Re: Turin and a VP win

Turin is about to assault a VP castle of mine, which he might take, depending upon how the battle goes. He might be getting close to a VP win.

Do you have to hold all of your VP provinces for a turn, or do you win immediately?

Ygorl February 2nd, 2006 12:56 AM

Re: Turin and a VP win

I'm not sure. I hope you win!

Turin February 2nd, 2006 07:52 AM

Re: Turin and a VP win

umm it will be only my sixth victory point. Since 13 are needed, this game will certainly take a while longer.

Waiting only on boron btw with 3 turns to host.

Re: Concede?

Well, Turin just destroyed my last army with no loss to himself. So, for me, that's about it. Stream of Lifed my Moloch, I think. First time for everything http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Of course the Moloch probably would have decayed anyway with all the Banefire being tossed around (is that how Banefire works?).

I'm willing to concede to Turin. If everybody wants to keep playing, I'll do my best to delay him. But I really have nothing that can do the job anymore.

It's been a fun game http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Well played, everybody.

Ygorl, do you still want to continue? Do you have something up your sleave?

Ygorl February 2nd, 2006 10:10 PM

Re: Concede?

Realistically, probably not. I do, however, have the most expensive sword in the game... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
That of course isn't remotely sufficient to turn the tide of anything, but I hate to give up before [insert your cliche here]. If everyone else is bored, of course we should call it a game; I'm still enjoying it though. And, Jurri's not yet dead!

Boron February 3rd, 2006 01:22 PM

Re: Concede?

I vote for stopping but am fine with whatever the majority decides.
Unfortunately i staled last turn but i will do my new turn today evening. Forgot last turn that we changed to 48h Quickhost http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif.

I have nothing to stop Turin neither, i think it depends on Whollaborg. Do you think you have a Chance vs. Turin?

Turin February 5th, 2006 09:34 AM

Re: Concede?

I probably wonīt be able to do this turn in time, I will be able to do it on monday evening. So a delay would be welcome.

Jurri February 5th, 2006 12:28 PM

Re: Concede?

I don't think it can be expected that CU is consistently observing the forum, so don't be surprised if there won't be one. (Thanks again, Chris: You're a great host!)

Looks like Whollaborg is not commenting, though. Did anyone send him that ingame message?

And, so far looks like only Ygorl is in favor of continuing (I don't count my own preference, since it's 3 minutes to do my turn as opposed to who knows how long for you guys)... Maybe you guys oughta finish me off for appearances sake http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif and then call it quits?

Boron February 5th, 2006 06:09 PM

Re: Concede?

How did the WQ die ? Was that an ultra lucky OE roll or what?

Turin February 5th, 2006 06:19 PM

Re: Concede?

I guess one of the wailing ladies attacks got through. That is the second WQ I lost to freespawns. Oh well I have enough royalty left http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif. I got the turn in though.

shovah February 5th, 2006 07:28 PM

Re: Concede?

since when are wailing ladies freespawns? iirc they had to be summoned (with a rather high price but im not sure)

Tom_Scudder February 7th, 2006 03:02 PM

Re: Concede?

Wailing Ladies freespawn in SG Ermor. Pretty rare, though, maybe 1 per 10 ghosts or so in high dominion temple districts.

shovah February 7th, 2006 03:39 PM

dont think ive ver noticed them (is it castle only? i always seem to castle more with AE)

Re: new turn

Dont worry, Jurri!

Thanks for a huge load of teaching!

You just got the Grand Prize from the NoDiplomacy game!
(Damn me because i dind't attack you there a couple of turns ago;)

Turin February 11th, 2006 01:57 PM

Re: new turn

A new turn. And it brings treachery. Marignon attacked and violated our three turn NaP. Who could have anticipated this.

Therefore I declare war on the entire world. Well I really have no reason to attack arco, but the entire world sounds cooler.

Since I own almost half the world at the moment, I guess this will be a fair fight vs the evil nations of demon worshippers, undead and treehuggers. Not to mention the sinister astral mages of Arcoscephaele.

So fear my legions of demons, vine ogres and demiliches you treacherous bastards!

Ygorl February 11th, 2006 02:39 PM

Re: new turn

We are very sinister indeed, both of us!
Prepare to perish.

jeffr February 11th, 2006 07:29 PM

Re: new turn

I think this game was decided by Turin's good play and the fact that Jurri survived, and fed Turin from what I understand, for the whole game againt 3 nations. How is that possible? I've never even been able to survive a 2 on 1 for very long.

