Sorry to see you go, but I certainly understand (and to a certain degree share) your sentiment.
Please PM me with whatever information you'd like to relay to your sub or better yet fill him in when the time comes.

WraithLord December 7th, 2008 05:52 AM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

Ossa has volunteered to permanently sub for Jomon.

In general, its not very common for a player in a game to permanently sub for another player in that same game.

I do think that there are special circumstances that make this an exception but since it uncommon I'd like to hear what you guys, namely alhorro and klagrok, think about this.

WraithLord December 7th, 2008 12:57 PM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

slayers_ai has agreed to take over Jomon.

Welcome aboard slayers_ai :)

Herode can you please PM him with whatever information you think he'll require, including a password in case you had one.

Please tell me when the transition is complete so I could change the email address on the server.

Herode December 7th, 2008 05:07 PM

Victoria, subbing

PMd the few informations about Jomon to the sub.
You can switch the @address as soon as he confirms, I guess.

Cheers,
H.

WraithLord December 8th, 2008 04:53 AM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

Address switched.

If we don't find a sub for R'lyeh by the end of the week I don't see any choice but to turn it AI.

klagrok December 8th, 2008 10:45 AM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

Ive been permanently 'subbing' for Ossa in Qwerty since August. So it does happen. As for a 2nd powerhouse AI not sure where I stand on that one :)

Well, Qwerty is different since it started out as a team game. By now all teams but one are played by a single player. So it actually turned out to be a one player handles two nations game :)

Would you prefer a staling R'lyeh?

alhorro December 8th, 2008 12:05 PM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

Staling or AI'd R'lyeh disperse 90% of the game intrigue imo. Personally I'd vote for postponing the game till we find a sub. LA R'lyeh is the most popular LA nation and here even a lime-green player can gain experience of operating lategame R'lyeh with a leading position in MP. I think we should just advertise the vacancy properly, maybe using some eye-catching posters with tentacles, naked girls, hordes of FREE!!1 chaff, insane cats and all the stuff :/

WraithLord December 8th, 2008 12:16 PM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

I don't think postponing the game until we find a sub is a good option.
The game is already hanging by a thread. What with two players missing and the TC AI running amok. Add to that an indefinite wait for a sub and you may cause the rest of the players (me included) to lose whatever shred of interest they had left in this game.

Hey, if you so care for R'lyeh you should arrange some incentive for the potential sub, like a free supply of blood beer  made in Mictlan breweries ;)

alhorro December 8th, 2008 12:45 PM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

Well, this game has been providing a very unique feeling of survival horror, and human-controlled R'lyeh could easily be the next evil super-empire that requires global nations cooperation to deal with. But if we set it to AI, the game becomes just another pretty predictable lategame snail.

WraithLord December 8th, 2008 02:04 PM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

But why all these sad thoughts

Bwaha is back and will assume control over neglected R'lyeh :D

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

Is there any way we can delay Turn 78's deadline until January 3rd?? Know it will probably be due the 1st, but going on vacation and not sure if the weather will cooperate. Already sent in this turn, and it isnt due until the 28th---hopefully it wont be too long of a delay--thanks

WraithLord December 25th, 2008 06:06 AM

NP. Njoy your vacation :)

Bwaha December 27th, 2008 02:39 AM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

I apologize for my lackluster performance. I will pay more attention to this game. I won't justify myself by excuses. I will have the next turn in tomorrow. Sorry guys.

An explanation of my tardiness is owed to you guys though, I got enthralled by a great forum populated by fellow veterans and have spent most of my free time hanging out with them. Sorry, it won't happen again. Bwaha :D

klagrok December 30th, 2008 03:47 PM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

Bossman, might need another 24 hr extention so I can make sure I have enough time to submit my turn--using bro-in-law's laptop, but game on my computer back in Utah. Should be good if weather cooperates. :)

Can we hold til Saturday Afternoon? Thanks :D

The hosting is scheduled for 13:00 GMT on Tuesday January 6th. Do you need a four day extension to Sat. 10th instead?

Bwaha January 2nd, 2009 06:22 PM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

No, I just received the latest turn and also got a message saying that the game was hosting in six hours. I didn't have time to check Llama server so I just wanted to postpone till sat. the third. :D

PS. I just noticed where your posting from. Stay safe, and good luck.

ok then.

And thank you!

WraithLord January 5th, 2009 04:28 PM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

Had a crazy week and no time play the turn yet. I've added 24h that will hopefully suffice for me to take the turn.

WraithLord January 6th, 2009 05:06 PM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

ok. My turn is in. Last to go is Mictlan :)

WraithLord January 11th, 2009 09:40 AM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

Guys If I'm not mistaken last turns have hosted exactly at the moment the turn time has expired. This means that one or more players have staled. I suspect it may be R'lyeh again. Can you please help confirm whether R'lyeh is staling?- If so, I'll talk to Bwaha and if he can't play the game then try to find a sub for him.

Redeyes January 11th, 2009 09:41 AM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

This not enough?

WraithLord January 11th, 2009 10:02 AM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

Wow, I didn't know the server had that capability. Awesome :)

So R'lyeh staled 3/5 last turns.
Bwaha, are you still interested in playing R'lyeh?

Bwaha January 12th, 2009 03:13 PM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

I hope this works, ny computer is locking up after a few moments of use. I'm sorry but I have to get a new one. Be back after this summer. Sorry, please replace me because this problem makes playing a game impossible. Good luck you all. Bye...:D

WraithLord January 12th, 2009 04:26 PM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

I'm sorry to hear that Bwaha :(

Thank you for the heads up I'll be posting for a sub now.

Hope you get your box fixed soon.

