Works for me.

Also, I'm not getting new turn notification e-mails.

Me neither, and I'm spoiled...I'll probably end up staling without a notification. :p

I'll get this set to 48 and check on the notifications when I get home from work.

48 hour will work great, thanks.

actually it does, but if sivoc would rather withdraw i guess thats it. Please just pay a little more attention in the future, DryaUnda...

Re: Allegiances 2 (Large Team-Based Game, RECRUITI

So, the 15 turn global NAP, does that mean we can give attack orders on 15 and get the battle results on 16, or do we have to wait til 16 to give offensive orders? Just so everyone's on the same page.

Thrawn November 14th, 2007 12:46 PM

Re: Allegiances 2 (Large Team-Based Game, RECRUITI

You have to wait until 16 to give offensive orders. 15 full turns.

DrPraetorious November 14th, 2007 07:15 PM

Re: Allegiances 2 (Large Team-Based Game, RECRUITI

So the actual attackers will arrive on turn 17? Gotcha.

I think Micah must be having connection problems, because it looks like he's about to stale.

Do people know if I can take a turn for him (assuming I can find what I did with his password) or will that cause CD key fits?

DrPraetorious December 2nd, 2007 11:41 PM

Re: Allegiances 2 (Large Team-Based Game, RECRUITI

I got someone to send in a turn for him.

Hopefully things will speed up now that Abysia is actually eliminated.

Re: Allegiances 2 (Large Team-Based Game, RECRUITI

huh? I have another 4 hours yet...I didn't figure aby would be breaking his staling streak, so I figured I wouldn't be holding anything much up by waiting a bit.

Re: Allegiances 2 (Large Team-Based Game, RECRUITI

Just some random comments...

I can say this because I've had pretty good partner (Yay Thrawn!) but for the next team game I would make it where players signed up as a team, rather than randomly assign them. I feel kinda bad ripping into players that obviously didn't have much of a chance because of their partners quit or staled a few times.

Micah December 21st, 2007 07:45 PM

Re: Allegiances 2 (Large Team-Based Game, RECRUITI

*shrug* Given that way back at the beginning of the thread it was suggested that partners share out their passwords with their teammate in case there was an issue with staling/quitting I can't really agree with your reasoning Vel. I know DrP got someone to take a turn for me when he thought I had even the slightest chance of staling (I got it in with about 3 hours left on the host clock), so anything beyond a single stale from a nation is a failure on the part of both members of the team, not just the delinquent player IMO. Not that I'm condoning people abandoning games, especially in a team situation, but repeated stales are avoidable.

Not to say choosing teammates would be bad, but I kind of like the chance for a vet and a newer player to work together, might help the learning curve quite a bit for the newcomer.

This assumes you are stuck with someone who will give away their password and who communicates. I'm not giving my password to Thrawn (of course, I don't stale and would find a replacement if I had to leave). I actually think it's kinda cheesy to have your partner play your nation... I mean whats the point of a team game then?

*snort* Hah! So are you or DrP the newb on your team? I'm anxious to know... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif

Micah December 21st, 2007 08:21 PM

Re: Allegiances 2 (Large Team-Based Game, RECRUITI

Hey, I said *chance*! Obviously we lucked out into a really good team.

As to the password thing, I wasn't saying it was ideal, but I don't think it qualifies as cheesy to play your partner nation for 2-3 turns while you hunt for a sub. I think that's a lot different than just running a double nation for the length of the game, maybe you disagree.

I also wouldn't hesitate to ask for a replacement partner if I had doubts about them at the beginning due to a lack of communication and a lack of getting their pass. (Obviously if I trusted my partner it wouldn't be a big deal if they didn't want to share, but if they were uncommunicative, unknown, and unwilling to give out their PW I'd feel ok counting that as a full 3 strikes)

And to clarify, I think a premade team game would be awesome, I just think there's a place for random pairings as well.

Any chance of a pause over Christmas? For some reason my dad thought it was a good idea to unplug our home computer(with dominion on it), and it doesn't look like it'll be up until after Christmas(staled the last turn because of that).

Yea I'll put the timer on for 5+ days.

