Re: CCCP vs NATO long campaign (1948-1991)

Hi,

Youre right Aeraaa, but it's worst with USA.

New battle:

Location: France;
Date: 1949/04;
Enemy: France;
Mission: Meeting;
Visibility: 25;
Turns: 90;

Unfortunatly, I forgot to take a screen at the begining...

So here the battle front at turn 5, the first contatct:

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...PT504-1948.jpg

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...T5B04-1948.jpg

My plan was:

In north: 1 INF platoon, 1 7.62mm MG, 1 85mm AT gun and 1 T-35/85 BTU defend the bridge.

In south: 3 RECCE section, 2 INF platoons, 2 7.62mm MG, 1 T-34/85 MP and 4 IS-3 will cross the bridge and split after.

The first group will follow the east-west dirt road to the hill, the other, to the north to size objectives points.

***

TURN 5:

First contact with RECCE elements (M8 Greyhound) of french forces in the south; we losse 1 RECCE section.

First contact with light tanks (M5A1 stuart) in the north; main french forces will go there?

French artillery start firing near the bridge and we losse a truck; soviets soldiers take cover.

Thats a good start for french army...

Thank you,

Hi,

Turn 6-16:

In south, everything is quiet now, forces are moving.

In north, french forces reccon in force with many M5A1; with only 1 AT gun and 1 tank, it will not be easy.

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...PT704-1948.jpg

Our veterans, with the help of the T-34/85 BTU, destroy, not without victims, the small groups in fierce figth.

In south, first enemy tank is meet (What a strange tank that ARL 44!); Our T-34/85 back off and Our IS-3 move foward.

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...PT904-1948.jpg

We must capture the hill. It will be done soon...

Unfortunatly, french infantry is showing up and soviet forces have to do a tactical reatreat.

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...T1604-1948.jpg

Soviet artillery is concentrating is power against that humain wave. Soviet soldiers fight hard and few of them are lost in the village.

What a great game!

Thank you,

Hi,

Turn 17-29

In the north, french open a second front with infantries and M16s.

French have, this time, a good AA umbrella (40mm guns and many M16s); my recce plane must stay at home...

Soviet decide, despite this threat, to sent their Il-10s against the french 81 mm mortars.

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...T2604-1949.jpg

In the south, the situation become critical:

Nothing stop the frenchs, and soviet forces loose many mens. French take back the hill...

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...T2904-1949.jpg

Hopefully, our Il-10 drop their bombs and destroy almost every mortars. Our big 152mm guns cant now fire non-stop.

Soviet decide to do a raid behind enemy lines; the T-34 BTU will move and destroy the M-16s on the hill.

That game is the best I ever played against the computer!

Thank you,

Hi,

Turn 30-FINISH

The raid is a real success! No more M16...

French are confused; small groups fight everywhere.

Soon, they begin to loose ground and soviets move foward.

In the south, new ARL44s are met!? Is it their reserves?

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...T4804-1949.jpg

In the north, the fight was hard. Soviets are exhausted but the hill is taked back.

Few turns later, every french units are retreating, every mortar or AA guns are down... We won!

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...CPF04-1949.jpg

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...PSC04-1949.jpg

Wow, what a bad men ratio, for the french... I feel bad.

Thank you,

Hi,

New battle:

Location: Lueneburger Heide;
Date: 1949/07;
Enemy: Great Britain;
Mission: Assault;
Visibility: 20;
Turns: 90;

Air support:

1X RECCE Plane
3X Il-10

Here's the map:

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...CPC07-1949.jpg

Here's the soviet forces:

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...PSI07-1949.jpg

Soviets forces will follow the paved road to the west and turn to the south between the two rivers.

Woods are very dangerous and the central hill will give an advantage to the oposite forces.

We will prepare the terrain with our artillery and use the aviation to recon the terrain.

Thank you!

Re: CCCP vs NATO long campaign (1948-1991)

Hi,

Turn 1-5:

Soviet forces sent a RECCE plane:

In the SW, 2 Comet tanks were discovered; probably the reserve.

UK have few 40mm AA guns but we were unable to locate them...

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...PT107-1949.jpg

After few minutes, RECCE units started to move in the woods, followed by tanks and infantries.

The RECCE plane, who find a secure path, discovered few UK units.

The fight is eminent!

Re: CCCP vs NATO long campaign (1948-1991)

Hi,

Turn 6-20:

The fight started!

UK fired 3 inches mortars on soviet forces: few soldiers get hit.

Some infantry units are encountered but quickly eliminated by soviet forces.

Soon, engineers discovered few mines placed by the UK.

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...T1007-1949.jpg

Fighting in the wood is hard.

However, through judicious use of mortars, losses are limited to ten men; mostly RECCE units...

Unfortunatly, a IS-3 is immobilised during the fight.

UK mortars (smoke) are located. Soviet 122mm, 152mm and Il-10 are ordered.

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...T2007-1949.jpg

SURPRISE! 6 pdn AT guns fired at our tanks: T-34/85BTU and a IS-3 are dommaged.

Soviets halt their advance, order air support and bring some reinforcements to keep the ground.

Several UK units are in the center of the map and we dont want to be surrounded by them.

The RECCE plane, after several uses, is hit...

Thank you!

Re: CCCP vs NATO long campaign (1948-1991)

Hi,

Turn 21-35:

After a important shelling, Soviet reinforcements, with a IS-3, start to attack UK forces in the center of the map.

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...T2407-1949.jpg

At the beginning everything is easy but, UK forces defend themselves well; many soviet soldiers fall...

After several difficult confrontations, UK forces are defeated and Soviet forces turned west towards the mountain.

UK forces (tanks, infantries) started moving...

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...T3007-1949.jpg

Almost every soviets forces are massing near the bridges.

Few UK infantries, AA guns and tanks are there; soviet forces take defensive positions.

After heavy mortar shelling of the village and the help of Il-10s, soviet forces start moving.

The village is soon sized.

Re: CCCP vs NATO long campaign (1948-1991)

Hi,

Turn 36-END:

During subsequent rounds, some units are met and defeated quickly.

It is done, the game is won.

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...CPF07-1949.jpg

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...PSC07-1949.jpg

It was a good game but not so much dificult.

Uk forces were highly concentrated and well distributed in the woods near the main hill. However, the preparatory bombardment had weakened their resolve. Moreover, they terribly lack of effective anti-tank weapons; our IS-3 can do their work without concerns. Their anti-air coverage was light but good. The two 40mm cannons near the bridges have reduced the use of aviation and even destroyed my reconnaissance aircraft. It was more difficult to discover their artillery and destroy it with the excellent Il-10s. Unfortunately, they used their reserves very badly (Comet tanks) that could do damage rather than explode one after another stupidly.

Soviet really need a APC. The BTR-152 and BTR-40 will be very welcome in 1950. Trucks dont do the job. A SPA could be nice too... but I know I have to wait longer for that! About munition canisters, I have to change that fast, they only reammo the mortars now.

Thank you,

Re: CCCP vs NATO long campaign (1948-1991)

Hi,

Next battle:

Location: Fulda Gap;
Date: 1949/09;
Enemy: USA;
Mission: Meeting engagement;
Visibility: 25;
Turns: 90;

Air support:

1X RECCE Plane
3X Il-10

Here's the map:

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...CPC09-1949.jpg

Soviet forces:

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...PSI09-1949.jpg

The plan is simple:
1- Follow the paved road to conquer the biggest hill.

If the enemy is on the other hill:
2- Sent half soviet forces to destroy them

If not:
2- Move to the south-west and capture the small village.

Everything with the help of artillery and aviation as usual...

Thank you!
