Re: MAPS!
The one thing I really wish that Google earth (or any of these other mapping sites) had would be an option to display contour lines as an overlay.

Re: MAPS!
The University of Texas Perry-Castañeda Library has a number of maps world wide, some military reference with contour lines.

While toying around with some scenario designs, I created a 160x160 map of Keuruu, Finland. It turned out pretty OK so I decided to share it.
The map is a mix of dense uninhabited woods, a small town of roughly 10 000 inhabitants and large bodies of water. Best suited for scenario design or human vs human battles, as the computer tends to get confused with the large lakes restricting movement. Occupies map slot 325. - Koh |
Re: MAPS!
I've used this for my MRR, I thought it might be of some use here for you design types. It covers the U.S. but you might find other areas from this site.

Re: MAPS!
Google maps does show contours just not that clearly, select map then terrain. Dead hard to see though unless you zoom in.

Re: MAPS!
What I really wish there was in Google maps, is a tool to overlay a 1KM grid over the map, starting at some arbitrary point chosen by the user.
(It had some sort of lat and long grid as I recall last time I checked, but that is useless for scenario design) Andy |
