your territories please dont see it as an act of war but as a failure to read a basic spacetime map.

rdonj December 13th, 2009 05:07 PM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Well, tir na nog is on its way out. The army of moose holding my capitol walls up will only be able to keep lanka out for so long, and then my cap is going down. Given what I've seen, he is still by far in the best position to win. I urge you all to continue fighting the lankan behemoth, lest it claim you as well. If lanka can drop in on another unsuspecting person and gobble them up, I don't think there'll be any hope of stopping them before they can take the few more capitols they need to win.

On a side note, this map has some serious issues. The entire western portion of the map (mine, niefel's and mictlan's territories) were cash starved to the point of absurdity. Even with one of the largest nations in the game, my income was so poor I could barely afford 2 mages on the best of turns, and for much of the game I could only afford to buy one mage a turn - and that was it. The vast majority of my units are moose, and have been since the war with niefelheim where I lost the vast majority of my tuatha. And it's not like I'm playing with really crappy scales either.

Meanwhile every province I've taken from ulm and lanka has 8000 plus population. :( I know with ulm this is partly because of his growth scale, but given the size of his nation and what his income used to be, I'm pretty sure that was not all of it.

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

You should probably protect that Ice Devil a little better, Lanka. He has some nice gear on him, which my Jarls would love to loot. Sorry about that sucking chest wound on him now.

Lingchih December 14th, 2009 10:08 PM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Sorry, meant Arch Devil. Just re-watched the battle. I guess I had ice devils on my mind, since that seems to be about the only blood summons you don't have!

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Ok, the holiday season is upon us and hence I've been thinking. I was thinking of temporarily moving to a very lenient hosting (like 96h) for the holiday week (20th-27th day). Quickhost will still be on, in case people want to keep the game moving.

Unless I hear any big objections, I'll set the new hosting to take place sunday.

I have no objection.

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Well, I'm going to be away over christmas, so this won't be enough.
I don't mind getting a sub. Of course the easiest solution is that you all leave Lanka alone and finally conquer me.

Isokron December 17th, 2009 01:53 PM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

I wouldnt object to a longer hosting period during christmas.

PS: Really Rlyeh isnt those mindlords+items a bit expensive to lose to a few points of monkey PD :)

Burnsaber December 17th, 2009 02:17 PM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Illuminated One, we could just go ahead and put the game on hiatus, it's probably not worth it to get a sub for the few turns we *might* manage to play.

Yeah, I forgot to script them. Sucks to be me, I guess.

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Holy cow, Lanka, what the heck is your blood income? I just killed off about 300 slaves worth of unique summons, and I don't even think it made you blink! And, you have 133 slave cost Mandehas all over the map. I'm not sure I have ever even seen this amount of blood summons in a game.

Those Mandehas will be the key for you. Hard to counter natural darkness, along with all your other buffs.

Isokron December 19th, 2009 02:57 PM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

How do you know I didn't blink, maybe I even cried for the poor devils killed by evil Niefel giants who had no business being there. Well I guess they might be back sooner or later to take revenge.

Stretch December 19th, 2009 03:15 PM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

The Mictlan Priests have decreed a thousand lifetimes of pain for the undead scum that have killed several of their number, including the great King of Legends. That which is already dead can indeed die again, but it can also suffer untold agonies that a mortal cannot even dream of.

Hmm. I totally forgot what was going on in this game. Oh yeah, now I remember. Lanka was killing us all. Ahh well, back to the grindstone.

rdonj December 29th, 2009 12:13 AM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

Yeah, I'm going to have to look back through old PMs to try to figure out what the hell I was doing. Hopefully it did not involve my dying.

Stretch December 29th, 2009 03:01 AM

Re: The Early Days. Game running.

If your plans do not involve you dying then you'd better find a way for a moose to kill a Mandeha, and quick...
