Re: Sophistry - Random Nations, Early Age (Sign-up
.... you have air and astral for sale? How many death gems do you need? I haven't got 260 left, I'm afraid - I also still need more fire resistance items.

Re: Sophistry - Random Nations, Early Age (Sign-up
So close, So close....
Caelum masses an army featuring 40+ casters. They all just sit back behind their mammomths and archers and spam summon air power, thunderstrike. One of their eagle kings is holding a staff of storms. First fight I tried to evict him i attack with my army and 20 casters. I get up flaming arrows, wind guide, ive got guys spamming thunder ward everywhere. spamming terror on his mammoths backed by soul slays. 30 river demons hold the center while 150 warriors of the 5 elements hold the flanks. Thing is, I re-equipp 4 of my commanders which resets their orders to defend. They are leading the 200 composite archers and 100 heavy infantry and they are a no-show for the fight. awww damn it was sooo close but my losses are too great and my forces retreat. I lose 20 commanders, all my river demons, half my wo5e and almost all of the chaff, 5-10 of which are celestial masters. He loses every mammoth. 1 caster. ouch. not a good exchange. So, I have this bright idea. I equip an air queen with about 14 air gems, horror helm, rime hauberk, ring of regen, amulet of reinvigoration, charcoal shield, flame brand and I wind ride into his province. I teleport along my pretender as the tank and put her in front of the air queen. The air queen scripts summon storm power, and the lightning storm spell (forget name) mist form, air shield, attack. My pretender buffs with ehthereal, luck, breath of winter. Now, what normally has been happening (I tested a few times with my pretender) is that all of the air casters default to casting summoning phantom wolves because of the lightning /cold immunities. I was going to sit back and let the phantom wolves wash over me while the lightning storm did its work. It worked like a charm accept one thing. He added in a group 20 or so of Storm warriors that can fly during a storm. they land on top of the 2 SC's. then some arrows fly which kills about 1/3 of them. they attack and actually do damage to the air queen who is at 50 fatigue after casting the lightning storm.Ahh no, magical ice weapons! After their round the 2 scs attack and knock the group down to about 7 left. Despite their losses, mounuting fatigue from the 2 frost auras and the horror helm they stay and attack 1 more round. blam, dead air queen!! After that the storm warriors were killed/routed by my pretender, but the damage was done. no more lightning storm. Of course then the plan works perfectly. the phantom wolves pile up around the pretender, the combat moves to 50 turns and she routs and dies. Damn those Storm warriors! Caelum, I hope you enjoy the gear they were wearing. |
Re: Sophistry - Random Nations, Early Age (Sign-up
And oh, can I bring my pretender back from the dead as a mummy because she is in the hall of fame?
|
Re: Sophistry - Random Nations, Early Age (Sign-up
You know, I'm not sure. Pretenders do turn into wight mages, I know that, so it probably works.
|
Re: Sophistry - Random Nations, Early Age (Sign-up
Time to load up a test game!
|
Re: Sophistry - Random Nations, Early Age (Sign-up
Oh man. I think we about to see the mother of all underwater battles in Atlantis. Azathoth is pissed off! He is ripping the fins off of our Triton troopers in anticipation.
|
Re: Sophistry - Random Nations, Early Age (Sign-up
I'll have to download fraps for next turn.

Azathoth is dead, and the army of Atlantis is shattered by the forces of R'lyeh.
I'm going AI as of now. Good luck to all of you who remain. Atlantis |
Re: Sophistry - Random Nations, Early Age (Sign-up
Check that... going AI next turn. I have one last piece of business to finish.

Re: Sophistry - Random Nations, Early Age (Sign-up
Well Yomi's time has come. I'm hoping to quicken the pace of my defeat by Neifelheim (who is going to creame me).
So I'll stick around enough to burn down the countryside and scorch the earth. You guys better start working on some sort of an alliance against him though http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif I have a lot of artifacts I'm going to give away to those people who have been helpful to me. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |

Oh, like me? ... Oh wait, I'm dead! Sorry! ;p

Hey, I'm a friendly giant. I only attacked Yomi because Abyssia pulled through on his diplomacy (with whom I had positive diplomatic relations way back in the yonder years.)
Anyway, look at the research graphs. Sure, I'm all big and scary and I'm giants, but if you spend all your resources attacking me, you'll miss the real threat from people with some late game punch. That said, I'm always open to negotiations and would love to have allies http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif. I'm willing to be very generous and reasonable since I really, really don't want to be ganged up on http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif. |
Re: Sophistry - Random Nations, Early Age (Sign-up
Does anyone object to me taking over as the sub for Argatha? Ermor went AI a couple turns ago...
|
Re: Sophistry - Random Nations, Early Age (Sign-up
may i object as you are such an awesome player who combines with a superb situation equals to win?
just kidding :p |
Re: Sophistry - Random Nations, Early Age (Sign-up
A delay has been requested to let the new EA Agartha player (Baalz) get up to speed.
Someone might need to remind me to turn the clock back to 48 hours after this host http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif |
Re: Sophistry - Random Nations, Early Age (Sign-up
I'm taking my turn now, no need for a delay. I've got zip on info other than what I can see looking at the map. I wouldn't ordinarily ask, but lacking any context if any of the people with armies on my border are planning to immediately attack me it would be sporting to give me the heads up that relations are hostile. Outside of that I'll assume neutral relations at this point, other than Abyssia who appears to be halfway down my gullet.

