Re: Rated Challenges Thread
As I am having more free time, I would like to get involved in yet another game, this time with a twist. It would be a modded game, either Pirates and Nomads or Proportions, so it would be slower than your average game. (Much slower in the case of Proportions) Both mods alter the game in various fields, and they are very enjoyable experiences, and... Oh, I digress, this wasn't an advertising thread.
I am definitively not an expert with any of these mods (as if I was a seasoned player with the vanilla game), so you do not need to be knowledgeable about them and there is no string attached to the offer. If you happen to be interested, feel free to decide on the other settings, as I have chosen the mod. So is there any brave soul willing to crush me in a more peculiar game? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif |
Re: Rated Challenges Thread
I'd take that challenge but you've got around 63 points on me..
|
Re: Rated Challenges Thread
Don't worry, I will fall quite a bit once Primitive beats me. (I don't exactly stand much of a chance now) But I will go up as soon as the 2vs2 game is taken into account though, thanks to Slynky assistance in this game.

Oh, I was talking about the other 2vs2 game, the one with Gecko and Belisarius, and not our current one Parabolize. I would never brag around until the Other Side has surrendered, and I will definitively not boast if I lose. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Re: Rated Challenges Thread
2 x 2 (Alneyan/Slynky -vs- Electrum/Parabolize) - 2404.0
Well, things are sorting out and the game looks even so far (1st place and 4th place -vs- 2nd place and 3rd place...averages out to 5 and 5). I always like these games though I know they can be a REAL nail-biter! Full-tech and all. What's good about this sort of game, besides being able to use things you never get to use in KOTH (for example) is the wide variety of choices. I have quite a variety of ship designs already! Win or lose, it's gonna be fun. Just don't forget, Parabolize, I have the unimaginable Alneyan with me...no telling what he might do...not as predictable with me and my satellites... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif . This is his first full-tech game and he's having a ball with all the toys to play with http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif . |
Re: Rated Challenges Thread
Oh, if I were Parabolize or Electrum, I would rather keep a close watch on Slynky, and merely await for my League to destroy her warships on her own, as I am the best player when it comes to losing battles which should be gained. If you are nice enough, I might even considering scouting what lies *inside* a Black Hole with half my war fleet.
I don't have that many toys to play with Slynky, and for once I don't even use my Infamous Light Carriers, and I do feel naked without my reseach powerhouse behind me. Besides this, not much is going on for the moment being, but I like it this way. Perhaps we should consider a mutual alliance for prosperity and... Erh, not so I guess. |
Re: Rated Challenges Thread
I think we are winning in expansion but I fear some huge fleet is coming to change that. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Re: Rated Challenges Thread
Since no one else seems to be doing it...
2 x 2 Challenge (full tech) - Alneyan/Slynky vs Electrum/Parabolize Year: 2405.5 2 turns now and blood has filled a few systems. The initial attack Last turn saw the fleet of Parabolize victorious but with sever losses. This game him an opening to our vulnerable systems...able to go on a rampage, so to speak. Then the ensuing turn, while he added ships to his armada, a counter attack took place in two other systems...the overwhelming victory belonging to Alneyan...who has two fleets in position for a "riot run". Despite the large ship losses, no point positions have been changed! Parabolize, lover of full-tech games, has remained in 1st place followed (closely?) by Alneyan. My pitiful self seems to be content in Last place while Electrum, a somewhat unproven player (though his rating and skills show promise) holds 3rd place. The next few turns could be bloody indeed as secondary lines of defense have been solidified and other frontal attacks appear to be imminent. Big questions! Defend? Fall back? Attack? Shift forces? It's an exciting game as most any full-tech game is. The (potential) victory can shift each turn. |
Re: Rated Challenges Thread
2 x 2 Challenge (full tech) - Alneyan/Slynky vs Electrum/Parabolize
Year: 2406.0 Well, 5 turns since Last update and the good guys (that's Alneyan and me http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif ) look to be ready for harvesting http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif . A fleet (of Parabolize's) has broken through (with another 30+ ships behind it) a critical point in the map and it looks like we have no defenses in place to stop it. Meanwhile, in the south, my ship building efforts seem to have been slow and any turn now, Electrum (who has been very silent) will break through and then there will be double trouble. Sigh...looks like doom for the good guys. To make things even worse, Parabolize has taken the race I beat him with on 2 other full-tech games and flaunted his ability in my face http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon8.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/blush.gif . But I've always said he's a good player. |
Re: Rated Challenges Thread
The Righteous Alliance has been indeed suffering against the Evil, Wicked, Nasty, Perfidious, Treacherous Foes of late. (Nay, I am not biased at all, it is truly the name of their alliance according to our Minister of Propaganda)
They managed to break through, bypassing our first line of defence, and our reserve fleet is all that stands between *them* and our worlds. But worry not, for the League shall save the day in this hour of dire need. We aren't quite sure how we will repel them, but we will, or like as not, we will die in the attempt. In short, Slynky is unfortunately right, and I am afraid I do not see any light in the distance for our Alliance. At least, I would love to see the League raising a bit in the rankings, even by a single place. Would that be too much to ask before we fall? *Smirks* Nevertheless, we are to keep on fighting, since the very idea of surrendering is adverse to our ideals. So for the Righteous Alliance, join in the fight to repulse the foes! Stand up for the League and all she stands for in her Last stand! Rally against the enemy, for we shall be in their thrall if we were to fall in this crucial moment! Drive them back, for we shall secure the throne of my sons and daughters and... Wait, that was my testament rather than my speech... Oh yes, I meant defend your freedom and your sovereign rights! Hold them at bay, as the League has been forced to put a mortgage upon our warships in order to repay her debts and my humble hundredth palace! Erh, you will remove this part before broadcasting my speech. Varneshan the Undying making his Last speech, before a grievous accident occurred to him during the coup of 2406. |
Re: Rated Challenges Thread
i have ended my challenge with Nodachi.
Due to the lack of turns... Last one was in Feb. So that game can be killed... And I am the winner... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif |

