All players can reguest for a free boon before the next ordeal starts on turn 77. This reguest can be a "specific" one and it counts for your boon for this ordeal.

The effects of the boon are increased according to how much favour you in the eyes of the Pantokrator. So the effects are increased by (remaining boons) x 10%. So, for example, if you have 5 boons remaining, the effects of this boon (gems, items, amount of info, whatever) are increased by 50%

Re: Legendary Ordeals

Okay guys, I've recently worked on LO II stuff and it seems that I could start it pretty soon. While this game is really nearing completion, I have seriously no clue how or when the victor will emerge. So I migth just start LOII while the old one is still running. But there are somethings I'd like to hear feedback about before I make the game. If you don't feel like replying here in the fear that you might give out some important info, you can PM me with your thougths.

What I'd like to hear about is boons. Should they do more stuff? Are they too plentiful, or too perhaps too rare? Is one type of boons way better than others? I'll likely make players know the exact amount of boons they have in the next game. I originally had it be secret to keep a sort of mystery to it, but it seems that people are a bit too scared to use their boons at the moment me thinks.

Second thing is the Ordeals themselves. Which ones did you like? Which ones did you not like? Were they coming in too often? Have any ideas of your own? (I'd be glad to hear them).

I'd also love to hear feedback about anything you feel was odd with this game. But there are some things I have recognized as mistakes and will fix myself, just to avoid unnecessary reports on the subject I'll list the things below:

FIXES FOR LOII:

-> Better map (no more "gangbang island" in the south-east corner)

-> No conquest point for arena (really didn't work out like I thought it would)

-> Divine Eyes a bit harder to find

Sorry, I keep finding your divine eyes, I am actually constantly patrolling for other reasons, 1 major one and 1 minor one.

Re: Legendary Ordeals

I would say the ordeals you could do something about like units wandering about or the four horsemen attack one province after another was the most fun. The random rituals etc was mostly irritating esp when they killed my blood hunters.

Maybe do something more with the slumbering elder plotline, like having a personal ordeal from them also that is introduced some way into the game, which if completed would yield a special boon that could be used to spawn some unit/army in a specified province that would then move around randomly until defeated.

Re: Legendary Ordeals

One problem that is probably irritating is the nerf of mind hunt as a consequence of Pantokrator divine eyes everywhere. Probably, nothing can be done with that but it would be ideal to, say, give, stone spheres and monthly cast Astral Windows. This, of course, would spam turn reports greatly but it would be much better for gameplay, IMO

Yeah, in hindsight I could have handled that a ritual ordeal lot better, like give warnings about the events so that people could dodge them to make it more interactive.

Yeah, I didn't realize it unitl late into this game. I have done a small update to the mod that should make this a bit less painful (divine eyes now have 1 mr, so they basically pop on a single hit). If one dies, I can just wait for a couple of turns and then replace it once the astral artillery has died out.

Re: Legendary Ordeals

Does mindhunt target mindless units ? Otherwise you might be able to make them that.

ano July 13th, 2010 03:59 PM

Re: Legendary Ordeals

Good point regarding mindlessness, Isokron, I didn't think of it.
Also, if somebody casts Wrath of God these Divine Eyes will go down pretty soon in the caster's Dominion. To avoid this they need to have a lot of HP

Good point about WoG. They already had a ton of hp (i was thinking mostly about being armageddon proof), but I also gave them 100% lighting res, that should make them immune to WoG.

On other news, Legendary Ordeals II is up.

See the thread here

The Gates of Tartarus are now open.

Those of you who stand on the ruins of former empires, fear. Fear deeply, for the last owners of those mighty kingdoms are coming back from their torments in tartarus.

And they are not pleased.

->

After this turn, every month one fallen god will escape from tartarus with a host of servants and attemp to recapture their old capital. The fallen gods will teleport through various mean to 3 provinces away from their old cap and move to recapture it.

Their motivations are in following order:

1. Capture their old capital
if that is not possible:
2. Spite the nation responsible for their fall (pillaging, raiding)
if that is not possible:
3. Spite the nation currently in control of "their" cap.

The gods come from tartarus in a random order and if a player is defeated before this ordeal is over, that nation will also join the list of fallen gods (moment in this realm is a eternity in tartarus).

I now seems to control 5 capitals so should I just sit tight and wait for 3 turns ?

Well, that is kind of crude to way to put it, but yes.

Usually a concensus is reached before the full 3 turns pass. It mostly depends on if any of the players has a plan to take a cap from you.

I can't see anyway, I can take a capital off Lanka, so unless someone else can, its pointless doing the next 3 turns.

May as well declare Lanka the winner, unless anyone else objects?

Re: Legendary Ordeals

I've been doing nothing but defending my cap for many turns, so whatever the group decides.

Re: Legendary Ordeals

I'd like to hear from kianduatha first before calling the game, he might have something (I doubt it though). But this is kinda a big deal, so I want to cover all bases.

Also, we just need one player for a underwation nation in the Legendary Ordeals II. This is a last chance to join :D.

kianduatha July 20th, 2010 05:06 PM

Re: Legendary Ordeals

Ah, no, I've got nothing. Magicless gimmick pretenders generally don't lead to terribly good lategames. Also I cannot comprehend how Lanka got such a ridiculously high bless, good grief.

I thus grant Bifrons the divine voice and limitless power befitting of his new status as the ultimate ruler of this realm!

Bifrons, your first choice as the divine and rightful ruler of this realm is to decide what to do with your former competition. Do you want to spare them and make them your celestial servants or do you wish to throw them into the depths of Tartarus?

->

Isokron won the game. Congratulations! He should feel free to gloat using the "Pantokrator Voice" (just quote this post for the forum code). He can now choose to either throw the other pretenders into the Tartarus or spare and make them lesser gods in his service (this has no other meaning beyond the RP aspect).

My pretender was an imprisoned master druid with dom7 f4w4e9s4d1n4b1 O3S3H3Mi2Ma1. Gives both a good bless and a rainbow.

Ok, the game is over. Many thanks to all parcipants. It was a fun ride!

As promised, here are the tables and other notes I had for the game. It also has most of my .trn files. All players in LO II should note though that I've done some updates to boon tables since these, so you can't count on them to give accurate information for LO II.

Re: Legendary Ordeals - Isokron Wins!

@ Isokron - Congratulations on the win. It also seems to be yet another very fine win you've chaulked up from what I can tell. You also seem to be developing this into some sort of regular habit :)

Out of curiosity, what was the last game you played in that you didn't win? The 'doomed from the start' Legends of Faerun game is the last I can think of.
Calahan moves Isokron up two places to 2nd behind Micah on his 'bloody damn good players' list.
Well done Isokron, You annhilated me very early in the game as Pan....I just had nothing to stop your sacreds, while at the time I thought what a waste of a gme/I screwed up...I now see it as a learning experience, so thankyou ; )

Thats a really interesting file Burnsaber, wish I had the discipline to do that sort of things with my games.

Calahan: Last game lost, probably Setsumi. Although I have been lucky lately, normally I lose more games than I win.
