So, they're still around. They must be doing something right to continue to survive... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/confused.gif

I always appreciate when a larger business admits to a stupid mistake. It's much better than passing the buck.

In terms of speed I'm not going to cry over 0.1 Ghz.

All I know is any computer company needs competition to keep prices down or you get the ridiculous prices of software such as Windows.....

Yeah, man, $180 for the most expensive version is just too much to handle... Not to mention $110 for the version people actually need for home use. You want to talk about ridiculous, look at Photoshop, Quickbooks, any commercial rendering software...

Because, of course, two to five times the cost of one single game for a whole operating system is absolutely horrible.

Remind me to order a few "I heart Microsoft" t-shirts.... geesh.

What's sad is the price on the old XP Home Edition w/SP2[/url] http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16837116193 $195. for the retail version! You don't think they are capitalizing on the marketing scheme of selling Vista and having everyone wanting XP? Another great marketing scheme even though it happened by mistake as Mickeysoft thought they were going to make a killing on Vista.

Re: OT: Building a new computer...

The XP Home OEM version is only $90 though. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif Interstingly, there is a $20 price difference between XP Home Retail and Vista Home Premium Retail, just the same as between the OEM copies. Arbitrary price points, ahoy!

Of course, buying XP Home is like stabbing yourself in the eyes with a rusty nail, while being eaten alive by fire ants...

Re: OT: Building a new computer...

Fyron, you know that the OEM version gets no support from Microsoft with it? Thus the cheaper price! The version I linked to and yours are the same. If you want support you'll have to buy the more expensive one, if not go for the cheaper one.

Of course, running Vista is like stabbing yourself in the eyes with a rusty nail that you used when you bought XP, while being eaten alive by fire ants that were decendants of the ones from XP... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif

XP is not broke! Can't say the same for Vista. Vista does have Direct X10 abilities. OK, there you go... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/cool.gif