FYI, I tried to take a turn for Shovah and got a CD key violation message. Not sure what the difference is between what I did this time and what I did before, but just a heads up in case anybody else needs to find a sub for their partner.

I kept telling people that this would happen as well, but everyone told me I was crazy... so finally I stopped arguing this... hehe.

Crushing with extreme prejudice

Sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't, it's very strange. One source of confusion - I don't think it ever happens with PBEM.

Definitely safest to avoid doing it, in any case.

Can anyone else connect?

Baalz January 10th, 2008 11:08 PM

Re: Crushing with extreme prejudice

So, given C'tis has staled something like 5 times, and is currently holding up the game, I see three possibilities.

1) I can try to find a perma sub - this would require Argatha/Caelum to agree to stall our impending war for a turn or two for the sub to get his bearings. This would probably be an exercise in futility anyway as I'm anticipating a fairly lopsided war.

2) Set C'tis to AI and I can throw my lot in with Pangea/Arco which should make for an interesting fight considering the relative sizes of everyone.

3) I can go AI as well.

I'm not in a terribly strong position and don't have a strong preference one way or another, let me know what would make the most enjoyable game for all.

Micah January 11th, 2008 01:52 AM

Re: Crushing with extreme prejudice

Well, I wouldn't be averse to accepting a concession, and I doubt DrP would, either, so it's mostly between you and the Pan/Arco team.

Velusion January 11th, 2008 02:26 AM

Re: Crushing with extreme prejudice

I'll talk with Thrawn. I actually don't have a problem conceding as well, but Thrawn might want to fight on.

Re: Crushing with extreme prejudice

I vote for all-of-you against Micah and me. Set C'tis to AI, and we'll see what we can do.

Re: Crushing with extreme prejudice

Just to be clear - I've got nothing against a mass surrender, I'd just like to trot out some of my stuff first.

I've got a major invasion of Mictlan scheduled for treaty expiration week, we've got all sorts of tartarians and things. These turns with the forge have been pretty involved and I want to test what I put together, at least a bit.

Baalz January 11th, 2008 03:12 PM

I would never dream of denying someone the joy of crushing me before the first shot is fired. As I said I'm not in a terribly strong position, but I'll do what I can to make your efforts worthwhile. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Ulm's been eaten by the snakemen, but I'm still getting turn notifications. Did I forget to do something?

Velusion January 13th, 2008 09:54 PM

Re: Crushing with extreme prejudice

After speaking with Thrawn and seriously looking at the map I'm going to concede to Caelum/Agartha and be putting Pangaea on AI after this next turn.

Micah and DrP did an (expected) great job. I really appreciate Baalz's offer to join us against the C&A, but the thought of putting C'tis on AI was not attractive at all as I'd have to divert forces to contain the AI up there.

As my first playing (either SP or MP) of Pangaea I made a few mistakes and probably would have done things differently. I probably also needed to coordinate and communicate with Thrawn better/more but playing in 4 games made this difficult.

Micah January 15th, 2008 03:36 PM

Re: Crushing with extreme prejudice

So we're done? Pity, the tart factory had just started up. At least the game can end with my Pretender alive and well, he just made it back this turn.

Just as well, since I think DrP is in Mexico at the moment, so it'll save him some trouble.

Cheers to DrP for being an excellent partner, he was communicative and reliable, as well as being quite a good player. It was a pleasure working with him.

Baalz January 15th, 2008 04:47 PM

Re: Crushing with extreme prejudice

Ah, I was indubitably going to get the smack down, but was so looking forward to a couple more turns of watching Argatha's one eyed PD trying to chase down hundreds of imps. I'm sure I'd be earth attack/seeking arrowed to oblivion but I'd saved up enough blood slaves to keep the deluge up for awhile. Would have been fun if I'd had a few allies to soak up some of the retribution.

BTW, if I recruit an indie commander is he available as a decoy from rituals the same turn?

DrPraetorious January 15th, 2008 05:39 PM

Re: Crushing with extreme prejudice

Ah, yeah, I'm having some connection problems and was going to ask for a 24 hr extension - but if the game is over that makes things a bit easier.

It is a pity we weren't able to bring the tartarians and wishes on-line, but que sirra sirra.