Ygorl February 11th, 2006 07:46 PM

Re: new turn

Jurri's very good.
Boron wasn't particularly dedicated (though he did besiege Jurri's capital for quite a while).
That's mainly it... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I guess you and Boron are pretty much done for? Whollaborg and I aren't completely defenseless, though Turin may still walk all over us.

jeffr February 11th, 2006 08:15 PM

Re: new turn

Yeah, I'm done. Turin just took my capital. I don't know about Boron, though.

I'll have to remember the Stream of Life spell. My Moloch had a 25MR and went down to the 2nd or 3rd spell. He was lucky, too. That was the 2nd time he died that way.

Good luck against Turin http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Ygorl February 11th, 2006 08:20 PM

Re: new turn

Huh... It's supposed to be an MR negates spell... I wonder if it (like Paralyze?) has a secret penetration bonus?

Turin February 11th, 2006 08:41 PM

Re: new turn

hmm it is an aoe 1 spell. So maybe something with less MR was targeted and the moloch was caught in the radius. Still the spell is too powerful, even with MR negates. It has range 35 and nature certainly doesnīt need a powerful anti SC spell.

I am done too. It's frustrating to march vs. someone who has demilichs too when you are ermor http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif. Wither bones here, wither bones there, wither bones everywhere http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/evil.gif.

I'm sure my gems amounted to little; there was a bigger batch of air and earth gems in the hundreds but other than that only a small trickle. (If I remember correctly.) I even managed to destroy a... soul contract, was it? by accident by flooding Turin's lab with sanguine dousing rods http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif So, I might have been something of a hindrance.

Boron only had one small army facing me, even though I liked to exaggerate his involvement. Ygorl was in a very weak situation and quickly neutralized for a while. That left me in a situation where I couldn't stop Whollaborg's impressive assault while Ygorl slowly took his lands back: in the end I survived so long only because they both took the assault so methodically, without rushing anything. Or so it seemed to me.

So, thus dissected, it really is nothing extraordinary to just linger on.

Hold on, is this another cheezy MP tactic I haven't seen before? If you send items to another player, do they go into the lab before the items the player forges for the turn, or is it random? This could be an easy Denial Of Forge attack, by having an alliance each just make and send a dozen cheapo items to someone with the FoA global. Please tell me no.

shovah February 14th, 2006 02:28 PM

Re: new turn

it works but the amount you spend on it dosnt justify your result. what works better is a bunch of ulmish smiths with dwarven hammers+FoA up mass sending worthless items to someone trying to spam contracts/clams ect

Ygorl February 17th, 2006 01:22 AM

Re: new turn

A new turn is up. I am now accepting (soliciting? begging for?) contributions to the "Dispel Turin's Globals" fund.

Turin February 17th, 2006 08:02 AM

I wonīt contribute! But It would be interesting to know how many extra gems you put into the first dispel.

Re: new turn

new turn.
Marignon has quite a lot of nasty unique demons. So itīs only fair that I pepper him with hordes from hell. He also left one victorypoint uncastled bringing me up to 10.

Ygorl February 20th, 2006 01:17 AM

Re: new turn

Another new turn.
Turin, I thought you were peppering Whollaborg? What's with the wayward hordes?

Turin February 20th, 2006 08:53 AM

Re: new turn

Heh I have enough good stuff for everyone.

Good news for the good guys: Belial the lord of corruption lies slain in front of my gates. But I have made a sighting of Marignonīs prophet who looks pretty impressive:

That's rather unorthodox equipment he's got on, I have to say! Black steel helmet... What does he think he is, a commander of Ulm? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Whollaborg February 21st, 2006 11:40 AM

Re: new turn

Aye!

Commander of Ulm he is http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif ...Belial was a crazy move from me as he stated that he wanted to go sightseeing for a while. But i guess you cannot win every time http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

new turn. Shockingly boron attacked me instead of dieing peacefully. Ah well makes it at least a bit more interesting.

We lament the passing of GER and his happy nature lovers. But we still have one white centaur and one Pan, which we will preserve as trophies for all eternity http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif .

new turn. That poor succubus http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif . Oh and 3 flames from the skies rained down on my big army.

I will be gone for 10 days starting friday. So I would greatly appreciate it if the quickhosttimer gets taken off for that period.

I think I have the game won anyway, but Iīd hate to miss next turnīs battles.

Succubus saw one rather big mummy...

Wonder why i got a message from a host saying that "Tien Ch'i had an unexplainable rise of wealth this turn. This is probably caused by cheating."
Is this a bug? Did anyone of you get the same message?

Tha hos has not run yet..
