Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
Yeah, well sending gems to the wrong person is a honest mistake. Only fair to send them back.
Now, if you forget to script your troops it is your own fault :D |
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
o_O
mistake like that could be perceived as a random event of any sort. those shipments would get lost anyway every now and then for a reason or another so why not play accordingly. I indeed embrace fairplay my self, but taking advantage of a clear strategic mistake aint an exploit. you guys are amazingly noble, thou! |
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
I think people would complain if the next Dominions Patch added a random luck event that could redirect the gems and items you send to an alternate destination.
It was not a strategic mistake because sending gems to Soyweiser was not part of his strategy. Misdirected messages can't even be counted as carelessness like not scripting your troops would be. Absolutely everyone makes mistakes, a careful person double checks, but that isn't possible with messages. I would consider it a meta-game User-Interface issue, therefore sending the gems back was the correct thing to do. |
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
Yeah since you cant even check a message you've set to be sent your only real choice to redo it is redo your entire turn from scratch if your unsure.. not the greatest UI design but there you go..
|
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
Also, sometimes when you alt tab out, with a typed message (but unsend) in the message screen, it just deletes the whole message. Great UI :D.
|
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
UI development might have been better there but it is indeed a strategic mistake if one _lacks situational awereness_ on to whom he/shes is sending such a delivery. this is (the simplest form of) risk management: if you feel uncertain of what you did you can always redo your turn. On the other hand, if you r sure you did the right thing (or unsure that you did but lazy to make sure of it by playing the turn again) you go forth and send the 2h-file. the outcome is on you.
everyone makes mistakes, no argue on that - however there are more drastic mistakes done on regular basis, and no compensation received for them. being sloppy is being sloppy, theres no shame in winning a game, battle or war because your enemy is one. mistake causing a (major) default is strategic - from the perspective of the one who gains, at least. enemy, in a game and in a real life, is free to take advantage of it. but like I said, very noble, indeed. The only thing I personally would have sent back is a thank you -note being assured that nex time the sender pays more attention on what hes doing. Of course, I would be happy to sell them back with discount.........maybe. |
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
this made me think...if possible...
how do you guys perceive, say, spreading mis/false information in order to gain advantage in a MP game? or any other forms of ruses? scenario: I send a falsefied message to thirdparty, making it to look like it was a part of the plan to attack the thirdparty and received by him because of a simple misclick? a forged Zimmerman telegram, if you get my point, to make other people fight each other for your gain. there are other ruses too, but this one came to my mind? this is maybe the purest form of Macchiavellian diplomacy, so it is ok! (right?) So far I have been in understandig it would be ok, in every MP TBS game, from Civ to Winplan to Dom, but now I became suspicious. |
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
Well, I have used variants of those kinds of messages in a different game. (Firststeps, was filled with all kinds of devious diplo, convincing one nation I spoke for more than myself etc. Somebody putting up a global he heard I would approve of. I didn't. etc :D).
But certain mistakes are just common errors. I tend to be rather friendly about those things as I know how easy it is to make a mistake with the not so friendly UI. (And doing a turn all over again SUCKS. had to do it once in the late game in one game because I ****ed up with a cursed arti. Not much fun). I try to be noble. Not all the time of course, but within reasonable bounds. And I doubt that the 50 air gems can win me the game :D. And anybody who is still dealing with Ermor at this phase in the game deserves what is coming to them. :D |
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
I forgot. To the player who send me the items. Thanks! They will help a lot.
:D (To obvious?) |
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
Well maybe i did this to let you think i have an ally !
So if you are suspicious on some1 you will prolly attack him while he could have been of some help against me ;) Well it s maybe a little twisted ... The 50A was prolly only a mistake ^^ |
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
Send them further on to me pls ... i was the intended reciever of the items! (Btw what items exactly) :D :D :D
|
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
Lol Herbi, It s very courageous to declare yourself.
|
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
Ah ... Bullock was just 1 Minute to fast with his reply to Soyweiser ... i was talking about sending the items back to me, not any gems!
|
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
Whats wrong with the blody server?
|
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
Damn i don't know =( i have sent a mp to llama 12h ago but didn't help.
i hope this will be solved soon, i can't wait to see the next turn :) |
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
Any news from the server or admins jet?
|
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
Not really. Just be patient.
|
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
Well, the game is back on track with the server.
I was wondering why, in our fight Soyweiser, my friendly current didn't help me ? Because you had one already on ? That cost me a lot of mages =( |
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
I don't know actually. Ask at the other forum. One of the more experienced players might know that.