2x2 Challenge
turn 2406.2 Unless someone objects I think it is time for me to surrender http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif I dont know if the Pandora class ship is a star distroyer or not but it doesnt matter. 2 of my planets are not rioting, so from lack of resources my ~60 ships should be gone next turn. Good game http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif |
Re: Rated Challenges Thread
ah, parabolize just so you know you can only loose a maximum of one ship per turn to low resources.

Re: Rated Challenges Thread
Baron, shifts in outlooks can change radically in full-tech games...especially when one wonders into a system with a ship named, "Pandora" cloaked over a star.
|
Re: Rated Challenges Thread
And even in regular games, the situation can be changed rather quickly, as you may recall from our own game Grazic. You were winning and my Empire was going down, and only a lack of supplies in your fleets and my infamous luck managed to save the day for my League. (And even then, I had half my planets rioting in the end)
As for updates, why your Queries shall be answered next turn Grazic when we will see whether the Pandora Box will unleash a certain torpedo or a puff of smoke. And later on, you shall have the answers you are seeking for. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif (Remember, I have other tricks besides Light Carriers and the ability to detect minefields at long range. *Smirks*) |

Re: Rated Challenges Thread
Little Alneyan and Slynky were examining their toys, when the careless Alneyan seized the Torpedo and started toying with it. Still staring at his beloved warships, Slynky did not realize what danger he was in until Alneyan asked:
"Hey, what is this shiny rattle? It looks funny, but what are all these warning signs written on it?" Setting aside his battleGroups, Slynky raised an eyebrow and glanced at the highly explosive substance being shaken to and fro. "Put that back where you put it! If it wasn't for the fail save, we would have had quite an explosion here and..." "What fail save? You mean that useless trigger here?" Following this regrettable incident, Parabolize's fleet was unfortunately destroyed as well as the toy chest of the Good Guys. However, both Alneyan and Slynky managed to survive despite the bLast, the one warding off the bLast by his ingenious schemes (caution is highly advised when being anywhere near Alneyan, especially as an ally), and the other one sheltered by his infamous beginner luck. Erh, I was merely making a follow-up of Slynky remark about me "playing around with all the toys in a full tech game". Now we will be back to the regular programs, with a less unusual update to come. |

I'm having some more free time and will be happy to play. About game settings, I have not preferences. |
Re: Rated Challenges Thread
Speaking of challenges...
I'd like to see Fire and Phoenix-D have a game. Of course, I don't know their play availability but a game is much more enjoyable when you are in a game where you are more equal opponents. |
