I beleive it's an international phrase. Russians play cards as well, not poker, but other games.

chrispedersen September 13th, 2008 09:46 AM

Games over, Dog has won

There are days I hate this game. Why he didn't cast his scripted antimagic, I'll never know.

Anyway, guys - check the hall of fame. Its that bad.
You might want a small pause to decide whether to continue the game. I vote in favor of just declaring arco the winner.

Re: Jotunland (PBEM) - (game on!)

I'm actually not sure what I'm supposed to be seeing on the hall of fame... it's still mostly your guys, plus my prophet the Fir Bolg Commander who somehow got the credit for 132 kills (I'm guessing a bug) and a few of Arcoscephale's guys. Still, I have no chance of winning the game, so I won't stop you folks who do have one if you want to conclude.

Re: Jotunland (PBEM) - (game on!)

Wow, I haven't seen the new turn yet, but juging Cris's comments my risky covert operation succeded. I'll watch it tomorrow morning, but my guesses for not casting antimagic are: 1) he had no required gems; 2) he was engaged melee combat.

chrispedersen September 13th, 2008 03:22 PM

Re: Jotunland (PBEM) - (game on!)

Those arco guys used to be my guys last turn.

Putting aside game talk for a minute, I really don't understand how that turn is mechanically possible.

From page 71:
Phase 6: is magic battles.
phase 12: is Friendly movement
phase 13: is other movement

I can understand you teleporting in - thats why *I* cloud trapezed in, with guys specifically to cast antimagic.

What happened is this:

1. Winged Dog (moves/teleports in) no antimagic goes off. Winged defeats me.
2. My guys trapeze in, and move in (two separate actions).
Winged defeats me again. (one battle)

I don't mind losing - in fact I'd say great game. (though I'm sorely disappointed) .. but I'd like to know why it didn't go:

EITHER

My unit cloud trapezes / Wing teleports - Battle
my units move in - battle.

OR

My unit cloud trapezes
My unit moves in
Winged Dog moves in - Battle.

Re: Jotunland (PBEM) - (game on!)

I've just watched the battle. What can I say, Chris, antimagic costs 1 astral pearl, and your mage had none, that's why he didn't cast it. About the sequence can't tell you anything - I've seen only 1 teleported mage of yours.

GUYS
I had requested a delay!

I didn't even get to consider that turn - let alone enter a turn.

Re: Jotunland (PBEM) - (game on!)

Gentlemen, Actually I have been engaged in a wonderful war with Sauro which he just won for all practical purposes and did a great job of it.

I was going to have to stale 2 or 3 turns as I leave Weds morning to play Rugby in Aspen for a week (I'm sorry I knew this was coming up but I honestly forgot about it until this past week at practice).

Seeing that the graphs indicate a winner and the fact that some are calling for a declared winner I will instead of letting my game stale put it on AI after this turn.

Thank you for a great game and learning experiance as I am new.

Good luck and I will see you in future games.

To Sauro...GREAT GAME, well played.

Re: Jotunland (PBEM) - (game on!)

Well I want to express my frustration.
I had the 75 fire gems (just got them the turned that staled) to blind his god - and while he would have won, I hate getting a stale turn, and hate the way this ended.

However you are a brilliant player Whisker. Great job.

Wait, what? I have recieved no request for a delay.

Re: Jotunland (PBEM) - (game on!)

Thanks, Chris, you did really great job with Niefel, and you are undoubtedly a really hard opponent to fight. Maybe we'll meet again in other game. :) This one is still not over though, and with llamaserver not exepting e-mails I'm a little concerned what is going to happen with it and with other games.

Re: Jotunland (PBEM) - (game on!)

Roll back the turn = )

WingedDog September 21st, 2008 02:23 AM

Re: Jotunland (PBEM) - (game on!)

If it was only you and me, I'd also ask to reroll. BUT there are other people in this game as well, and that turn was much more important to them - during that turn was a battle of largest armies of Sauro and Hel, which Sauro has won, and Caelum had his little victory on me. Replaying it would lead to very different results possibly upseting them even more then you are now.

Could you explain, maybe? What is the reason for the rollback request?

chrispedersen September 21st, 2008 11:10 PM

Re: Jotunland (PBEM) - (game on!)

I had asked for a delay, cyborg. Was without power for 12 hours, had to put up hurricane shutters etc.

Instead of granting the delay, the turn processed without me making a turn. I have no idea what happened on the last turn - but not submitting a turn, it could not have been pretty.