WraithLord January 19th, 2009 02:33 AM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

With no sub forthcoming for R'lyeh I have no choice but to turn it AI :(

alhorro January 19th, 2009 03:08 AM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

I have to admit that finally I've lost the interest for this game ):
Iirc I was the only one who had been voting for resuming the game, but now with 96 hrs interval (I can barely remember what were my orders after such large gaps between turns) and R'lyeh as AI it's not fun. If you guys are still interested, I'll try to find a sub, if not — hmm, is there a way to set all the nations to AI and enjoy the show? (:

WraithLord January 19th, 2009 03:24 AM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

Funny, now that I've finally managed to drive off TC forces I'm actually starting to enjoy the game again. I think Klagrok is also having fun. Don't know about Bogarus and Jomon.

R'lyeh as AI is inevitable, it seems no one wants to sub for it :(

alhorro, I'll give you the same reason you gave me to continue the game when I wanted to quit. You've come so far, you may as well finish the game.

But of course, my opinion is that the game should be fun the play and if it becomes a drag instead of fun, well then its up to you to decide.

I'll be sorry if you decide to quit. If you are sure about this can you please find a sub?

alhorro January 19th, 2009 04:23 AM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

Bogarus has went AI some time ago (:

I'd be enjoying the game, but it's the huge interval that drives me out. It may take another year to finish the game and no any visible short-term goal — as I've mentioned before, the main intrigue to me was R'lyeh. So could you please postpone a game for 24h while I'll try to find a sub?

WraithLord January 19th, 2009 04:58 AM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

Bogarus went AI???- My, that comes as a real surprise.

Of course I'll postpone by 24h.

I'll step in for alhorro.

AreaOfEffect January 22nd, 2009 07:04 PM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

I've received messages from Wraithlord and alhorro, mostly to welcome me and update me on the situation. I have only one problem, I haven't got a turn file yet. I have already requested a turn resend with no result. My conclusion is that my e-mail has yet been assigned to Mictlan.

WraithLord January 23rd, 2009 02:31 AM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

My bad. Sorry for the oversight.

Email address changed and turn resent so should get to you soon. If not, you can ask for a resend at llamaserver.

AreaOfEffect January 24th, 2009 07:12 PM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

A new spirit has taken possession of the Malkav, the God of Mictlan. As his first act of rulership, the spirit has outlawed the practice of slavery. They are no longer obligated to stay within Mictlan and are asked to leave. Apparently, banishment counts as freedom.

WraithLord January 27th, 2009 08:26 AM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

Guys, I'd like to update you that I'll be on a 3 week vacation this coming March.
I have found a temporary sub for me and what a sub he is.
*drum beat*
The creator of our war ridden universe.
The Kohen Elion of Gath.
The one and only - Jazzepi.

I'll send a 2nd update on date regarding the actual transfer of authority over the unruly monkeys :)

WraithLord February 26th, 2009 11:26 AM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

ok. Jazzepi will take over Victoria until I'm back (25/03) effective next turn - 95.

He will need some extra time to process the turns. So I'll be adding one day to the schedule. I hope it ok with you guys.

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

Sigh =\ I had the turn all ready, and I was going, send it out tonight for Patala, but I thought I had plenty of time because the server didn't send out a warning e-mail.

I think either Wraith Lord didn't setup proper forwarding rules so that I got that e-mail as well, or Llamaserver didn't send it.

AreaOfEffect March 1st, 2009 01:40 AM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

Interesting you should say that. When last I checked the server I thought I had plenty of time as well. I didn't get to submit the turn and I therefore just staled without meaning to.

I just went through my e-mails and there is absolutely no notification that I was running out of time.

WraithLord March 1st, 2009 06:56 AM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

Are you guys referring to turn 94?

Jazzepi, I have played turn 94 and submitted it on time. I hope I made it clear in my email to you and in this thread (I specifically mentioned turn 95), sorry for any possible confusion.
Did you get turn 95?- If so this means that the forwarding rule works well. There's no real reason that it won't as I have successfully set several of those already.

AoE, I'm sorry to hear that you staled :(
I find it odd that the server didn't send a warning email. I know I got these in the past and they saved me from staling. Perhaps you'd want to alert llamaserver to that so that he may look into it.

klagrok March 1st, 2009 09:49 AM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

Dont count on email to make sure you dont stale--I have llama server under my favorites so I just check it a few times a day to see if my turns have made it and how long I have.

AreaOfEffect March 1st, 2009 01:04 PM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

I generally don't rely on the e-mail. I just find it strange that I didn't get one.

klagrok March 1st, 2009 02:06 PM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

Sometimes when I look at the server I confuse it's time with my time :) Missed a few turns myself that way.

Jazzepi March 1st, 2009 03:16 PM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

Yeah I thought I was suppose to do turn 94 ;) So I guess WL didn't stale!

Nope :) WL had his turn in a few days ago

AreaOfEffect March 5th, 2009 01:43 AM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

My apologies. This was my first attempt to sub for another player. I thought for a while it would be interesting to try, and indeed it was interesting.

Its taken me all this time to rid myself of my useless and costly chaff. Still a good proportion of it remains, but my upkeep is down and my mages and sacreds are up, which is satisfying. I also managed to double the blood slave output. Still, I don't find this game enjoyable. I just don't like picking up where someone else left off, especially since I think it to be a lot of work to bring the nation around to my standards.

I sat down to do my turn several times recently and just didn't have the heart each time. This is a game; games are meant to be fun; this feels more like work; I would therefore like to play another game. Again, I'm sorry.

klagrok March 17th, 2009 09:14 PM

Re: LA Game - Victoria - Running

Jazeppi, any chance you change add a day or two to the hosting? Thought I had about 6 days, but appears I have about 23 hrs or so !!! :)