And I'm happy that I finally killed a few of your mages, it is still 40 : 10 or something ;). |
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
40:10 ? lol i had in mind something closer to 20:20 ^^
Btw did i killed any good mages with my mind hunt of the 3 or 4 previous turns ? i m planning to stop cause it s getting costly :) But if you tell me it s efficient i ll spend more in it. |
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
Bullock, isn't it getting costly using mindhunt against my astral mages?
|
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
Hehe no in your case it s free :)
|
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
Mostly h2 priests.
|
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
This turn I did lose one mage. But the frigging gui does not tell me which one.
And hello desperation move. Ermor, I'm at your cap, killing your dudes. |
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)

And hello desperation move. Ermor, I'm at your cap, killing your dudes. Edit: Doh moment, moving a undead unit to one high level nature mage, only to remember that GoR doesn't work on undead anymore :D. |
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
Strange. I thought astral mages had a high chance of detecting mages casting Mind Hunt and feebleminding them... Since I have a large number of astral mages, shouldn't your mages be suffering a lot of backlash?

Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
I can t believe it ... i have lost the game ... how is that possible you can turn a lvl 9-10 dom from a cap !! to 0
in one turn ... that is just not fun. I thought the maximum change in a turn was 1 or maybe 2 ... but not 10 lol ... I also can't believe how the spell undead mastery is efficient, despite my magic res. (spell, dom & priest buff) You have turned everything to your side: troops, commanders, even tartarians... this spell is way too strong... Finally you finished the battle with 300 more troops and not only shaff! which means by casting the spell 2 times you prolly got 70% of my troops including commanders. I have lost all my best mages and commanders due to the high rate of switching undeads from your damn spell and with the very few remaining almost instant killed by the surrounding troops and their body guards. So to keep others informed : Atlantis managed to cut Ermor's head one shot, helped by the crazy undead mastery and by massive preaching in a turn at my cap. I ve lost my pretender with his global enchants and will lose my cap next turn. There is no way for me to take it back later since i have only my shaff left which will only make his ranks bigger. i ve lost 90% of my best mages and will lost my D gems income from the well and my cap. Which means with the so low 10D gems incomes i get from my territories (this damn low income has been also a pain all the game long) i need 2 turns to produce 1 mage... I guess with such combo with an Ermor costal cap, especially with such a low D income for Ermor, they were no way for me to win in late game against you. Now the only sure things is i can't win anymore. My new objective is then to not let Atlantis Win this game, so i'm willing to help anyone who will turn against Soyweiser. (mostly gems i guess since i cant use them anymore) Do i have to remind you that he s the only vet in position of winning ? @ Jomon : You are the only one i can reach with my troops (unless some others want to grab my dead lands), so if you still go after me i will send waves of undeads and take your lands and will give them to anyone willing to help against Atlantis or, in the worst case, pillage them. (and i m almost sure i can take 90 % of your lands by sending massive bunch of shaff everywhere, especially now that i will leave behind all idea of defence) In the other hand i think if you turn now against atlantis there is a high probability that u win this game (if you manage to beat Atlantis which is not done even with the help of Bogarus & Abysia) . I hope you will grab this good opportunity. |
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
Wow, have not looked at the turn yet. Basically what I did was ignore the manual and assume that level h1 priests can reduce dom9 down. (It was a gamble, I had a lot of them there, and they could not crack the fort, so it was a gamble). I did have a couple of h2 priests, but these also only get a small chance of preaching away dominion. That I was able to do it was an unexpected bonus. (And could be a bug, h1 priest vs dom 9 should have -5% chance of preaching away the dominion. But it could also be that the % chance is recalculated each time, so 2 h2 priests to put it down to dom 7, and then the massed other h1 priests to take it away. Ps, Dragonrider used the preaching away dominion trick against my forts a lot in bootcamp. I almost lost my vampire armies there).