WingedDog September 21st, 2008 11:15 PM

Re: Jotunland (PBEM) - (game on!)

Chris, if you open the stale table you'd see most of us were staling at least 1 turn.

CyborgMoses September 22nd, 2008 03:48 PM

Re: Jotunland (PBEM) - (game on!)

Eh? There's no request for a delay from you here in the thread, and you didn't send me a private message. I am confused.

chrispedersen September 23rd, 2008 08:38 AM

Re: Jotunland (PBEM) - (game on!)

Cyber,

Well that explains somethings. I wrote a monologue after what.. turn 48.. that said something like.

Ok.. thats it .. Winged Dog has won. I request a delay ....

After that, I lost power, had to put hurricane shutters up etc.
And I see now that my message never posted.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

I enjoyed the game - but it was critical not to miss that turn.
And since I thought my request for delay was ignored, I haven't entered another turn. (nor will I - you really should put me on ai- otherwise you're just giving territory to Winged - I have no province defense anywhere... )

I had also requested a roll back.

But anyway...

Re: Jotunland (PBEM) - (game on!)

Guys...I set my game to AI control but keep getting turns.

Should I just keep sending them in or is someone supposed to make me officially AI?

WingedDog September 23rd, 2008 11:26 PM

Re: Jotunland (PBEM) - (game on!)

I think you were suposed to click on "Become AI controlled" option and send your turn file, and that's it.

chrispedersen September 26th, 2008 04:12 PM

Re: Jotunland (PBEM) - (game on!)

Three turns ago - four turns ago - I suggested someone to find a replacemetn for me.

If not, to set me to AI.

Now I don't know if that message posted or not - but as I said in that post - it seriously unbalances the game to leave an entirely undefended nation next to Winged. You might as well hand him the game.

Regardless, this game has become a sore point for me. And I'd like to NOT get the notifications that the turns are going to post - and then that new turns are available.

Please.

Best wishes to all.

Re: Jotunland (PBEM) - (game on!)

Chris, only player can put himself to AI, administrator can't. In order to put a player to AI administrator need to find someone willing to do it and send him turn.

CyborgMoses September 27th, 2008 06:36 AM

Re: Jotunland (PBEM) - (game on!)

Okay, who is left in this game? chrispedersen wants out, I am about ready to set my nation to AI, and several folks have already done so... who still wants to keep playing? If it's just Arcoscephale, then we might as well wrap this up.

Pretorian September 27th, 2008 02:23 PM

Re: Jotunland (PBEM) - (game on!)

I want to keep playing. And I'd like to know if any of remaining players want to continue. If nobody else does then declare Arcoscephale the winner, but in that case please redirect me admin password - I'd like to run a few tests in this game before finishing it.

Pretorian September 27th, 2008 02:26 PM

Re: Jotunland (PBEM) - (game on!)

2chrispedersen:
You're holding other people refusing simply enter the game and sending turn file with "set to AI" command. :mean:

CyborgMoses September 27th, 2008 09:35 PM

Re: Jotunland (PBEM) - (game on!)

Okay, it appears that we are only waiting on Caelum to comment here.

PS: I doubt that chrispedersen is reading this thread at this point, you might want to send him a private message and tell him that nobody seems to mind his going AI.

WingedDog October 2nd, 2008 03:21 AM

Re: Jotunland (PBEM) - (game on!)

Who is currently admining the game? CyborgMoses or Pretorian?

CyborgMoses October 2nd, 2008 10:22 AM

Re: Jotunland (PBEM) - (game on!)

Still me.

ArkkiMeisseli October 20th, 2008 01:28 AM

Re: Jotunland (PBEM) - (game on!)

Alright, Caelum's taken enough of a beating for now... we surrender.

Pretorian October 25th, 2008 06:27 AM

Re: Jotunland (PBEM) - (game on!)

Arco is the winner, can I have admin password to perform some tests?

WingedDog October 25th, 2008 07:06 AM

Re: Jotunland (PBEM) - (game on!)

Alright, I've talked to Pretorian he wants to keep the game for himself to play a little and I don't mind, so I'm putting myself to AI. It was nice to play with all of you, thanks to CyborgMoses very much for admining the game! :)

CyborgMoses November 8th, 2008 11:47 PM

Re: Jotunland (PBEM) - (game on!)

You are quite welcome. It was an interesting experience to administrate a game for the first time.
