I'm a pessimist. I already dubbed the Bug thread the thread that will never die.

KO has not even responded to this thread in ages. He must be busy working on the map that will never be.

July bump!

I've been dribbling with enthusiasm for over a year now. All the carpets are ruined, the pets have drowned, I've lost 5 jobs, my family moved out...

BTW, llama, your in-box is full. You might want to delete some messages.

I didn't know any other way to contact to you, hence this post.

You can write a visitor message when entering a profile, I think it shows up as a notification too.

Maybe it will be finished around the time it starts college, but it will not die until at least 86.

Re: The map that will never be

I say just release the map now in its current form... then as time passes provide updates. This will allow the map to be used by a greater number of gamers because as time passes the community will slowly decrease.

Oh dear, it seems it's time for the end of august bump!

Come on KO, let us play on this beautiful map!

Please?

Re: The map that will never be

I don't think it was in an even close to finished form. Wait a year or two. KO will probably come back to it at some point.

Agreed, it will probably arrive with Dominions_4... which will be during the year 2015 or later.

at least we can die playing a nice map.

Shameless october bump ! :D

In my heart, I know that if there haven't be any update on http://ulm.illwinter.com/dom3/dom3progress.html since 19th august, and still no patch with the listed changes, it is because the map is being finished, why would it take so long else ? ;P

Re: The map that will never be

I suspect it has a bit to do with Kristoffer's classes, and whatever the Secret Project is... I can't imagine a long cold Swedish winter going by without the need for creative projects such as this one, though. If Spring should arrive without some major communication from Illwinter, then I'll worry a lot more.

I know, I was mainly joking to justify my bump. :angel

However, I'm still somewhat surprised that the new resolutions for net books have not been released yet, as them being listed on the progress page would seems to imply that they are already done and only need some beta testing. But as you write, real life can sometimes be hard to overcome ... :p

Gandalf Parker October 5th, 2009 04:29 PM

Re: The map that will never be

I was thinking that the netbook screen sizes just meant that either one of the Johans or Kristoffer had gotten a netbook. That doesnt mean WE are getting it anytime soon. Or maybe the holdup is that the new map has to be reworked for netbook size.

Its tempting to send Johan one of the new linux hand-held gaming portables and see what that does.

November bump - more out of a sense of tradition than any particular optimism.

Gandalf Parker November 5th, 2009 01:42 PM

Re: The map that will never be

Actually Im beginning to feel expectation because of the lack of response on this thread. Purely guesswork of course but Im fantasizing that it means that the new game project has:
A) progressed beyond the basic coding to need content for alpha testing
B) interesting enough and deep enough to totally absorb free-time from both Johan (coding) and Kristoffer (graphics, content)

It's possible one of them hooked up with that female intern who was probably eye-candy. Hopefully the next intern is more gamer/programmer which can provide stuff for the game.

Unless KO chooses a champion map maker from the community and entrusts to him the completion of the MtwNB. Upon completion should be renamed to the map that almost never was ;)

NTJedi August 6th, 2010 12:17 AM

Re: The map that will never be

I moved my vote for this thread to 1 star because showing something so great with "never" an intention to deliver is torture. It's like building an awesome dream home yet telling your friends and family they will be allowed to enter the home because it will never be finished.
If the map is ever released I will change my vote to 5 stars, but until then I vote 1 star for the torture.