The huge communion and undead mastery was my final master plan to stop you. I spend the last dunno 10 turns or so, setting that up, forging, researching (lich, undead mastery). Just to pull a turn 1 mastery. And I only moved the communion in this turn, so the destruction of the PD would not give you any indication it was a deadly attack). Also, I boosted undead mastery to the extreme. 32 slaves +6 magical path (so +3 penetration), lich was lvl 5 +1 for a gem, and had +4 penetration. Base magical save for undead mastery is 8 (it is easy after all). So any undead troops had to save against 15. Which is pretty nice against base mr 10 units. I hoped you would attack me so I would get defenders advantage. (else your troops would have had mr 14). Of course this was risky as hell, if it had failed you could have easily taken out my retreat routes and routed my army, killing everything. If a random attack had killed the lich, the whole plan would have failed. Etc etc etc. Of course, I would advise you not to dispair yet. The game is far from over. I basically used all my gems for this trick. (Basically the biggest gamble I ever took in any game. But I'm glad it paid off :D). But you still have around 7k of undead left. And they increase each turn. Remember I did use over 100 mages in that battle. It was my master plan. If it had failed, I would have probably conceded to you. Or at least known I could not win anymore. A well, glad to hear it turned out okey. :D |
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
Also, I hoped that if the undead mastery failed, the 100+ cleansing water spammers would still stop most of your chaff.
|
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
Alright i havent paid enough attention to the fight and didn't notice the slave things. Maybe i wasn't prepared enough for that.
I should have invoc more non-undead stuff to defend my cap and maybe also bring more of indies mages. Btw i admit it was very well played. But i still remain very disappointed with the fall of my dom in 1 turn. I thought priest H1 were almost useless against dom10 and h2 not much better. But yes i m despaired ;) i ve no more mages (like 3 3D national mages remaining...) and will lose 90% of my gems income next turn.Without pretender i have a huge lack of power. it s obvious i can't win anymore and i m raging against my coastal cap. i hope the others will move fast and together against you ! |
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
Well the dominion drop suprissed me a lot too.
Just watched the battle. Wow... Only the golem did some damage. Ps: I enslaved the eater of the dead. But I did not get it. Weird... Yeah, coastal caps are very dangerous. One of the many reasons I went after R'lyeh first. Actually, you should always own all provinces next to your cap. |
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
Omg you cut the retreating road of all my remaining mages ... I hate you
I should have expected it ! :) |
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
I actually expected you to stay put in the fort. Why did you break siege? It only gave me defenders advantage again.
And cutting of the retreat routes was only natural after I counted the nr of SC's I had in that battle :D. Edit: and thanks for not wrecking the lab. |
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
Hey guys im going to be away from Wednesday 23:00 GMT through to Saturday 23:00 GMT.. so 3 days..
So im basically asking for around a 24 hour extension based on when the turn actually occurs. Let me know if its a problem.. since ive effectively been in my own world this game I think I could handle a stale.. Ill be contactable throughout but wont have access to Dom3. Cheers The Forger of all artefacts! |

No idea why i break the siege. @Agelian: sure i ll lengthen the turn. |
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
Well, I think us used the mage assistance during the battles rather well. Casting wailing winds and shadow blasts worked pretty well. So, you are not that noobish. You gave me ideas if I ever play Ermor myself. :D.
|
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
I'll be traveling (and without internet access) for the next couple days. I'd appreciate it if we could delay the next turn by 48 hours.
|
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
sure, it s done
|
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
I have 14 lightless lanterns and 4[sorry 5] skull mentors if anyone wants to offer something for them :D
|
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
I think I could take some of those of your hands. What do you want for them? Gold? :D
Edit: The lets try to teach the noobs part of me is forcing me to tell this: Offering me anything is a rather bad idea atm. I'm currently winning, and getting gift of natures bounty up as a nation who leads in provinces is usually a reason to banding together to try and kill me. Especially when I'm still tied up with killing the rest of ermor. (Just don't try to use undead, purgatory will probably kill those ;) ). Just pooling gems for dispels would be smart. Or if nobody wants to band together, try to kill one of your weaker neighbours. |
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
there isnt much I can do with gold at this stage of the game.. I guess an offer of gems is would be best :D
|
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
Gems also okey? Sadly I lack fire gems, but I could offer 20 dgems for the 5 skull mentors.
Edit: and don't underestimate Ermor btw. I might have killed his cap, and took out a lot of his mages, but he is still one of the strongest nations. A nation going from, I can probably win to, I'm going to wreck as much as possible. Is a horrible thing to fight. I'm happy that ermor and me only share a sea border :D. (Or used to share only a sea border :D). |

Btw i put 40 gems of any color for your research stuff Agelian. ( i need only few lanterns though) |
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
I only have the earth and water kings/queens, and one of the air ones.
|
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
yeah that s why i said almost :)
You have also dudes like the one with 4f 4d king of banefire or something like that. Anyway i don't need to convince other since they are already :) |
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
Anthrax died actually. No retreat routes.
|
Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
40 gems is sounding like the goods :) ill take fire if you have them :D let me know how many lanterns you want