Re: Sophistry - Random Nations, Early Age (Sign-up
Actually, I'm going to gone over the weekend, so could we delay the hosting-after-this-one by 24 hrs? Were we on a 24 hr timer before (I thought it was 48)? I just put in a turn but may not be able to take my next turn on time http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif.
Sorry for any invonvenience, DrPraetorious |
The sleeping giant awakens
Well, I seem to have blown my entire load of earth gems and am ready to offer low low forging prices to anyone I'm not at war with (which right now is everybody not AI). I can forge most things and can probably offer them cheaper than you can forge them yourself. Best prices if you can pay in earth or water gems, but I'll accept most anything so nows the time to get those off path items your own mages can't forge. Bulk discounts and financing available.
|
Re: The sleeping giant awakens
I'll try and remember to tack on another 24 hours to the next one http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
Turn has been readjusted to 48. |
Re: The sleeping giant awakens
Did I send somebody 50 death gems? Anyone want to be honest and send them back?
|
Re: Sophistry - Random Nations, Early Age (Started)
Abyssia has staled 3 times in a row now?
|
Re: Sophistry - Random Nations, Early Age (Started
I'm storming their capital and last province this turn so it's a moot point anyway.
|
Re: Sophistry - Random Nations, Early Age (Started
Afraid I'm going to have to beg for a time extension, my Internet access has been patchy lately. It doesn't have to be long, even 6 hours would be enough.
|
Re: Sophistry - Random Nations, Early Age (Started
I reset the clock to 48. I can force host it to avoid waiting on Abysia if need be once everyone is ready.
|
Re: Sophistry - Random Nations, Early Age (Started
Hmmm, the connection problems have prevented me from taking my turn and I'm heading out for the weekend. Can we please delay hosting until Sunday afternoon?
|
Re: Sophistry - Random Nations, Early Age (Started
Ok, I just found my new favorite spell. I guessed right and my 20 casters just wooped up on Caelums 50 man caster army. Total tally: 2 banelord thugs and a bezerk Celestial master dead vs 38 out of 50 Caelum casters dead. It's about time I won one.
Storm warriors helped my calvary get close. But they still ran away before doing much damage. The spell that ripped him up was Astral fire. Mmm, No immunity to it. Just wish I hadnt lost one of my lucky S3 mages with some nice penetration items to that retarded beserk spell. |
Re: Sophistry - Random Nations, Early Age (Started
Afraid I'm going to have to beg for more time, again. A thousand curses on my broadband provider and their overpriced helpline.

I would like to ask for a 24 hour extension. I will be out of town and my laptop is can't go with me.
|
Re: Sophistry - Random Nations, Early Age (Started
I'll reset it to 48 tomorrow for you Rytek
|
Re: Sophistry - Random Nations, Early Age (Started
Sorry to be a pain, but is there anyway I could grab a 24 hour extension? Got some visitors in town...
|
Re: Sophistry - Random Nations, Early Age (Started
Sorry about the delay guys, just got my turn in.
|
Re: Sophistry - Random Nations, Early Age (Started
Oh, my, god.
My pretender is dead, and 400+ gems are down the drain. Guess why? I teleported my pretender onto dry land without an amulet. Normally I'm extremely mum about things going on in the game. I hate to give away any advantage, but this is so utterly awful I had to share. I'm sure some people were curious why the forge went back down. Jazzepi |

I tell you, I have yet to find something which regularly makes me feel so dumb as Dominions. If it makes you feel any better check out one of my colossal goofs which pretty much shot a decent chance I had of winning.

Here is the deal:
DO NOT CONNECT TO THIS SERVER WITH THE 3.10 PATCH. I will post here when the game is updated and you can connect with the new patch. I will upgrade all the games on my server at once. The timer will be be taken off all the games and I will manually upgrade and host all of my games Wed (tomorrow) at about 10pm. Please do all your turns with the old patch (3.08) Until the upgrade of the server please continue to use the old 3.08 patch. Thanks! |
Re: Sophistry - Random Nations, Early Age (Sign-up
Any chance of increasing the time limit?

Re: Sophistry - Random Nations, Early Age (Sign-up
Well, thank goodness I am at war again. The 2 turns I had of peace were so boring! Even if Oceanus is going to crush me, at least I can look forward to some battle reports again.
|
Re: Sophistry - Random Nations, Early Age (Sign-up
I also would like 72 hours.
|
Re: Sophistry - Random Nations, Early Age (Sign-up
I just changed the hosting time to 72 hours.
|
Re: Sophistry - Random Nations, Early Age (Sign-up
Thanks for changing it Velusion. I don't suppose you could change the timer on the status page from 48 to 72 hours also?

Re: Sophistry - Turn Notification
I'm the substitute for R'lyeh, is there any way I can notifications of turns e-mailed to me?

Sure... PM me your email address and I will add you and remove Jazzepi.
